West Ham vs. Manchester United

I watched WHU-Reading today.

Reading were all over them before the red card. I wasn't hugely surprised that Kitson grabbed an equaliser.

That said, WHU will be a different opposition against us.

Question for the two Hammer boys, how would your lot react if Tevez were to score ?

Happy, if he scores it will be an own goal, have you not seen the West Ham tattoo on his left arse cheek?

Seriously now it all depends, im going to be a tough tough game for us, our hardest of the season so far. Our home form is absolute gash so for us to even earn a point will be a remarkable achievement.

If Tevez scores he scores simple as that its his celebration that will swing it for me, I would expect him not to celebrate to be honest but if he is running to the Bobby Moore sticking two fingers up whilst kissing the Man Utd badge all respect for him shall be lost.

Notreally we had a few players last season, Yossi Reo Coker etc who raised their game for the big teams and that often got us results (Double over you and Arsenal) whereas this season we dont have that sort of player at the club.

The only thing that will make us a different team will be the return of Bellamys pace up front or Fauberts flair in the middle.

Neither of which we are likely to be seeing until well into the new year, sadly.

We are so lacking in pace at the moment I honestly can't see us unsettling MU....and that's not me sucking up to the majority of the forum...if we do get a point or better it would be a major suprise to me.

I don't mean it like that. Just generally, this is a fixture which produces a good atmosphere. It is natural that players come up against a class team and rouse themselves to try to compete.

I would complain but after last season this season was only supposed to be a consolidation

As Curbs says we play 30 games a season the other eight against the top 4 are just a bonus. Man Utd at home probably going to lose Arsenal away I can't call but im not expecting a win.

After that hopefully we should have Bellamy, Faubert, Etherington, Zamora, Bowyer & Boa Morte fit again and from there start building to a decent finish to the season.

Spurs are still below us too so happy days

Well maybe for you lot, this is like your cup final ;) were dreading the home games at the moment and looking forward to the next game on the road

:p

It is one of the most irritating matches in the season for me. WHU have nicked loads of results over the years at Upton Park and OT. I seem to remember a 1-1 a few years back when Defoe scored late. Not to mention the win you got last season. The best game was the 5-3 a while back. Great game.

Were a completely different team now days though and I can just see us rolling over and getting battered. So don't hold your breath for a top quality game of football, all I can see is it being a frustrating game for you where you try to break us down all match and eventually will, boring 1-0 away win for me. Same as Michael said thats not arse kissing i've just left my claret n blue specs in the car and have aweird sense of realism today

Well, we'll see, but I don't see you boys rolling over by any stretch of the imagination. There is some decent quality in that team. I think it will be an odd goal that settles it though.

No Reo-Coker and Tevez in the West Ham side this season :D

And thats good, all the problems those two bought with them!

We have Parker now who is miles better then Reo Coker and Ashton who has nearly scored more goals than Tevez did last season. Not to mention Carlton Cole ;)

The only real quality will be Green, Upson, Parker, Solano and Ashton if those 5 are on the ball we have a chance I suppose

Not fancying Ljungberg then?

What has happened to Noble? He looked a class act last season.

He was playing with Hernia's all season so wasn't really at the top of his game, on the come back now and did make a sub appearance today, he done OK but didn't show the Noble of last season. Give him some time and he'll be good again.

Ljungberg is probably our worst signing and thats saying something when Dyer is going to be out all season

Ljungbergs looked good today but he's nowhere near the player he was at Arsenal, sadly just a has been now picking up his final pay cheque. He does have the odd moment where he does something special had a few today in fact but i'd rather someone else start. Seems to always be fit for his country but never for us, he misses a lot of games with migraines (no doubt though when he is unfit he is really at the cash point rubbing his hands together laughing). And he wears fecking gloves the bloody pansy!

Aye. Along with Tevez, I thought he was your most impressive player when you were in the mire last season.

One man doesn't make the team, a lot of people will tel you it was due to the signing of Tevez and Mascherano that caused all the problems to start with.

Tevez was great don't get me wrong but the amount of people who just seem to forget Green. Neill, Noble & Zamora they was all amazing too it was just Tevez who took the plaudits.

I know what you mean. But the lad Tevez popped up with the goals at the vital times. Much like United at the moment and the debate about whether we are a "one man team". The player scoring the vital goals gets the plaudits.

Green tends to be irritatingly good against us.

