West Brom v Manchester United

vida needs to have another good game ..

hope to see brown on the bench for this .. hasnt he been training for a few days now

as long as he wears a short sleeved jersey we should be fine.

Fergie said Brown and Rio would be back for the Everton game, if it was played on the monday as originally scheduled, so they are doubt for the Everton game, don't see either making this match.

Going to be very tough with all the injury problems - the defence is going to be the worry as midfield/attack we are ok...ish. I would imagine it will be Fletcher at right back, Neville and Vidic in central defence and O'Shea at LB - I don't really see any other options, can't see Eckersley starting.

Wonder if we will see Macheda on the bench for the game, as he would appear to be the next striker in line (with Welbeck being out of the game, along with Rooney)

Midfield will be interesting though, as with Anderson, Nani and Park all out we don't have players to change it up; so we will have to rely on Giggs and Scholes to put in another shift, without much downtime between games. We need them to perform, hopefully they will be ok.

VDS
Eckersley Neville Vidic O'Shea
Fletcher Carrick Giggs
Ronaldo Berbatov Tevez

3-0

Will be fun to watch our squad for this game :)

Macheda should be in it- Brandy ?

It seems WBA are more fecked than us with injuries. Almoust no centerbacks for tuesday and their best midfielder got injured in the Fa cup game.

I'd rather play Fletcher at Right Back than watch Eckersley get a start.

Televised?

Not as far as I can tell. But I stopped searching when I saw that Canal+ show it in Denmark...
This is what I found:

BHT 1
Canal+ Sport 1 in Poland
Canal+ Sport 2 in Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway
Diema
ESPN Brazil
G Sports 1
Hi Soccer
Nova Sports 2 (Hellas)
NTV+ Football
Premiere Sport Portal
Show Sports 1&2
Sky Sports 1 in Italy
Spormax Digiturk
Sport 1 in Netherlands
Sport 2 in Ukraine
Sport TV1
SuperSport 1 (DigitAlb)
SuperSport 3 (ZA)
YES Sport 2

...these channels definitely show the game live

The bench is going to be weak, maybe the weakest we have had in a league game for years.

--------------VDS------------
Fletcher--Neville--Vidic--O'Shea
Ronaldo--Carrick--Scholes--Giggs
---------Tevez--Berba---------

subs: PIG, Gibson, Tosic, Eckersely, Chester, POssebon, Macheda

Maybe Nani will be fit?

With their defense being worse off than ours I see us crushing them 3-0. Our offense is perfectly fine and able and we still have the creativity of the middle to score and create goals. They'll surely play pure defense so with Vidic staying back we shouldn't get caught out. Their defense is terrible so our experienced players should get one over them. Not afraid at all.

----------VDS---------
Fletcher-Nevile-Vidic-O'Shea
Ronaldo-Carrick-Giggs-Tosic
-----Berbatov----Tevez------

2-Ronaldo, 1-Berbatov

Should see our Possebon, Eckersely and Scholes in. Scholes for the last bit of time to finish it off. If we're 3 up, I'd love to see a young striker or midfielder given the chance. Gibson doesn't do it for me, sorry- looks out of his depth.

can see us bagging a few here but you never know. would like us to keep a clean sheet also, to get the record.

C'mon Utd!

Comrads.

This will be the side.

VDS
Fletcher Vida Evans O'Shea
Ronaldo Carrick Giggs Tosic
Berba Tevez

I think Tevez is in cracking form.

Gary Nev for Evans and I reckon that is the best United can do. Maybe Giggs out left and Scholes with Carrick, even with these injuries I don't think SAF wants to start Tosic yet if he can avoid it.

Yup. Still mental.

What is mental about Tosic playing? Evans is obviously out and Gary Nev will play at centre back. But I think Tosic has a good shout of playing tomorrow, simply due to a lack of available wide players, although ideally SAF would not want him to. Possibly Giggs will play wide left and Scholes will partner Carrick but SAF must be tempted to rest Scholes and play Giggs central(where he looks much better these days) and to do that, Tosic would have to play.

So we have to choose:

VDS

Fletch/Vida/Nev/Sheasy
Giggs/Scholes/Carrick/Ronnie
Tevez/Berba

OR
rest Scholes for the toffees:

VDS
Flecth/Vida/Nev/Sheasy
Tosic/Giggs/Carrick/Ronnie
Tevez/Berba

Either way though...not the strongest team...hopefully a few players can make it back for the Everton match still...they've got a fair amount of injuries as well tbf, Yakuba, Saha, and Vaughan all out, and so is Arteta.

Eckersley playing right back and Fletcher playing right wing or centre midfield is also a possibility I would not rule out with Carrick and Giggs the partnership or Giggs wide left. Tomorrow's side is going to be far from ideal though. Fergie's going to have to either play all the experienced players together and not give Scholes a week's rest, which is something he does not like doing now, or play someone inexperienced or lacking fitness like Eckersley or Tosic. It really is a case of getting a result tomorrow and hoping Wes, Rio and Park are back for Saturday.

True...but I'd feel worried about Eckersley playing a full 90 in matches we need to win...we could throw him Eckersley in if we gain control, take Scholes off, have Fletch move to midfield. Or wing and have Giggs move to CM. Still, nervous times.

You could say exactly the same about Tosic as he is completely unproven for United and is short of fitness. Plus it is not as if playing Fletch at right back is tried and tested, he has featured there before, but he is not a right back and would be much better for United playing in the centre. All the possible selections have difficulties, tbh, I am probably leaning towards playing Scholes and Giggs with Fletcher right back and leaving Eckersley and Tosic out. At least they have experience and quality in abundance, although ideally shifting Giggs from the central is not something I want us to get in the habit of doing.

Moving Giggs central might be the only option though...the issue here is that we have arguably a tougher match on the 31st right after...so managing limited resources here is gonna be key, this is where SAF has to do as he's done before and shine as a manager.

Giggs will start tomorrow notwithstanding the Everton match, SAF has more or less said that Fletcher and Giggs are certs to play after not playing against Spurs. I suppose as Gibson has played there Carling Cup, he might well play right mid instead of a unfit Tosic with Ronaldo wide left. The more it is considered, the more I would not rule out anyone getting a game.

I wouldn't be surprised if Eckersley gets a game and didn't someone mention that Fabio might be ok? Plus Gibson's been played in right midfield a few times, which would free Giggs up to play on the left.

Seriously doubt Tosic is ready to start a PL game just yet but you never know. The "still mental" comment was really only aimed at Scholesy who is... well... mental...

Fair enough. Fabio and Welbeck are both out going on all news sites I have read. Eckersley is certainly a possibility but the same arguments that can be made against Tosic would apply to playing Eckersley, both inexperienced and with the reserves not playing regularly both lacking competitive football. I don't think Tosic is ready to start either, ideally, but this is a far from ideal situation and SAF will be making some form of compromise whoever starts tomorrow.

Did I read somewhere that Tosic has played at left back? or was it just some tards suggesting he could? Even if he has I wouldn't start him just yet. With all the injuries it hard to predict a team but I would go with something like-

-----------------VDS-------------------

Fletch------Nev--------Vida-------O'shea

------Scholes---Carrick----Giggs---------

Ronaldo----------------Tevez------------
---------------Berba---------------------

Although Scholes might be on the bench with Gibson starting wide right.
