If we're going to play two in the middle though, it surely has to be Carrick and Anderson. Arsenal's midfield would run rings around Scholes, unless he had extra help, and Hargreaves would mean us never getting the ball.

Anderson in the Giggs role might work, though I'd be more inclined to try that on Wednesday, where we should be alright regardless so long as we keep things solid.

I'm dreading our line up for this game. He played the strongest team against Spurs, so I don't get how it makes sense to start sodding about in the next round, when you draw someone even better.

Our season COULD be more or less over within 4 days. Hopefully not.
 
After losing to City in last weeks derby, a loss to Arsenal in the FA cup would be horrendous. Hopefully the crowd play there part as well.

I have no doubt that Wenger will have a stronger squad than he has suggested.

That said, after late goals in our last three meetings, I really want the win here.

I thought it was sorted that Scholes + Carrick = Anderson +Hargreaves, yet people on here are coming up with other partnerships, and thinks its acceptable - but if Fergie did and we lsot, it'd be the end of the world!

I thought we played Scholes and Anderson against Arsenal at the Emirates and deserved to beat them,though we drew in the end.To be honest I would prefer Carrick Anderson myself.

we missed the player to drive forward when things were bleak last week, rooney will do a keano for us this week..we need to get to that ball quick time, no room for fancy play this week IMHO.
play hard and they will crumble! come on you reds..
we totally need volume from the fans through out,too.

there is no question that rooneys return will help us. We will create chances we just need to take them...
