We don't even know if united have made a bid FFS
We dont know for sure, but all the papers are saying there was an initial 20mil bid rejected.

When was the last time WE walked away from a major mega million pound deal over price?? Think about it carefully.

.
Senna?
And that was just over a few million quid.
From what I remember at the time, Pogue, I don't think the hitch was money. I stand to be corrected, but didn't he feel(rightly as it turns out), that we were really after Hargreaves, so the negotiations stalled?

Ronaldinho?
Senna 2 points...we werent even sure we wanted him and 2 that was not a mega million pound deal. Its a heck of alot of difference haggling over 1 or 2 million in a 6mil transfer to a 28mil one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're implying that 2 or 3 million quid gets devalued, just because it's seems smaller when compared to a multi-million transfer fee.
The thing is, as far as the money-men are concerned, 2 million quid is 2 million quid, whichever way you look at it.
Besides these differences are often settled in terms of relative success the club has and so pay for themselves...ill be staggered if we walk away because there is say a 5mil difference in valuation. It may go to the wire but i'd still expect it to happen.

Poor Gus, this must be really pissing him off.
So close, yet seemingly, so far...
Not really, im happier than ive been for months. Its a done deal, we almost always go through a protracted process. But something ive been crying out for, for over a year is going to happen and we will be miles better off for it.
I'm assuming ronnie is going nowhere.

FWIW, I think it'll happen too. This is the Carrick signing all over again.
I'm pleased for you, I really am. I just hope he as good as you say.
Anyway, something to wet your appetite for now...

Once we identify someone we want its because we've identified how they will fit into the side...you dont suddenly switch from spending 28mil on one player to another because we dont want to pay 2 or 3 million more.
A deal will be reached. Put your mortgages on it...and your children.
Have i let you down yet???
WHy 14?
And how on earth have you got to 12k+ posts you busy bee!
It's the same with Dipperpool, Livershit, Scumpool, The Pool, Shitpool; the list goes on.
It sounds plastic and fake, like someone desperately trying to convince everyone else he's a United fan by throwing as many names at their rivals as he possibly can.
Now that's not to say you're a JCL, but you sound like one when you use terms like that.
It's the same when people write Chel$ki, Chel$ea, Chelshit, Abramobitch's Bitches etc.
Cringeworthy.
Me too. They're just fannying about with the numbers. £25M plus another £2M based on appearances, £2M for a couple of PLs £1M for a CL. You'll end up paying £27MWe are in agreement then.....

Seriously though i dont know why clubs dont just get on with it a bit more efficiently. It would help both sides to get the deal done sooner rather than later and im pretty sure everyone and their dog knows eventually the deal will happen. Could it really not be settled in a day with all the parties in a room...3 long meetings or whatever.
The ashely cole one was a joke..will he wont he until midnight on the transfer window..of course he was gonna bloody go.
I think a lot of that is down to appeasing their "consumers" (i.e. fans) by dragging things out for long enough to convince them they drove a hard bargain.
Chances are, Ramos is already trying to spend the Berbatov fee and Fergie is already deciding what shirt number to give him![]()
i think tats a bit optimistic
Spurs are looking for a figure and if we dont match that then they will walk away with their player, i hope we arent being stubborn by a f million quid, but at the same time i hope they just give in and let the player move for a reasonably price of 28 million.
On a side note i hope he gets number 9

I could agree with you if there was concrete evidence that we are interested and have bid for him.
The thing is though, Gus, the quicker the negotiation, the more it favours the sellers(unless he is shit, and they want to get rid).
United know if they appear overly keen, they will pay a few million extra. While price doesn't matter to us, that sort of money is sizeable, even at a club of our size. The simple fact is, when the deal is done, we will have the same player regardless of how long it took, or what we paid. If we show a little patience, and get the player cheaper, then why wouldn't we?
As much as some folk on here refuse to believe it, this club is a business. If we weren't being absolutely professional in our negotiations, I would be worried about how the rest of the club was being run.

True true, and its non football people that will be working through the nitty gritty... my point is that from a footballing perspective the sooner both squads are settled the better...but your points are good ones and more realistic.
Indeed a statement would be decent but this amount and no denial or comment means its either the best smokescreen fergie's ever pulled or....
I really don't give a feck if people think i'm a "plastic fan" I've supported United for over twenty years through good times and bad and will continue too until my death bed.
I didn't realise that by calling our biggest rival by a nickname it would cause offense.

We're not talking about HP finance for a used car here - we're talking about a few hundred million for a new stadium: not easy to arrange in these credit-squeeze times.Heigh ho Tonto, being the loan arranger isn't going to get you a big pile of silver.
Have i let you down yet???
