Finally, a game I'll be able to watch...

Wasn't able to watch today, only caught the last 10 minutes of the derby (luckily) and haven't really been able to watch many games this year.

I'm actually excited to see a couple players on Wolfsburg, especially those two strikers that played so well last year. I've heard that Dzeko started slow (not sure, don't really watch German Football), but I know that Grafite scored a hat trick last week

Have to sell my ticket for this one and for Sunderland. feck work!

Boring, boring, boring is all I can say. As soon as we see the back of this bland group stage system the better.

1-0, Vidic.

Subs: Kuzcszak, Neville, Scholesy, Owen, Welbeck, Giggsy, Gibson
Prediction:2-1 unimpressive win with goals from Berbatov 15th and 67th min

In fairness the group stages are a bit redundant, 2005-6 sucked remember"fans" wanting SAF to be sacked. Remember Fletch scoring a huge goal to silence the critics of the club and beat Chelsea

Agree that the group stage can be a bit boring, but some people are exaggerating here. This is a good game. German champions, good team that plays good football and I think that will look to do so on Wednesday. I'm looking forward to it.

We need to be careful this time around, their strikers are exceptionally good. Dzeko and Grafite are by far the best striking pair in the Bundesliga and are able to cause problems for any centre-back in the world.
We should still win the game though, because this Wolfsburg side built by former manager Magath and now managed by Veh is a team which usually tries to play attacking football, so for once in a while we can hope for team that doesn't park the bus for 90+ minutes. Take care of Misimovic, Dzeko and Grafite and we'll be fine. Personally I expect a high-scoring game.

first champions league game at old trafford this season, how can people call that boring?!i cant wait. if this were bayern munich people would be looking forward to it more, fact is this lot beat munich to the title last year and wont be pushovers. id go:

Foster
Brown
Vidic
Ferdinand
Evra

Valencia
Carrick- could be the game to get back to form
Fletcher
Nani

Berbatov
Rooney

United'll trounce them if they bother. Wolfsbug lost Felix Magath, the man that won them the league and haven't been at anywhere near the same level. They've only won 3 from 7 in the league this year so far.

Dzeko has scored 4 in 6 in the league, and it'll be interesting to see him at this level.

I get the feeling that Sir Alex wanted to rest Giggs for this game, but since he only played just over half an hour against Stoke he'll probably play the majority of this too. I think this line up has produced some of our best performances and should be considered our first choice at the moment. Nani was uninspiring against Stoke, I think he could lose his place. Park will generally be preferred for rather important Champions League games. Carrick might get his chance to come on, after a rather poor start to the season.

Tough game, but with home advantage I think we'll take them.

We need to win this one so that we can relax and send a severely weakened team to Moscow, three days before the Liverpool game.

I'd go with this. Really hope we don't drop Berba and go 4-5-1.

I hope you don't mean to play Anderson on the wing

You're joking right? Wolfsburg won the Bundesliga last season and play one of the more exciting brands of football around Europe, which makes them a formidable opposition who are quintessentially not boring. One of the games of this matchday as far as I'm concerned -- can't wait.

I'd rather play Wolfsburg in a knockout tie at this stage. A cup competition should never be diluted by a group phase, unless it is filled with genuine top quality sides like our 1998-99 group. The whole point of a Cup is that the sword of Damocles hangs over every game, yet in the current system teams can lose two or even three games and still progress. It removes most of danger and excitement we associate with European football.

Any team news out. Hope to see Nani get another chance. I know he had a poor game on saturday but so did Valencia.

Obertan - Nani

Giggs - Valencia - Park - Fletcher

Welbeck - Tosic - Fabio - Rafeal

Hargreaves

I just wanted to see if I could fill the team with wing players...

Fabio/Rafael/Fletcher/OH are all semi-wing players :)

But i'd like to see this team:

ROONEY - BERBALICIOUS

NANI - ANDERSON - CARRICK - VALENCIA

GOD(evra) - VIDIC - RIO - MR. CAPTAINO

FOSTER

:)

I'm expecting an entertaining match..

Wolfsburg used to be managed by a chap called Wolfgang Wolf...facht.

Can't say I know anything of this German side other than they are the defending Bundesliga Champs. They must be good and I am looking forward to the game. I am hoping for a comfortable home win
