Manchester United vs Arsenal

Finally someone sees it as well. Anderson is no central midfielder.

I'd give him license to roam. He could play the role Giggs does now but better, because he's got the legs and can shoot. Plus he's got that turn of pace and strength to run at players. I think Arsenal wouldn't know what to do with him.

He can play on midfield but creating chances and giving passes. he needs a midfielder behind him, choose Carrick or Hargreaves behind him and he will work perfectly.

i dont think anderson is CM either, i think he lacks creativity, but makes up for it in his pace and dribbling, for me id stick him either on the wing, or playing off a striker.

why put him in CM, when, lets face it, he not as creative as scholes or carrick, and quite frankly, isnt a defensive midfielder.

stick him on the left, where he used to play for porto, and i think wel see a new, and better player than we already have done.

The Brazilian media and national management have been most impressed with his performacnes for us in central mdifield for us apparently. A revalation in their eyes.

And IMO at least, he is no winger, not in the traditional or United sense.

he doesnt have to play as a winger, ronny doesnt, i cant even remember the last time he took someone on down the flank and whipped in a good ball.

i dont really know whether or not he would be a good winger, but i certainly think playing off a striker, hed be immense.

also, as we have seen he loves to have a dribble, in CM, theres usually no time to run at defenders, you get the odd chance, but its usually about making space for yourself, then as soon as you get it try and play a killer pass.

yeah you all know better than fergie... I'm sure SAF knows why he plays him in the middle.
BTW we should start like that:

vds

brown Rio Vidic Evra

CR7 Carrick Anderson Giggs/Nani

Roon Tevez/Saha

The thing is -- is that a bad thing? I'm not sure it is. Neither Hleb or Rosicky is a traditional winger, and it took us a while to work that out; but now I'm very happy with how they're playing.

I really think this question of Anderson on the "wing" (since it's not traditional) deserves its own thread, its own discussion. It's been mentioned a lot recently, but always in the context of other discussions.

But I'll let an enterprising Utd fan start it.

I can't think of many "traditional" wingers playing at good Premiership clubs. Aaron Lennon is probably the only one.

Oh i'm not saying that Anderson couldn't do a job on the wing, adapt similarly to how Joe Cole has.

That being said, he seems perfectly fine when playing centrally [playing where he does now or an increasingly adnvaced position], and a more natural player on the left would be preferable for the team too i think.

Have people here given up all hope as regards Nani's career with us or soemthing?

Me not, I have high hopes in him and cant see any reason why i shouldnt have.

Got a phone call about an hour ago with soem good news, no not a message from the future telling me that we beat Arsenal, but i do now have tickets for the game. :)

I'd accepted the fact that i would be watching it on TV, but hey, i'll take this too. Though i do hope that the person whose ticket i have is alright and everything.

What is all this about. Why do some people think Anderson isn't a CM now?
He has arguably been our best CM so far this season.

 I never said he isn't a CM. I said he could be given more license to go forward on Saturday.

Sorry you did say that.

I'd agree that we should give him more license to roam that I think that would mean dropping Scholes and playing Carrick or Hargreaves.

He can play as CM, and is very good at doing so. But many, including myself, think that he could be even better pushed forward into a more attacking position either through the centre or on the left.

In saying that, Arsenal is one of the teams where I want to see Anderson and Hargreaves starting as the central midfield pairing. We need their power, aggression and energy in there as they are one of the few teams capable of matching and perhaps beating Scholes/Carrick in controlling the midfield. Whereas playing Anderson and Hargreaves turns it more into an individual battle where we probably have the edge over the field.

Against Lyon is where I'd love to see Carrick and Scholes in the centre with Anderson, Tevez and Ronaldo buzzing around behind Rooney.

I was just thinking I'd like to see something like that today. I reckon SAF will go for a 4-5-1 against Arse & I'd love to see Anderson, Tevez, Ronaldo & Rooney all swapping positions. If we start as follows I'll be happy:

VDS
Pique, Rio, Vidic, Evra
Carrick, Scholes
Ronaldo, Rooney, Anderson
Tevez

Anyone know what channel is showing the match in the middle east ?

-----------VDS-------------
Brown---Rio---Darth----Evra
Ron-Hargreaves-Scholes-Giggs
----------Roon--------------
---------------Saha--------

Bench: PIG, Oshea, Carrick, Anderson, Tevez

Bum them feckers in the face.

fecking shit right on their fecking cornflakes, Gallas and his shitting fecking mouth, hope we skullfeck them cnuts all the way back to shitting North London

Twats

swearing is neither big or clever, but it makes you look well hard

 First of all dont mess with MUM because she will have you. And secondly our Mum will defo have you.

will she feck

sorry mummy

anyway

The boys better make up for playing like fairies last week. Get stuck in from the start. Rooney back is a massive bonus, missed him last weekend.

Captaincy is also an issue for me, I'd like to see our kid have it

Yeah would like to see Saha start and actually look commited. Tevez is looking a bit jaded so needs a rest. Saha needs to fecking step up.

Tevez

Is what I'd like to see. Though it wont happen, as Fergie goes a bit mental when champions league games come around.

If we're going to play two in the middle though, it surely has to be Carrick and Anderson. Arsenal's midfield would run rings around Scholes, unless he had extra help, and Hargreaves would mean us never getting the ball.

Anderson in the Giggs role might work, though I'd be more inclined to try that on Wednesday, where we should be alright regardless so long as we keep things solid.

I'm dreading our line up for this game. He played the strongest team against Spurs, so I don't get how it makes sense to start sodding about in the next round, when you draw someone even better.

Theo Walcott has been having round-the-clock treatment on a thigh strain in a desperate attempt to get him fit in time to face Manchester United in the FA Cup this weekend.

Why?
