Nani

I hope once they got into the sheds at the end of the match Fergie turned to Nani and said (to paraphrase Will Smith in Bad Boys) "Now that's how you play. From now on, that's how you play."

He was great on the right wing in the second half. Died off a little when moved to the left with Valencia's introduction, but was still one of our most dangerous players.

Forget all the needless stopping and starting and trying to beat your main half a dozen times. Just get the ball, look up to see if there's an option in the box, and get it in there to them. And his corners in the second half were the most consistently dangerous we've had since...well, a bloody long time.

Get the feck out of my club, you diving, play acting little fecking cnut. You're a fecking embarrassment to the name of United.

From what I saw 1st half he was poor but 2nd half a lot better with some good crosses and corners. Still greedy but if Ronaldo thinks he will be good (and hes half as good as Ronaldo) then that will do for me

It's hardly hysterical. I don't like seeing players rolling around the pitch feigning injury to try and win an advantage. I've never in my life not backed a United player. I could forgive Ronaldo's theatrics as he was a fantastic footballer, yet what can you say about Nani. It's embarrassing watching him roll around the floor then immediately get up and run after it again. United have never been a cheating team and neither have we ever encouraged that sort of stuff. I hate seeing our players do, I get fecked off when Wayne does it. But today was just disgraceful from Nani. I could hear on the TV his fake scream of pain when I was in a packed pub.

It's hardly hysterical? I think that comment could only have been more hysterical if you were standing on top of a tall building waving your arms around whilst you screamed it.

It's not hysterical. Are you trying to actually defend Nani after the play acting he went through today? Let's forget about his performance, I'm not criticising that. What I am criticising is his disgusting theatrics.

I think it's actually quite unfair to target a player for theatrics because he's not a world class player.

There should be equality, people ignored Ronaldo's antics because he was a great footballer but that was in no way an excuse. Just like you wouldn't have a go at a ref if you win a game, it doesn't excuse a horrendous decision.

When was all this?

Ronaldo wasn't always that great a player........

This is only really nani's second proper season in terms of getting games...go easy on him.

First half he was dire - second half he was very good. It's a pity your not seeing that? It's a pity your here saying you can forgive Ronaldo because he was great...and yet can't see Nani was one of our brightest players in the second half..

pity that ain't it...

I will support Nani as long as he wears the red shirt but I do not believe the kid is good enough. and I believe those 2 things are not mutually exclusive

Let me ask you something. If Nani produced that second half performance week in week out - would he be good enough?

Now based on that - if we accept it took fletcher over 100 games to be accepted and that at 24/25 he started developing his game....why are you so quick to dismiss Nani?.. A player who has not played that many games. A player who's only 22

Maybe people should support him more rather then groan? I don't blame people groaning but he is currently our most talented winger...

Nani did well second half, pleased to see his corners hitting the mark once again. He should be watching his second half performance to see the positives, but he's infuriating more often than not. He can be unplayable on his day but I don't think we have figured out how to harness that in him yet. As long as he performs as he did in the second half I don't think people will have too many complaints as his delivery in the beginning and at the end were causing all sorts of problems, which outweighs the odd bad decision.

crazy

some people on here really have a serious monkey on their back about nani, and its getting very fecking tiresome!

He's fecking 22 years old and some of you have already made your minds up he isnt good enough, and when pushed further you will say that he makes poor decisions. I cant accept that any of you dont see his obvious technical ability, the lad has some fantastic skill on him, a good shot and cross. He's even added a bit of strength to his game, and at 22 years old you think he is the complete player.

You're wrong the lot of you, and i think we'll be seeing a lot of bumped threads in a few years time where you look like muppets.

have faith in the young lad.

I'm not groaning. I'm saying I do not believe Nani is good enough. and if he produced some of his second half performance more regularly then yes he would be good enough. But he does not. And at Manchester United the standards are high. I dont think he's up to it.

Did anyone else think he looked really good when he played on the right? Less opportunity for him to cut in and feck it up.

Although it was only a minor role in the goal, his cross/pass for Rooney was what started the attack which led to Berbatov's goal.

Perhaps he should start out right for us in next game, and give Giggs the left flank.

Unfortunately the fans are on his back a bit again at OT as well. Not a good sign. I thought he turned it around a bit 2nd half and his delivery was far better. Showed some charachter.

Aye, it's a Catch 22.

Not all the grief he gets from the stands is fair but he doesn't help himself with his performances and his antics.

I hope he has the quality and strength of character to win the fans over but I'm not sure he does.

Do you think players develop at the same rate?

Ronaldo was inconsistant for three seasons - and it was the world cup incident that opened his eyes...

Sometimes people need a little paitence, the coaches thought neville wouldn't make it...so even qualified people can get it wrong

 Anyone arguing with Domzi should just give up. He's so ridiculously hating towards Nani that it doesn't matter what he does, what you prove him wrong on (*cough*) or what you say.

Nani was very good today overall, he had his usual annoyances but he was probably our 3rd best player (after Berb and Evra)

whats gettin tiresome is the notion that after 2 1/2 years at the club that nani cannot be judged as a player (unless of course its to say he is great). He has been involved with the first team in all his time at the club. Without comparing him to anyone else and just judging him on his contribution so far it is a perfectly reasonable viewpoint to say that you do not think he is good enough. Is he being judged on a handful of games? No. Is it knee jerk? No. he simply has not lived up to expectations at United like lots of players before him.

he may get time to prove his worth. he may not. but right now he has simpy not delivered

He did go down quite embarrassingly two or three times tonight. But to be fair he did get straight back up, not staying down pretending to be seriously injured like he has in the past.

I got the feeling he was actually trying to be better in that way, but it's so ingrained in him that he goes down and rolls before he realises what he's doing. Hopefully he can continue down that route and rub it out of his game entirely.

I hope he has the quality and strength of character to win the fans over but I'm not sure he does.
I find myself hoping some big issue happens that causes all of England to turn against him, with our fans responding by getting behind him and cheering him like they never have before. It really was the making for Ronaldo and to a lesser extent Becks, and I think Nani would respond in a similar way.

Unfortunately things that kick of a chain of events like that don't happen on a regular basis.

No.

Has Nani been good enough since he came to United? No in my opinion.

I have nothing against the lad. I am making a judgment on a player. I wont allow the fact he is a United player alter my opinion. As a player I think Nani is distinctly average. Has he done something to disprove that notion. Cos I have missed it then these past few years

So you disagree with Sir Alex then?

A distinctly average player wouldn't step up knowing if you miss, we lose the champions league final to chelsea

I think this is the key to it. When he played on the right he looked a lot more direct. When he plays on the left he has more options... come inside, shoot, cross, slip a pass through... He's capable of all of them but is he any good at picking the right one at the right time? Perhaps not so much.

Its the same as when we played Hargreaves away from the middle of the pitch. With less options in where to pass the ball he looked far more accomplished and didnt mess around with it wondering what to do.

I think Nani on the right is a good option right now, considering how Giggs has the left wing sewn up. Nani, Valencia and when fit, Hargreaves can have a good battle for the right sided spot. The one problem is he doesnt really get himself into the positions to get good shots away like on the left, but maybe that was half the problem...
