Reading vs Manchester United

Mark Lawrenson has gone for us to win 2-0

"We saw with their demolition of Newcastle last week that Manchester United have so many match-winners. They can even afford to leave a couple out. It's amazing.

Reading, of course, are very good at home but I still can't see Steve Coppell getting one over his old club."

Reading are due a thrashing from us. Hopefully, they'll come at us more than the first game of the season but seeing our form of late, I won't be suprised if they sit back in their own half and defend and try to hit us on the counter. Either way we'll take it 3-0.

Rooney (35 min)
Ronaldo(60 min)
Tevez ( 72 min)

Haven't read through the whole thread but has anyone mentioned their man-marking tactics at OT?

Their back four were all over the place but they were constantly in our player's faces, the second they picked up the ball. It was one of most weirdly effective defensive displays I've seen in ages. It also made me worry that Coppel might have Fergie's number, tactically, what with their recent record against us an all.

Luckily for them, there was only one Wayne Rooney and he only lasted half an hour. With Rooney and Tevez both on the pitch Reading will have to change their tactics completely or get torn apart.

Hopefully they'll get torn apart anyway.

When they played us they were half-paralysed with fear. If they do that again on Saturday they'll get ripped.

That's because you raped them last season too (or was that the season before?)

The feckers seem to have a knack of getting decent results against us, just like West Ham , which definitely reduces the fear factor.

Football psychology can be weird like that. It's like the way we've always shat on Bolton while Arsenal struggle. Belief is a mighty powerful thing.

We have a competant Ref for this game, one Steve Bennett

Wes Brown returns from suspension for United's Premier League game at Reading on Saturday and Owen Hargreaves is also fit again.

Man Utd (from): Van der Sar, Kuszczak, Brown, O'Shea, Simpson, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Fletcher, Nani, Park, Ronaldo, Anderson, Carrick, Hargreaves, Giggs, Rooney, Saha, Tevez.

Probably this team then..

VDS
Brown Rio Vidic Evra
Ronaldo Carrick Anderson Giggs*
Rooney Tevez

Kuszczak, O'Shea, Hargreaves, Park*, Nani*.

*Have no idea if Giggs, Park or Nani will start in this game. Carrick and Anderson will probably start, and Hargreaves on the bench.

I think we'll win this one. I'm normally apprehensive about away games, but Reading really are shite at the moment.

If we turn up like we did last week in the second half we'll kill em. Big score. Otherwise it could be another frustrating afternoon like day 1

I'll try not to jinx us by saying that we've never demolished teams in back-to-back matches,so reading to hold us frustrated for long periods.

On a serious note heard hargreaves might start, which is a huge mistake if they man-mark us like last time,it'll be one less player they have to mark and can put the extra on ronaldo

If they man-mark us agan, the answer is bring on Dong...Rio and Vidic combined couldn't look after him on the pitch...he'll put a cheeky through ball in for Tevez to lash home

worst defensive record V best goalscoring record, hard to predict isn't it.

Come on United!!!!!

The fact that Derby has conceded just as much make the prediction harder :p

Surprisingly low interest in this thread :S
People taking this game for granted.

Could all end in tears.

Reality is that Reading got a result at OT, so why not at home. Let's face it, these Reading players are exactly the type of players who will turn it on when United come to town, and then drop back to their relegation-flirting ways by next week.

I'm not worried about losing today, but I am quite worried about drawing the game :nervous: hopefully that won't happen though.

I'm hoping for this team :

Van der Sar
Brown
Ferdinand
Vidic
Evra

CRonaldo
Carrick
Anderson
Park/Nani

Rooney
Tevez

Would also like to see Hargreaves back at some point, he'll probably be on the subs bench.
