Burnley v Manchester United

ah frig, starting nights tomorrow so will miss keeping in touch with this one. might try and avoid the score and watch highlights when i get in. Going to be a tricky one, maybe trickier than some will imagine. I hope we don't underestimate it.

I can see us scoring early here so hopefully we'll get a routine win. 2 or 3 nil..

I see.

Is that because the other games are on another subscription channel that you don't want to pay for, or is it that only 8-10 games a year are available full stop?

I can, if I want, watch most, or all, of the Utd league games live on telly here in the US. just have to find the time to go to my local pub. Here's the lineups for the live showings for Wed and Saturday there.

Wednesday August 19th

2:45pm EST

Burnley v Man Utd

Hull City v Spurs

Lyon v Anderlecht

Panathinakos v Atletico Madrid

Saturday August 22nd

10:00am EST

Man City v Wolves

Arsenal v Portsmouth

Wigan v Man Utd

Sunderland v Blackburn

5:00pm EST (taped)

Hull City v Bolton

7:30pm (live)

DC United v LA Galaxy

8:30pm (taped)

Birmingham City v Stoke City

and on Sundays we get all the games too :D

Espn not showing any midweek matches anymore or is it because there's UCL qualifiers? My local subscription tv increased the subscription fee (think its because of Espn getting the tv rights) and then the second league match of the season they are not showing?

Can easily start Park with Nani on Bench or out all together if not fit.

expect that anderson will play. Whatas the latest with Carrick.

Some how got it into my head that this was tonight, very disappointed now. Althoguh the one day turnaround would have United no favours.

their first home game in the premierleague .. they will be up for it

they gave the london clubs a tough time last season . have strengthened
just signed bikey from reading , that fletcher was highly rated not so long back ..

no rio, vidic, evans, nev, rafael or Vds .. will take 3 points anyway they come and hopefully no more injuries

Would like too see a few goals and a good performance but the main thing is 3 points.

would like to see fabio play on the wing sometime .. maybe the league cup

footy is back .. its great
i missed it

Good team but would prefer Owen for Berba. Wellback for Macheda and if Park is starting then atleast Valencia on bench.

I think we'll draw this.

We won't. We're very good beating crap teams.

Last season we got 70 out of 72 points from the bottom 12 clubs. Tremendous record that. The draw against Newcastle ruined the 100 % record.

Of course we only got 20 out of 42 from the top 8 (7 really, we're not playing Manchester United), which is a bit crap to be fair. But 90 point will win you the league so it doesn't really matter where you get the points.

Foster
Fabia Oshea Brown Evra
Valencia Carrick Anderson Park
Berbatov Rooney

Perhaps a good ol' Scholes/Carrick reunion? Possibly when Anderson gets subbed after 60 because he is gassed.

Looks like Rooney will be captian. A sign of things to come. After Rio it will surely be Rooney.

O'Shea will captain this side. He did against Birmingham and deserves to be ahead of Rooney in the pecking order. Rooney's time will come though.
I'm confident we'll win and I can't wait for the game to start. The wait for the new season was way too long and now there is our new challenge... Burnley won't stop us.

Does anyone want to see Rooney and Owen start together, am looking forward to that.

I always think of a captain being a player who is either: the best player (Rooney YES - O'Shea NO), the most respected (Rooney NO - O'Shea NO), the best organiser (Rooney NO - O'Shea NO), or the most inspirational (Rooney YES - O'Shea NO).

Also depends if Giggs is playing...

Has Rooney ever nutmegged Figo? NO

O Shea for Captain

3-0 win tonight, Berba brace

Berbatov Rooney

I agree with this team. Fletch to come on instead of Scholes though. I'd nearly consider playing Owen. Nearly.

Any news on Nani? Is he fit?
Yes, he's fit, but I would give him a break and start with Valencia & Park on the wings, Nani on the bench. He played 17 minutes for Portugal and 45 against Birmingham.

He doesn't need to start at Burnley, he'll be needed on Saturday at JJB more.

i like how nani has become our first choice winger and we need to save him for the more important games :D

i really hope he steps up too ..

for this game .. bit worried about our back4

no rio, vidic, evans, neville, rafael .. forcing us to play our 4th and 5th choice CBs and a 5th choice RB .. thats messed up

Jacob's predicion

Line-up:

------------------Foster---------------
Fabio------O'Shea------Brown------Evra
Valencia----Carrick----Anderson-----Nani

Score: Burnley 0 - 2 Manchester United

Goals: Rooney, Owen

Player to watch: Owen

First choice goalkeeper out as well. It does show how immensely strong we are in defence though.... Foster, Fabio, Brown, O'Shea and Evra is still very good.

I think this game could be tricky, especially if Burnley get any early encouragement. Still going for a 2-1 win though. I'm hoping for a Carrick/Fletcher CM pairing, with Giggs again in reserve for an outing later on.

-----------Foster
--DeLaet Brown O'Shea Evra

-------Rooney Berbatov

TK; Fabio, Cathcart; Fletcher, Gibson, Nani; Owen

Got a weird feeling about this one. scrappy 1-0 win, with a late goal

Anderson to score obviously

Gone for a big 4-1 demolition at 22/1
also lumped on Owen hatrick at 25/1

I think Fergie will have given them a rollacking over Sundays 2nd half performance and we will see a response tonight

Someone care to explain why none of the midweek games are on TV?
