Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur

Hopefully Fabio will play

I actually believe Redknapp about the weak team

His team are bottom of the prem and in two other cups at an advanced stage. Last thing he wants are more games. Cups mean feck all if he gets relegated and loses the Sky money

hmm, hard to see who will play here. Tuesday against West Brom is a factor, though we have 6 days off then and evra, evans, browne and rio will defo be back.

ideally rio is back as maybe the case. if not, we are in a spot of bother in defence. out strongest team would be -

team -

van der sar

Neville Rio Vida o shea
Park Carrick Scholes Ronaldo
Tevez Berbatov

but after redknapp said weakend team, we could see anything -

also could have -

PIG

O Shea Neville Vida Fabio
Ronaldo Fletcher Carrick Giggs
Berbatov Wellbeck.

Subs from - Foster, Chester, Rio, Scholes, Tevez, Fletcher, Tosic, Nani,

In that case he would have fielded his weakest team last night last night, hoping to have gone crashing out of the League Cup. He didn't.

And he wouldnt have brought on Pavlyuchenko last night if he hadn't been desperate to pull things around and continue the cup progress.

Redknapp may field a less than full strength team on Saturday (or it may be just mind games), but I still think he'd be delighted to win.

I don't think Fabio is going to be starting a game for some time. We must learn to walk before we run, and he hasn't even featured on the subs bench this season.

I think Evans will be fit.

Saturday's FA Cup tie doesn't have much to do with that in all honesty.

Maybe he felt that his best chance of a cup run and silverware was the League Cup. It's also damage limitation at this point. He gets to play United at Wembley now, instead of trying to beat United at Old Trafford and then who knows who thereafter if they keep progressing.

hard to call a team for this, I think it will still be quite strong from us.

Park might start to cancel out the Lennon threat, but I would like to see Nani play back to back matches. Hopefully Welbeck gets some more minutes somewhere

Maybe - it's a fair point. However, I still don't think that the team he'll field on Saturday will be quite as 2nd string as some may be imagining.

Massive difference between a cup semi-final (any cup) a week before your next league game and a FA Cup 4th round game at Old Trafford a few days beforehand. If he does go for it with a strong side I think you'll regret it.

progressing in the league cup = one more game at most
progressing in the FA cup - potentiaaly a lot more

If he does go for a weakened team - and given injuries and players who are ineligible - it could be something like this:

--- --------- Alnwick-----------
Gunter----Corluka - Rocha--- Bale
-------------Huddlestone
Bentley --- Bostock - Taarabt ----Dos Santos
----------- Pavlyuchenko

I'd be happy enough with that actually. It would be good to give Bostock and Taarabt their first starts, and to see Dos Santos back in action. The pressure would be off them, with no huge expectations, and they might just play out of their skins and sieze a big chance to impress.

Glaston.

Hows Levy doing with that dossier?

Am I wrong in thinking that Tottenham secured a UEFA cup spot next year by getting to the final of the Carling Cup? Seeing as we won't be needing it.... That could be a big factor in him not fielding a second string last night.

I wouldn't be surprised to see debuts for Tosic and Fabio on the weekend, but I think it's more likely that he'll field a back four of neville - rio - vidic - o'shea if Rio is fit.

If Spurs really field a side without King, Dawson and Woodgate we won't have to worry about our own back line... we're going to rape them if this is indeed the case.

No chance will Pavlyuchenko, Bentley and Corluka be part of his weakend team - they're all first choice for your lot (maybe not so much Bentley but he started last night and I'm sure Aary said none of the players involved would be playing Saturday)

I don't think he said that, and if he did, he was lying. Otherwise they won't even have 11 senior players to field.

I think all he said is that he wouldn't play Woodgate, Dawson or O'Hara, who have knocks and who he sees as essential for the league.

You only get a UEFA cup place via the League Cup by winning in the League Cup final.

