Modric has to have been one of the most overhyped players I've seen sign for an English club in recent years, he's been literally pathetic at times for Spurs, to the extent that it needs highlighting. I've said since I saw him play in the Euros that while he does have a bit of vision and passing ability about him, he'd never get the space he seems to need in the premiership. Nor does he have the upper body strength to even compete for the ball at times.

He's being used the only way he can be now by Redknapp, basically playing in the Krancjar position for Spurs, if that makes any sense, yet again today he barely had a look in all game. And its not as if he's playing against a calculator-holding Michael Essien or anything, United give teams more space than most.

Here's an example of how overhyped some spastic have rated the bloke:

I want all of you to watch Modric closely and tell me that hes better than Fabregas after the game.

shut up, you spastic

Just watch the Mod in action.

Modric and Scholes on the same pitch is just a special moment for us all.

oh, and:

He is overrated but he is also playing in a hugely overrated spurs side. With better players around him he could be more effective. Not ever gonna be a top drawer player though.

Oh and better than fabregas :wenger:

He was subbed because he was injured...

Today, he was very quiet. To be fair, I havent saw Fabregas do anything at OT either.

Modric would still have been a better player to fill Scholes boots than Anderson though. He is also better than the incredibly overated Fabregas.

Yeh, I wish we'd got Modric instead of Anderson.

Good point, Spurs would make most players look shite.

Do you really believe that? For me Anderson is miles ahead of Modric. More potential, three years younger. There is a reason why Modric plays for Tottenham and Anderson plays for Manchester United.

Anderson is Nicky Butt with dreadlocks.

then why did you say this in the matchday thread earlier then?

To be fair FF, Modric has been pretty poor. However, I havent seen anything better than Fabregas at OT.

Nicky Butt >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Modric

Juande Ramos failed at Spurs. Doesn't mean he's not a very good manager.

There's something about that club that is set up to fail. All who go near it are diminished.

:wenger:

Miles ahead of Modric...Please.

Anderson against Derby was worse than Modric was today. If we are talking about a Scholes successor, Modric is by far the more suited player. Technically on another planet to Anderson and his passing is far better. Anderson is capable of playing one very good pass on his day, but actually dictating the play is pretty useless.

Anderson is the much better athlete. Scholes has the same build as Modric, Modric is quicker, but people dont slate Scholes for not having upper body strenth.

I think Anderson is a good player, overated on here but he is feck all like Scholes.

And 'Theres a reason why Modric plays for Spurs..." is a boneless point to make.

How so? If Modric is as good as you say why is he not playing for a top drawer side? Why is he playing for a team hovering above the relegation zone.

As for him being better than Anderson- well that is just utter balls. Anderson is by far the more effective midfielder- wins the ball, can hit a pass, can hold his own against teh likes of Gerrard and Fabregas and all at just 20.

Your Scholes comparison is also off- Scholes is better at finding space and retaining the ball- Modric is limited in both respects.

Modric is good player and in the right circumstances ie. playing against England under Steve McClaren, he can control a game. But come on he is nowhere near being as good as Scholes, Anderson, Fabregas or any top level midfield player you care to name. He might get there one day but not at the minute.

... There's something about that club that is set up to fail. ....
Really? In that case I wonder how they managed to win their 17th recognised trophy last year?

No one says he is like scholes, and you don't seem to have a clue of what you're on about, Modric hasn't had a good game as of yet for spurs and he would not be the perfect replacement for Scholes. End of!

It's actually not. Why did Fergie go for Anderson and not for Modric if he is as good as you think? Both were available for about the same price, Modric was even cheaper.
Modric has done feck all so far in the Premiership. Anderson has done reasonably better than him despite being younger, playing for a much bigger club with a lot more competition for a place in the starting XI and still adapting to a position he didn't use to play at his former clubs.

Is your IQ single figures or something? Do you still get playtimes and spells in the naughty corner?

He's better playing off a striker, I don't think he has the physical attributes to play on either wing as effectively.

Personally, I don't think he's a bad player, has potential. He isn't seen in any good light right now but to be fair, Spurs have been garbage and their problem areas are obvious but they don't even buy to strengthen them areas.

Quite clearly, some village is missing their idiot. Window-licking good.

You know nothing about football

And why despite all the masses of cash you've thrown at your team over the years you are stuck in permanent mediocrity.

Scholesy, the major problem you have here is your eagerness to compare him to Scholes all the time.

Whether that is 'footballing brain', or the majority of the other facets of their games.

ahahaha. I like a wum who keeps at it even after his cover is blown, just to see if some fool will take the bait.

You have a relegation dogfight to attend to before starting this debate.

Idiot alert.

I wouldnt swap Modric for Anderson at all. I dont know where Scholesy is going with this but it seems a bit delusional to me. Modric is a good player but he is not better than Fabregas and is clearly not playing as good as some think he is.

I'd say Anderson is currently the better player but Modric is more scholes-like. Both will end up very good players.

What made me laugh was when Glaston was typing out his take on Spurs new tactics for this season last summer and in a bunch of examples he had Modric as his combative midfielder. :nervous:
