Manchester United v Internazionale

Would have started with Rooney ,Tevez but happy with the overall squad.

There are Anderson and Fletcher on the bench. I don't really see the need having a third central midfield option available, but Fergie obviously knows best. Who I am to judge...

Ah yeh course i forgot about Anderson. Yeh that does seem a bit dd then to be honest. Although Nani has probably been busy lately what with all his concerts coming up and all....

We really need to settle things with Jose Mourinho tonight. Sky Sports are talking up the 'Mourinho Factor'. He is making everything all about him and taking the focus off the game. I cannot stress enough how important it is for us to win this contest.

I reeeeally don't want us to be the only English side not in the quarters. Early goal please, lads.

Counting down the minutes now...

I have no idea whether I feel confident or not? Not sure if I'm just trying to guard against over-confidence, but right now I feel that if we play well we have the beating of any team.

Of course, some less wasteful finishing wouldn't go amiss...

Giggs on the wing??? Scholes partnering Carrick. Time to let the old guard play less crucial games imo. Sorry playing two players approaching their mid 30s in midfield is not what I want to see. Yes play Giggs in the middle with either Park or Nani on the left.

Scholes could well end up getting a red early on tonight, he is that much off the pace. Hope I am wrong.

Giggs won't play on the wing. At least I pray he doesn't anyway.

Giggs will play in the mid with Rooney on the wing.

That's the only thing that worries me a bit

Surprised Park and Fletcher have been left out. I'd have included both.

gibson over nani on the bench ..with fletch and ando already there as backup CMs ..
is nani injured ?

Why?

He's still a good winger, with a great eye for a pass, a good cross on him, very tricky on the ball, does more than enough defensively, and pulls full backs out of position with his movement.

And yes, I do remember you were a Giggs basher earlier this season.

so let me get this straight, if we win 3 v 2, we lose because Inter have 2 away goals making it 3 v 4 right?

Jacob's prediction

Line-up:

------------------------------------VDS----------------------------

O'Shea-----------Ferdinand-------------Vidic--------------Evra

Ronaldo-----------Scholes-------------Carrick-------------Giggs

---------------------Rooney-------------Berbatov----------------

Score: Manchester United 2 - 1 Internazionale

Goals: Rooney, Ronaldo

Player to watch: Scholes

Well picked that team, Jacob. Except that I think you'd probably find Carrick, Scholes and Giggs in central roles, with Rooney playing on one of the wings...

Rooney will play left to counter the dynamism of Maicon. Giggs will play in the middle like he has done pretty much all season to great success.

Away goals only count double if the tie is level ie a draw. Then away goals count double - they dont always count double, if we win tonight we win overall reguardless of how many they scored

EDIT the aways goals scheme helps if ties are drawn ie you draw one all at home then you draw 2-2 in the away game your team would go through as it would be 5-4 on away goals rule. Just remember away goals rule only comes into effect if the tie is at a draw on Agg

I disagree, he doesnt have the acceleration to trouble full backs like he used to. Hes a different player nowadays. Im sure i heard Fergie say he's more suited to a central role these days.

I think we might line up with him in a 4-3-3 formation.
