West Brom v Manchester United

Who am I to argue with SAF but I would prefer Oshea to partner Vidic in CD; move Nev to his natural RB position and get someone else in at LB.

Should Edwin van der Sar keep a clean sheet at the Hawthorns tomorrow against West Bromwich Albion, then the veteran goalkeeper will set a new Premier League record.

If the 38-year-old goalkeeper manages to keep his net intact until the 84th minute, then he will have beaten the current Premier League record of 1,025 minutes without conceding a goal, set by Petr Cech for Chelsea in the 2004/05 season.

That achievement would be made all the more remarkable by the fact that United have been hampered by a long injury list that has wreaked particular havoc amongst their defenders.

Would be nice to set another record and get the three points in the process :)

Who else can play left back?

Supposedly Tosic used to play LB quite frequently for both club and country... But then who do we play on the wing?

I'd go along with pretty much everyone else in predicting:

-------------------VdS-------------------
Fletcher---Neville---------Vidic------O'Shea
-----------Carrick--------Giggs------------
Ronaldo-------------------------------Tosic
--------------Tevez--Berba----------------

Bench: Foster, Chester, Eckersley, Gibson, Possebon, Macheda plus either Scholes or Brown (dependant on fitness)

i heard Tosic has only played LB once for club, and never for country.

I don't think my nails can take another 1-0 win.

Both our squads are so wafer thin at the momment, lets pray that we don't get any more injuries during the game otherwise we're fecked.

VDS
Fletcher-Neville-Vidic-O'Shea
Scholes-Carrick-Giggs
Ronaldo-Berba-Tevez

Good team that. In spite of the injuries.

WBA have a LOT of injuries themselves. I don't know whether this will lead to a more conservative approach, but Mowbray prides himself on producing teams that play open football. It is a tough place to go, but it will be one of the more open encounters we have had in a while I should think.

Although it seems he may be looking to play "tight" on this occasion...

I thought the game was tomorrow - what a result.

I will be expecting a 6-0 win, and a new league record for clean sheets.

-------------VDS-------------

O Shea -- Nev - Vidic - FABIO

Fletcher - Scholes - Carrick - Ronaldo

-------Tevez -----Berba----

Tevezx2
Ronaldox2

Yeah I reckon that might be it.

Am I the only one who thinks either Rio or Wes will start. Both were in full training by the looks of the photos posted up last week. Yeah Fergie said they wouldnt be fit til Everton at the earliest but he always throws swerves in these pre match press conferences

I think Rio will be saved for Everton, but Brown might make an appearance on the bench in my opinion. I doubt he'll risk throwing him straight back in after so long out. Plus to be honest a back 4 of Fletcher-Neville-Vidic-O'Shea should be good enough to beat West Brom (who have injury problems of their own)

according to the Times, 4 of WBA's CBs are injured

I think Fergie would like that as well, but at right back Neville will have to do a lot more leg work. Playing him in the middle probably allows us to use him in more matches, and at this stage it's absolutely crucial.

I also reckon we'll see Gibson starting, not sure who will be in midfield and who on the wing - him or Giggs.

How come every single poster puts Tosic in the side, or on the bench? I'm pretty sure he's not even in the squad for the game.

United (from): Van der Sar, Foster, Kuszczak, Neville, Vidic, O'Shea, Chester, Eckersley, Ronaldo, Carrick, Fletcher, Gibson, Possebon, Scholes, Giggs, Cleverley, Berbatov, Tevez, Macheda, Brandy, Petrucci.

The squad above is taken from TeamTalk.

VDS
Fletcher - Neville - Vidic - O'Shea
Ronaldo - Scholes - Carrick - Giggs
Tevez - Berbatov

Foster, Chester, Eckersley, Gibson, Possebon, Petrucci, Marcheda

Knowing Fergie, this won't be the team fielded tonight. I can see one of Gibson or Possebon starting for either Scholes or Giggs.

On a side note, I'd be fantastic to see Petrucci or Marcheda given a chance if we are comfortably leading. Been watching the pair every chance I get on MUTV and they both look extremely talented. Petrucci in particular is so classy for such a young age.

Tosic
Fletcher - Neville - Vidic - Tosic
Ronaldo - Tosic - Carrick - Giggs
Tosic - Berbatov

I heard from a reliable source that Tosic is fast so he can cover a few positions.
he's clearly a nose ahead of most of the available players on the roster.

Marcheda should actually start because of his name

Teamtalk talk absolute shite. Cleverly is away on loan.....

Chester Macheda, Brandy, Petrucci played yesterday. Chester did well from what I saw (sadly only first half)

So I'm sure tosic will be on the bench but we'll see

Is the team that everyone wants, looks our strongest and away from Home in the Prem you can't feck about. Only problem might be Scholes playing again and Giggsy on the wing. Meaning he might favour Gibson or Tosic at some point.

Agree with that line up,seem's the most logical choice to me considering we are away and there are 3 points at stake.Play players who have experience and then bring on the younger or newer players at later times.West brom maybe hit with injuries too and look quite weak but never the less will be up for it and ready to put the boot in.

Let's hope that's right. I could see him start tonight then, in order to give Giggs a rest for the Everton game.

It's weird though how such a 'high-profile' footballing site would just make up our squad. You'd think that would be the sort of information you'd have no problems getting.

Hopefully giggs and scholes have enough in them and we control the game early, might be a slight risk and it is a shame we are so hit with injuries and have no other cover at right back say a hargreaves allowing fletcher to join in his best position with scholes and carrick.

Is Berg playing?