In that case I don't know who he'll play even as a lone striker (never mind the option of two up front), since Bent is injured and I don't know if he'll be fit. He'd have to draft in Obika from our reserve team, or else play Dos Santos as striker.

As for also leaving out Corluka etc, I'd be totally amazed if HR fielded a team containing zero 1st XI players.

He's changed his tune then. A few weeks back O'Hara couldn't get a game.

What's happened to Hutton? Still injured? Reckon Ghaly might play?

Hutton is out long-term, maybe even until the summer. Ghaly has been sold to an Egyptian club I think, tho' not yet confirmed

What's the weakest team United can field - without getting carried away and ridicuous.

My guess:

-----------------Kuzak-------------------

Chester-------Neville------OShea------?

Tosic--------Fletcher-----Scholes-------Nani

-------------Welbeck------Tevez-------------

zoran to start this or the game against WBA .. hope its tomorrow .

I will be amazed if Alnwick starts again, he is gash. Reckon the old spaniard backup might get the nod, or Gomes.

I think Macheda will make the bench for this one - at least if both Neville and Evans are out.

Our team could be something like: Edwin, Fabio, O'Shea, Vidic, Fletcher, Ronaldo, Scholes, Carrick, Park, Tevez and Berbatov

Bench: PIG, Chester, Rodrigo, Gibson, Welbeck, Giggs and Macheda

That would be our strongest side right now at least....

I wouldn't risk Vidic. My team would be:

Foster

Fletcher
Neville
O'Shea
Fabio

Nani
Gibson
Possebon
Tosic

Welbeck
Tevez

I know it's a weak side, but Premiership is the priority.

Fergie won't rest Vidic - he'll want to win this one. I predict (not want, but predict):

--------------------------------VdS--------------------------------
Neville--------Vidic------------------O'Shea---------Fabio
---------------Carrick------------------Scholes----------------
Ronaldo---------------------------------------------------Tosic
-----------------Tevez------------Berbatov---------------------

Bench: Foster, Chester, Fletcher, Giggs, Gibson, Welbeck, Macheda

Don't think he'll risk Giggs and Chester looks too out of his depth. Everyone keeps saying Fabio won't be thrown in at the deep-end but Rafael was and supposedly Fabio is the better. He was taken off at half-time in his last reserve match which might well have been to keep him fresh for today.

I do wonder if Brown might be a surprise addition to the bench

Edit - and to those saying Park or Nani - they're both injured

VDS
Neville Vidic O'Shea Fabio
Ronaldo Fletcher Scholes Park
Tevez
Berbatov

VDS playing to give a little more solidity at the back. Personally, I'd like to leave Vidic out of this lineup but then we're down to Fletcher at the back and he needs to be in midfield. Protect Carrick right now! I'd like to leave Berbatov out too!

Subs: Foster,Eckersley, Tosic, Carrick, Giggs, Wellbeck and er: well that's it!

Pig
Fabio
Neville
Vidic
O'shea
Tosic
Possebon
Scholes
Ronaldo
Tevez
Welbeck

give or take. We've a game on tuesday so one or two youngsters, you'd think WILL figure at some point

Pretty much down to this now, maybe Gibson for Tosic given he's played this season.

Berbatov will play > Welbeck as well

well nani and evans are also out. fabio to atleast make the bench, tosic could start but is park injured, a fit park would start i think

Starting 11

---------Kuszczak

----Gibson-----Carrick

Despite our injury crisis, attacking players are our strength at the moment. Therefore we should play a lineup that makes the most of that attribute. We should also bear in mind that our next game is Away to West Brom on Tuesday. Fabio may well play this game, but from the bench. Also Tosic should come on in the second half so we can test his match fitness. This may be the only chance to bed new players into the team against a 'weak' Spurs side. Defenders and wingers are in short supply right now.

Agree with that 11 Raven. Interesting to see Fabio and I also think Giggs should be rested as he had trouble with injury against Derby and I would rather use him on tuesday against West Brom.

We really cannot afford more injuries now ahead of tuesday.
