Southampton vs. Manchester United

No reason to go over board with resting players as there's a full week after this until our next 'proper' game.

PIG
Neville Evans Vidic O'Shea
Ronaldo Anderson Scholes Nani
Berbatov Rooney

I think its important for Neville to play this game to keep him sharp for the Chelsea game, it will be good for Scholes to get some more minutes and hopefully Ronnie will bag a couple to boost his confidence in front of goal.

3-0 United.

Why would anyone want that clown PIG in goal?

This is the FA Cup gents!

A bit harsh Ralphie. His kicking s God awful but generally he's done well for us when he's been asked to play.

PIG - SAF has been rotating for these sorts of games.

Neville - a good sort of match to get more miles on the clock. Won't be tested too much.
Evans - may as well give him another consecutive game. He is going to need to be match sharp for Inter. No point risking Rio.
Vidic - rape shall continue.
O'Shea - he'll continue to do a solid job. He'll continue to be maligned by Caftards.

Nani - needs to pull his finger out and justifying his early praise.
Anderson - was starting to build some good form up, up to the CWC.
Carrick - our best player.
Giggs - he's done this sort of game a million times.

Tevez - fresh after a break.
Berbatov - get the goal tally up.

I dont think we'll see many changes, a decent team will give us a comfortable win.
Southampton dont have much to offer, they do however play decent honest football and they wont roll over, a very young inexperienced team with Surman and Jack Cork their best 2 players.
Jack Cork btw is a superstar in the making, chelsea made a mistake letting him go.

Because he was going to displace Terry, Carvalho, Alex and Ivanović.

He's a superb YOUNG prospect in his sitting midfield position, none of the players you mentioned can play there, so dont come the cnut with me.

Not playing the cnut here. Cork wasn't going to make it at Chelsea. And in case you haven't realised, it's not like Chelsea care much about young prospects.

Fair point, just you were stating the blindingly obvious and i was talking hypothetically, or more looking into the future, to which you have pointed out that chelsea dont give 2 tosses about that do they.
From what i saw of him at bournemouth, he was 17 and absolutely ran the show, he looked a different class, and having heard some rave reviews coming out of southampton about him too, i think he will soon be a premiership player again and wouldnt be at all surprised if he ended up at a big club.

Neville ----- Vidic -------- Evans ----- O'Shea
--------- Fletcher ------ Anderson -----------
Ronaldo -------------------------------- Nani
--------------- Tévez -----------------------
--------------------- Berbatov --------------

Subs: Amos; Rafael; Possebon, Scholes, Giggs; Welbeck, Rooney.

I don't want to take this too lightly, but I wouldn't be surprised if Sir Alex gives Gibson, Fábio, Manucho etc a chance. It's a tough away game though IMO.

I reckon it'll be: Southampton 1-2 Man Utd

Yes.

Should be a comfortable win...but this is the F.A. Cup, so I won't get too far ahead of myself just yet.

Squeaky bum time, this. Not for the cup, but for the league. We need to go through without any hitches and also hope Wigan either win or lose against Spurs tonight. A replay will mean our league match with Wigan is postponed again which would be a problem.

No Rio & Tevez according to SAF, and he's not sure whether to start Ronaldo because of having so many games in January, he wants to use the squad as best he can. My team would be:

PIG
Neville
Vidic
Evans
O'Shea
Park
Anderson
Carrick
Nani
Rooney
Berbatov

Subs: VDS, Rafael, Fletcher, Scholes, Ronaldo, Welbeck, Manucho.

Hopefully get the game tied up and give Welbeck & Manucho a bit of time towards the end of the match. What about Fabio also? Haven't heard anything else about him other than he was training.

I have many bad memories of games on the south coast, not to mention the cup final defeat against the Saints. Who can forget the grey shirt debacle, and the many points dropped at the Dell in the 80s.

I hope we fecking STUFF them for old time’s sake.

We did send them down in 2005 beating them on the last day, but of course would be nice to win on Sunday

Squad for Soton (according to MUTV)
Van Der Sar, Kuszczak, Foster
Neville, Vidic, Evans, O´Shea, Rafael
Ronaldo, Scholes, Giggs, Carrick, Fletcher, Nani, Park, Gibson, Possebon
Rooney, Berbatov, Welbeck

Out: Rio, Tevez, Hargreaves, Anderson, Brown, Evra

Starting 11

Foster

Neville Vidic Evans O'Shea

Ronaldo Carrick Scholes Park

Berbatov Rooney

Subs

Van Der Sar
Rafael
Fletcher
Nani
Giggs
Anderson
Welbeck

Its a cup game and Fergie may want to rest Van Der Sar for Chelsea. It seems like this may be Foster's turn to play in goal. Ronaldo seems to always play even when Sir Alex says he needs a rest so I think this may continue again. We are clearly sending out our strongest available team for this match while there will be more fringe first teamers involved in the next game.

---------------Foster

-Hargro -- Brown -- Ferdinand -- Evra

Ronaldo -- Ljajic ---- Anderson -- Tosic

----------Tevez ---- Shearer-----------

I have a lot of mental scars inflicted by Southampton at the Dell, and the utter embarrassment of losing the 1976 cup final. It seems like they were our bogey team for years, and it happened to coincide with the years I went to away games. Seven fecking hours travelling on a football special only to lose and travel back on the same shit train with no heating lives with you a longtime.

no Fabio...no Manucho...no Tosic...and we still haven't signed Cherno Samba

Wonder if there's any chance we get to see the Serbs.

Wonder if there's any chance we get to see the Serbs.

One is being sent back and the other will feature in a few reserve games in January before being unleashed in February when everyone else is knackered (except 3-lung Park of course who may just be breathing a little harder than usual).

I'd like to see some youth mixed with experience, need Berbatov ready for Chelsea as he's sure to start with Rooney as Tevez has had a death in family I think it is and surely wont be mentally ready... Get Neville some more time as we can't trust Rafael against them.. PIG for me as doesn't Foster have a broken finger or something? If not I'd be fine starting him. The middle should feature Scholes so he can get some more time to hit proper form. With the wings Ronaldo should be spared with Nani and Park coming in although Giggs is going to be favored in this kind of game if more youth is being utilized.

Is Fergie actually going to play his strongest XI? Has he said that?

---------------Foster

-Hargro -- Brown -- Ferdinand -- Evra

Ronaldo -- Ljajic ---- Anderson -- Tosic

----------Tevez ---- Shearer-----------

Never mind Shearer, Saint and Greavsie would be good enough on Saints current home form. And Keira Knightly for Ljajic.

----------------Tevez----------
-----------Berbatov-------------

Subs: Foster, Rafael, Fabio(in hopes that he's fit), Possebon, Scholes, Gibson, Welbeck

EDIT: I'm guessing Scholes, Possebon and Welbeck will be given some minutes under their belt.

Foster
Neville, Vidic, Evans, O´Shea
Park, Possebon, Scholes, Nani
Rooney, Berbatov
Subs:- Kuszczak, Rafael, Ronaldo, Giggs, Carrick, Fletcher, Gibson, Welbeck

Another 1-0 win will do me, but 4 or 5 would be nice. I work with a scummer so anything less than a win is a :nono:
