And right now, at this moment, I would rather have Torres than Rooney on the squad if I was SAF, how's that for anti-Liverpool bias?
Thank feck you're not the manager

if you wouldn't rather have the 07-08 Torres over the 07-08 Rooney, then not only do you have red-tinted glasses but you're also deluded like the scousers are.
different strokes for different folksI wouldn't and I'm not biased at all. Torres scored more goals last season, but James Beattie scored more than Bergkamp ever did in a single season in the premier league. Don't forget that Rooney had three injuries last season and still his Goals + Assists figure in the league is higher than Torres' despite playing less games.
if Torres can manage to be that effective in that dire-footballing culture of Rafa, just imagine what he would do with a more creative/offensive manager![]()
I think you'll find that in most defensive setups, a single striker scores a huge chunk of goals.
like Drogba with Mourinho's Chelsea? I guess so...
What about Spain in Euro 08? Torres was brilliant!
He's not a 2nd striker, and if he plays centrally ahead of one or two other CMs then that makes him a CM also. That's unless of course you've invented a new central position which is neither striker nor midfielder. He's not a CM he plays centrally ahead of the CM ...
Give up. They have absolutely no idea what they're on about, yet they're as stubborn and determined to argue as they are plentiful.
Benitez always plays 4231, he never plays two up. So not only don't you know where your men are playing you don't even know what you're playing. Plan 9 from outer space.

to be fair, many mancs have an irrational love for torres that somehow transcends rivalries.
to be fair, what you're describing is an attacking midfielder in a 4-5-1 that can also be called a 4-2-3-1He's not a 2nd striker, and if he plays centrally ahead of one or two other CMs then that makes him a CM also. That's unless of course you've invented a new central position which is neither striker nor midfielder.
The only difference is that he is an attacking CM (usually as part of an attacking midfield trio in 4-2-3-1, including both LM/LW and RM/RW) whilst the other one or two CMs (depending on the system played) have a more more deep-lying role.
