Sneijder - Barca's lead is lucky
Midfielder claims Messi key to Barca, while Madrid more a team

Real Madrid midfielder Wesley Sneijder claims Barcelona are fortunate to hold a 12-point lead at the top of La Liga.

Sneijder believes Madrid are more of a team than their great rivals, who have been heavily reliant on individual performances to take a grip on the title race.

"The difference at Barcelona is (Lionel) Messi," Sneijder said. "We are a team and they are individuals.

"They do have a lot of quality and this season they have a great team. But they are also lucky, as they showed against Racing the other day (when Messi scored twice).
Luck

"This season they are having the luck that we had last term because there are moments when they do not play so well, but they do have great individuals and luck."

Sneijder admits that he is yet to return to his best form following a three-month spell out with injury following last summer's European Championships.

The Dutch international told AS: "I am not happy because I am not playing to the level I want to. I know that I can improve and that I have more quality than I am showing now."

No, they're not. Some things are just meant to be Wesley.

Funny how he's moaning about Barca's luck, yet, at the same time admitting that Real's success last season was only because they were "lucky"

It's obviously from AS, so I wouldn't be surprised if they made it up. Otherwise he's a complete idiot, Barca are lightyears ahead of everyone in La Liga. Delighted to see the Real Madrid wankers being desperate though

Obviously it's a sort of rallying call, but it's a stupid one.

Firstly to say that Barcelona aren't a team is rubbish, and secondly to say that Real Madrid are a team is even further from the truth.

Their play is so disjointed it's untrue, and they've relied on Robben to produce something out of nothing 9 times out of 10.

Defensively they've been a shambles ever since Makelele left.

They have a decent defensive record since Ramos came in.

Aye, from day one he's got them back to basics.

For a while under Capello they did the same thing.

Under Schuster they were just awful though, Gago and Guti are possibly the two laziest players you could have to play in a deep midfield role.

It's not even that their defence is bad, with the right protection I think Pepe could become a lot better Cannavaro was still quality before he went to Real, Woodgate and Metzelder obviously suffered from injuries but any time they did play they were awful.

They're just left too exposed at the back too often, so Diarra's looking like a good move.

But will he be saying that next season when they have Ronaldo?

how these footballers/managers who have agents/PR co's/communication firms to thier disposal make such ridiculous statements is beyond me
Essien+calculator = Snijder + luck = Rafa + Fahcts = stupidity!

I guess he forgot how the ref gifted them the win against Osasuna.

2 penalties for Osasuna not given and the ref gave the player 2 yellows for diving and sent him off. :wenger:

Guti isn't really well suited for a deep lying midfield role. He's much better slightly up the pitch or just behind the attack. When Guti's not playing they look to lack creativity. Sneijder has been absolutely shocking this season. Why he's coming out with these idiotic statements instead of improving his game is beyond me.

Sneijder's never impressed me, just like Arteta if you take away his set piece ability he's not all that.

But yeah he's been shocking this season, probably because of his injury mind.

You say Makelele, but Hierro and Del Bosque also left that summer. Just as important if not more, imo.

yeah alot of it could be down to that. Sneijder seemed like just a good player to me before the euros but he was impressive there.

Fair point.

Speaking about Del Bosque, he's doing a great job for Spain as of yet.

Could be an outside bet for Sir Alex's successor?

I don't see why not tbf. Real sacked him for winning JUST the league. Then it took them 5 years to win the league:lol: How old is he?
I'd much rather have someone young who can be here for years to come as stability is one of the most important aspects for a club.

He's 58 now, so younger than the likes of Lippi(60), Wenger(59), Capello(62) who've been mentioned, but older than O'Neill(56), Mourinho(46) and Spalletti(49).

He could do another 10 years you'd think, which would be long enough. He's proven he knows how to be successful and he can do it playing attractive football.

Yah scoring an average of 5 goals per match is luck then.

That's an average. Games are not looked at as averages. I'm sure most of you here look at the statistics and never watch the games. Barcelona have been shitlucky this season. They're going to hit a bad run pretty soon is my guess. IF they get hit by injuries they'll stumble real bad.

But will he be saying that next season when they have Ronaldo?

Failed attempt at wumming.

Holy feck, you're an absolute plank.

I wouldn't be surprised if you actually hadn't watched them this season.

They've hit the woodwork more than anyone else in the league, and they've still blown teams away, with all sorts of goals.

I suggest you watch the games. Not look at the statistics or highlights. Football is not highlights and statistic. They have not deserved to win every game that they have and 5 or 6 games this season they have been very lucky. Starting from Espanyol, Shakhtar etc etc. They have been outplayed many times only to get a flukey penalty or goal right at the end.

I wouldn't be surprised if they blow this lead or if they end up with nothing at the end of the season.

I suggest you stop watching football all together.

If you think Messi coming on and scoring late goals is flukey, you're a idiot.

I've missed two of their league matches all season.

Where did I say that?

I assumed that's the match you meant when you were talking about Shakhtar.

When exactly were they lucky against Espanyol? I hope you're not talking about the cup.

How many Barca games have you watched this season?

Half a dozen and a bunch of highlights, in all honesty.

But to say they don't deserve their lead because they have fluked their way through most of the games is retarded, to say the least.

Its not "flukey", Its been rare them having to get late goals this season but the fact that they do is due to them pushing till the very end. Messi's usually the talisman behind their comebacks and its not down to luck. The Barca hate on this forum is ridiculous, just screams of jealousy.

You have to give credit where its due.

Exactly, he must think we're lucky too with the late goals we score.

If thats league games then you've only missed a couple:eek: I've seen them play around 16 times in ALL competitions. I usually hate watching opposition teams but their football is so easy on the eye and you can't help but get behind them thrashing teams. Henry seems to be getting into the groove again imvho.

Sky+ is your friend. :D

Henry's getting back into some sort of form, but he'll never be the player he once was.

Still clinical as ever in terms of scoring and creating, but the all round play's just not there.
