Manchester United vs Manchester City

We have to go for 4-4-2, put pressure on citeh's new defense. With Adebayor banned, I don't think we need to watch out that much defensively. Make either Nani or Valencia run at the Fullbacks. Let Anderson try to dictate the game as much. Fletcher will put in the energy needed to win against a three midfield. Look for Rooney as much as possible and hope that his partner will give him the support we need. Our defense is still one of the best in the League.

If we score early I predict a 3-0, if we come to the second half a 1-0 is all I need to make my day.

Foster
Oshea Rio Vidic Evra
Valencia Fletcher Giggs Nani
Rooney Owen

If Scholes didn't play on Tues he would be in but Giggs has enough creativity to get the job done. Expect to see Anderson and Carrick at some point. Owen WILL start. I have a stange feeling for some reason. Scoring in the Manchester derby would do wonders for his confidence and the fans would all instantly fall in love with him.

Scholes is banned. Red card Vs Spurs. Thats certainly the reason why he played 2 consequetive games.

Tough calls in that line up; anderson over carrick, purely because of form - now is a good time to signal to anderson that ferguson believes in him and will give him this kind of responsibility, to shine in these big games. And Nani and giggs on the wings over valencia because at the moment nani has more end product and is more familar with the team. Fletcher is going to have a stormer so will giggs and rooney.

Lets show them are real quality and go at them from the off, i want us to display our courage, power, skills and desire in this game and show them why we are the kings of the england and Manchester and always will be. I am sure they will be fired up for this, you can count on almost the whole starting 11 (bar maybe nani) to be ready to explode for this and i am certain Ferguson will guaranteed send out a team who will be 100% ready and focused to win at all costs.

I wish i could be there, so for those that are going, raise the roof and let them cnuts know that we still are the best and make sure they feel sick to the gut when we score and please send them home miserable!!!:devil:

Score: Manchester United 2 - 0 Manchester City

Unfortunately, i don't think SAF will go with such an attacking team or instinct. It has been like this for most of last season as well. Only hoping that things will change.

on first glance it might appear attacking but if you consider, giggys, fletcher and anderson will all do a lot of work in the middle, fletcher has great work rate and closing down, so does giggys and his tackling is super, anderson also when he is fired up because a solid midfielder who makes it hard for us to be played through. Rooney will also drop deep as well berbatov, and this line up allow us to change to a 433 and be very effective on the counter when need be. And the attacking threat in undeniable.

I can never get the line up right though so I will probably be wrong, but this is what im kinda guessing and hopefully expecting :nervous:

When i was talking about the line-up, i actually meant the way we play. I mean, it has been a while where we actually go out and take it to the opposition and play fluent attacking football. We are a bit hesitant in our play these days and only hoping for things to change and go back to our old days where we just go out there to just crush the opposition.

I know exactly what you mean mate, the movement just isnt quiet there from the midfield, they arent gambling as much, we are still going through a transitional period (post Ron and Tev) and players arent completely comfortable yet. I am sure in a month or so the understanding of the new system and the players understandings will develop.

I was at Old Trafford today just having a visit and the atmosphere was already beginning to buzz. It's going to be amazing tomorrow.

Come On United.

Foster
O'Shea Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Park Fletcher Giggs Nani
Rooney Berbatov

Which is more like:

Foster
Ferdinand Vidic
O'Shea-----------------
--Park -- Fletcher --------
---------------Giggs --- Evra
-----------Berbatov -----Nani
Rooney

3-0.

----------------Foster----------------

O'Shea-----Vidic-----Evans/Rio-----Evra

Park-----Fletcher-----Giggs------Nani

---------Rooney---Berbatov--------

subs
PIG
Fabio
Brown
Carrick
Anderson
Owen
Valencia

Park has to play based on past Fergie choice. He was benched Wednesday but managed to come on as a sub and do and create more in his 20 minutes than Valencia. City's midfield is pretty deadly with Ireland and SWP attack all match and Barry able to dictate the play for them. I'm sure they'll throw in De Jong who's a bruiser as well.

I think the match ups will be:

Fletcher v. De Jong
Anderson v. Barry
Nani v. SWP (although I think it'd be better for Park to be there to double track on him)
Not sure who the other winger will be at this point. I think they'll go with a 4-4-2 with Tevez and Bellamy. If not Tevez we could see a 4-5-1.

Our best bet:

-----------Foster---------
O'Shea---Vidic--Rio---Evra
Park-Anderson-Fletcher-Nani
--------Rooney-Owen------

Why Owen? Because City's weakness is their new defense who aren't used to directing each other. With Owen's runs and positioning he'd terrorize and confuse them. While Rooney can run in between.

Robinho, Adebayor and Benjani out 100%.
Tevez and Santa Cruz both major doubts.

Ireland is fit.

each to their own.......

Can't stand that chant.

It's classless as feck.

classless my arse - it's a football chant. Do you have an alternative?...........shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Thought not.

fecking hell, has a derby match ever been so crucial?
Well, of course for the Munich memorial game, and we cocked that up.

No repeat performance.

you can't be serious - it's not even a bit crucial. We've had cup semis, relegation deciders, even the odd title decider/pointer against this shite.

In terms of the result, no. In terms of face, I'd probably say yes. Been a long time since the rivalry was ignited like this, the mind games, the poster, Tevez comments, and now Toure, etc. Probably one of the more significant derby matches of recent.

i've got United 4-1,

-------------Foster----------

O'shea-----Rio--Vidic-----Evra

-------Fletcher--Ando-------

Valencia-----Giggs--------Park

------------Rooney----------

They should have anything to worry about upfront so we should be able to win everything in midfield and get Rooney banging em in. My arse is going at this one, twitchin like a rabbits nose.

I hope Anderson starts but I'm not sure he will after getting 90 minutes. Rooney to score

I should have clarified that with 'recent times' to keep the pedantic oldies happy. ;)

I still think the Munich match in 2008 was up there with the most important, and we cocked it up. No more of the same.

Never been so pumped up and exited about a match in the league since Liverpool last year :(. It has to be alot better this time around.

Come on United, hammer them. 3-0. Lets paint this town RED tonight!!

Someone please send me a stream if and when you get one.

Just driving up to OT now....posting from my blackberry woohoooo!!
Anyone be nice enough to pm me the team as soon as it's out, ta! :)
