FC Porto vs Manchester United

I don't have a problem with people coming on here at HT but it's the people who post "Goooooooooooal!" and post here throughout the 90 minutes of the game.

O right, got ya. Yeah i dont know how people can sit with a computer screen in front of them and watch the match - but seeing as most watch the game on their computer its quite likely they have the caf open. It also gives people that arent watching the game or at work some idea to how we are playing

Anyone fancy a Scholesy screamer to get us out of trouble?

Then and again the last CL screamer he scored caused me to wake my entire family at 3am with my celebrations. And to be embraced by people I don't even know the next day at uni while wearing my Scholes shirt.

TBH i cant see him starting or having a part tonight... he might but i somehow feel the 11 we put out today will have to do the job and i doubt he will be in it

Usually I'd agree but I think no Fletcher will force our hand somewhat.

He looked better on Saturday so I'm not worried if he is involved.

But thats my point he played 60-70 min in the first leg, a full 90 4 days later can he really hack 3 games in the space of 8 days? Personally i reckon Anderson will start with Carrick and Giggs

The more I think about it, the more I have to agree with those three. Anderson really needs to put in a great game although being out for so long will be tough for him. I'd like to see him do what Fletcher does and just try and tackle all over the pitch, he has better passing then Fletcher and I hope his dribbling is solid. Giggs wont offer much in controlling the middle but hopefully he'll make some intelligent passes and Carrick I hope plays way better then he has been.

Saying that, Park and Rooney I expect to start and they'll probably add more to helping the middle out. Need a Villa game for Ronaldo, get us a good goal in the first 25 minutes and make them come to us where we'll get them on the counter.

I think 2 really deep lying midfielders would be good for us. Last week their front 3 caused us so much trouble. Unfortunately the best men IMO for the job (hargreaves and fletcher) are out

give it about 20 minutes.

i'm guessing this will be the line-up.

VDS
Neville
Rio
Vidic
Evra
Ronaldo
Anderson
Carrick
Nani
Rooney
Berbatov

I don't think it'll be too far away from that tbh.

Seems like a solid team but i reckon we will see Giggs for Nani with a midfield 3 instead of just Carrick and Anderson

I have the line up!!

Nick Coppack is travelling with the United squad for the Champions League quarter-final second leg against FC Porto. Return here for regular updates throughout the trip...

17:10 I was just on my way back up to my room when the lift doors opened and in stepped one of the da Silva twins. I had no idea if it was Fabio or Rafael, so just settled for "Hello". Surely Sir Alex must be tempted to make a sneaky switch at half-time... referees would never tell the difference! Meanwhile, back in my room, the local sports channel is repeating, in full, the first leg from Old Trafford. To be fair, it's a decent enough game... although I might switch off after about 85 minutes.

13:30 Paddy's disappeared downstairs to have lunch with Alex Stepney, Mickey Thomas and Arthur Albiston. David Meek, the veteran journalist who's covered the Reds since 1958, tells me Mr Crerand hasn't changed one bit over the years. Apparently in his playing days Paddy was always the last one on the team coach and would inevitably arrive, out of breath, with some outlandish story about why he was late. There's never a dull moment when he's around...

13:16 United HQ is like the calm before the storm at the moment. Later, there'll be TV cameras, photographers and dozens of fans waiting outside the hotel to catch a glimpse of the players as they board the coach to the stadium. Now, however, it's eerily quiet... except for Paddy Crerand down in the lobby, who you can never shut up! Oh, I've just seen Sky Sports News reporter James Cooper and he says "Manchester's finest" are out in force in the centre of town. It certainly sounds like Reds are having a great time here in Portugal. Let's hope they've still got plenty to shout about come the final whistle tonight. 10:10 I've just been for a quick stroll and can report that Reds are everywhere! The lads should enjoy some great vocal support this evening. I chatted briefly to one fan, who said he's over the moon at the prospect of Rio Ferdinand returning to the Reds' defence. His prediction: United to win 2-0.
