It's gonna be a boring 1-2 - 0 victory for us. I don't like this tactic when playing against less capable teams. It should only be used when playing teams who have odds at beating us.
 
half time and i would say that it was a poor game, and we should be beating teams like this, we are far too cautious and should be a little more adventurous, i just dont think it works with Rooney on his own up front, you can see his frustrations !

Not great from us. We seem to be playing within ourselves. Gotta step up the tempo in the second half if we want to win this. Their keeper has hardly been worked and thats the most disappointing part. Must do better.

Lack of quality on our final ball at the minute. Front 3 not really working so far. Nani has been a bit too quiet in and around the box and Valencia, despite having his fullback on toast, hasnt been able to find his target in the box often enough.

I don't get it either. We've just come off such a great performance away to the on form team in the premier league. We've looked frightened of Besiktas. I mean Basiktas, really?

I hope Anderson drops into the 'hole' behind Rooney in the second half. And someone repair Carick, he's forgotten a lot of things about the game of football.

I think we are fine....first game of the cup, away....we are just biding our time. I reckon Fergie will keep with the same team for the second half..wear them down, then bring on Berba or even owen for the final 20 25 minutes...
 
Aside from a couple of decent passes, Carrick has been below par. At one stage he and Vidic tackled each other almost resulting in a good chance for them.

Scholes, Evra, Evans and Rooney have been good. Ando needs to get on the ball a bit more, his pace could create something here.
 
Poor first half, we really didn't create a decent chance. Disappointing football, bar the possession. Carrick needs to step up, apart from his shot he's pretty shite once again. Rooney is getting pretty upset that there's no support up front. Evra so far has impressed me the most.

Is Giggs on the bench?
 
it's a long road, this is dull but fine in the long run. Been like this in europe for years,he likes the 1-0 victories most it seems, he's gettin all Italian lately, think he likes the tactical game in europe and he feels this is best, personally I think it's fascinating watch us develop since getting ripped apart by Gothenberg all those years ago.

Don't think anybody has been bad, think we need to go 442 though, I'd take Carrick off for Berba or Owen.
 
Shit but not unexpected with the formation. Rooney as the lone striker is ok if he gets support and stays up front but neither is happening. He says he doesnt want to play on the wing so he should stop moving out there so much, particularly when we have 5 in midfield as it is.

Valencia's looked decent, strong and quick. But there's no one getting anywhere near some of his crosses.
