We will be lucky if we win this 2-0 at the way we have been playing in the past few weeks.

Although i would love a 5 or 6-0 drubbing!

Injury problems for Fergie could mean rookie keeper Amos playing against Bolton

Ben Amos could play for Manchester United against Bolton
Rookie goalkeeper Ben Amos, 18, could be thrust into Premier League action for Manchester United on Saturday.

Sir Alex Ferguson concerned over the fitness of his three first-team goalkeepers ahead of the match against Bolton.

Edwin Van der Sar (knee) and Thomas Kuszczak (thigh) are doubts while Ben Foster is definitely out with an ankle problem.

Amos played in United's midweek League Cup win over Middlesbrough.

He has worked his way through the Old Trafford ranks since the age of 11.

Past three Scholes-Anderson pairings in a midfield 2:

Zenit 2-1 United
Derby 0-1 United
United 1-2 City

Iffy to say the least.

Portsmouth 0-1 United

I still don't think Scholes-Anderson is a very good idea. They're both too attacking and the cover that they do provide to our back four is inadequate when compared to Fletcher or Hargreaves. I'm sorry but I can't really see a Scholes-Anderson midfield being used much ever again (unless we're up against League One opposition or worse).

I prefer winning the premier league to Amos getting one game's experience. I prefer VDS or Kuszczak to come back, and I'm pretty sure we will see VDS returning.

If thats the case then we may as well get rid of our youth policy. Either that or put John O'Shea in goal. You can hardly blaim an 18 year old goalkeeper if we did go on to drop points against Bolton.

My first game since the Shield :(.

On the other hand I'm going. :D:devil:

Anyway, surely Berbatov starts here.

I expect the midfield to be very competitive & physical so we'll need some 'presence' in there - probably two of Hargreaves, Anderson and Fletcher will be included.

Ronaldo from the start or as an impact sub? Don't know enough about his fitness or stamina levels to call that - so I'll rely on SAF.

Tevez would have to be unlucky to miss out but I can see this one being a choice between him & Rooney.

'Go team!' as they (allegedly) say across the pond.

Na-ah. We won't change our game against Bolton at Old Trafford. We'll crush their physical side through quick, free-flowing footy, playing 4-4-2 with two traditional wingers ripping their defense apart.

Team for me would be;

VDS (should be fit)
Brown
Rio
Vidic
Evra
Hargreaves
Park
Scholes
Anderson
Berbatov
Rooney

Should be a game we can win comfortably if we take the chances we get, although with the start we've had who knows.

Van der Sar
Brown Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Ronaldo Hargreaves Anderson Park
Berbatov Rooney

That's my preferred lineup, although fergie will opt for Scholes instead of Hargreaves or Anderson. He'll go with Hargreaves/Scholes with Anderson, Nani and Tevez as impact players during the second half I reckon.

------------Goalie (whoever is fit)
-----Brown - Rio - Vidic - Evra
Ronaldo - Hargreaves - Scholes - Giggs
-------Rooney - Berbatov

Van der Sar returns for Red Devils

Goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar will return to duty for Manchester United against Bolton in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Saturday.

With Tomasz Kuszczak ruled out with a groin injury, United faced naming rookie goalkeeper Ben Amos for the visit of Gary Megson's men.

But van der Sar has recovered from the blow to the knee which forced him out of last Sunday's draw with Chelsea and should be in Sir Alex Ferguson's starting line-up.

Ferguson delivered some good news on Rodrigo Possebon, who was on the wrong end of a terrible tackle by Emanuel Pogatetz in Tuesday's Carling Cup win over Middlesbrough.

After fears of a broken leg were dismissed, the United boss has now confirmed Possebon did not suffer ligament damage either, although the Brazilian has a nasty gash which has not yet healed.

Man United (from): Van der Sar, Brown, Neville, R Da Silva, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evans, O'Shea, Evra, F Da Silva, Ronaldo, Nani, Hargreaves, Anderson, Fletcher, Park, Giggs, Tevez, Rooney, Berbatov, Manucho, Welbeck, Amos.

Seems like Fabio is back from injury.

Update

btw, I want Tevez on for Rooney. But it feels impossible to bench Rooney

tevez will pay some part fergie said today, and i think he will start. Not too sure who with though. I expect Ronaldo to make his first league start of the season aswell.

I hope Tevez plays because I just put him in my fantasy team, which prob means that Rooney will now score a hat trick!

and whats all this about Scholes being suspended?

nice to see fabio back - he won't be in the final 'squad' you'd think but good news

--------------Vds

Evra-----Vidic----Rio----Brown

Ronaldo--Scholes--Hargreves--Nani

------Berbatov---Tevez--

Practically impossible to guess the team with so many fit

However impossible it might be, I can guarantee you that they won't play in those positions.