Thats exactly what I mean, just because he scored the goal that "kept us up"

Saturday, 28 April 2007
Barclays Premier League
Wigan 0-3 West Ham
Boa Morte 30
Benayoun 57
Harewood 82

Saturday, 21 April 2007
Barclays Premier League
West Ham 1-0 Everton
Zamora 13

Saturday, 07 April 2007
Barclays Premier League
Arsenal 0-1 West Ham
Zamora 45

Thats just three and each one of those wins were just as vital as the rest, Zamora was our top scorer last season with 11 goals I think.

I suppose though thats just the world of football and its all too often where a player(s) doesn't get the credit they deserve.

As for Green he's great against everyone :D

Carlos will get a great reception whatever happens throughout the game. We respect those who played for the club (Carlos, Carrick, Rio, Joe Cole), rather than those who saw it as a stepping stone to bigger things (Lampard, Ince - going back a few years for all the teenagers out there!).

To be honest the way we have played at home this season this should be an absolute away banker for your lot. With certain players still injured, we have little or no pace up front or out wide. Defensively we might do okay (unheard of in recent seasons), but even as die-hard Hammer I really can't see this being any more than a convincing Manchester win.

0-2

Nah I reckon you're getting your excuses in early

You lot had no right to beat us in this fixture last season, but you did. Everyone knows West Ham away is one of our annoyingly troublesome games so no one would be surprised to see you lot take something out of it.

I tell you what if I was a manager I would go feckin ballistic if I had a team that could only 'raise their game' against the big sides - totally defies logic ..... the 'hairdryer treatment' would be a feckin cakewalk....

If OH doesnt start this one, I will be spitting rusty nails.....

Wes Brown is concentrated for the game:

OJ2.small.jpg

..............PIG............
Wes - Rio - Vida - Evra
CR7 - Anderson - * - Giggs
......Rooney.....Tevez

* = Hargreaves if fit, Carrick otherwise.

I hope this team will function because Ronaldo hates Tevez, Tevez hates Ronaldo, Rooney and Tevez can't play together and Rio is going to get sold in January

Hopefully we can score a few goals this time. Robert Green was excellent last season against us at Upton Park. Very good goalkeeper.

This line-up please....................

------------------------- Kuszczak -----------------------
Brown ----- Ferdinand ----------------- Vidic -------- Evra
Ronaldo --- Hargreaves -------------- Anderson ----- Giggs
------------- Rooney ----------------- Tevez ------------

Bench: Heaton, O´Shea, Carrick, Nani, Saha

Yep, I agree.

What does that mean? That because we were struggling it meant we should have just rolled over? From what I remember from the match at UP last season your lot didn't exactly set the place on fire...if anything a draw was the most likely outcome.

These aren't excuses Gaz...just the reality of what I've seen this season at UP.

There is something that can't be easily explained when we play you...nearly always a thriller.

No doubt. WH will be a difficult game

Eh? Have you never heard that said before... "no right". Not as in, you're not allowed to beat us, but that, you lot were showing relegation form and suddenly you turn it on against us. It was a turn up for the books, that was my point. It's the same again this season.

I sympathize with you cockney-hammer. dont know why, but I like the way you see this.

Yeah, I know what you mean...wasn't picking a fight.

I suppose last season when we played you first we really had nothing to lose seeing as we were in dire trouble and playing against the top teams normally means you turn it on...look at Derby yesterday against Liverpool. This season we are certainly a lot healthier but if results just counted for those at home we'd be right down there again. Its our away form which has put us in the top half so far.

All this points to us struggling against you, but I agree, knowing us, we will suddenly hit form at home and everything will be rosy. Maybe we are a 'small club' with a 'big club' mentality...we play well against the big four and struggle against the likes of Wigan, Reading and Bolton.

Still make you to win 2-0 though!;)

Yeah, that's exactly what I meant. Although to be fair to you lot I wouldn't call you a small club, in theory you have history, money, support that makes you quite a big club.

As compared to the big four, I should have said...I would certainly put us in a similar league with the likes of Newcastle, Everton, City and Spurs...teams that could threaten to break the monoploy, but are unlikely to in reality!

That should wind up Glaston even more! :D

Our bogey side last-season, so it will be a tough one, but if we continue our rich vein of form, there's no reason why we can't win this one - provided we don't have one of those games where we can't stick the ball in the back of the onion sack of course.
