Where's Wesley?

He's been an unused sub in our last three matches.

Just an update for you good people.

I'd like him to get back into form and be our first choice right back. Well, him or Rafael.

O'Shea's a good player and a likeable lad, but something aint right if he's our first choice right back, as harsh as that may sound.

The sooner he reclaims his place from that clown O'Shea the sooner I can relax once I see the second name on the team sheet.

:nono::lol:

Very harsh and uncalled for but funny nonetheless.

Hence the smilies.

Expect he'll play Wednesday night/afternoon/evening whatever it is

It can be troublesome coming back from injury in a position where there are four candidates and no one standing out by a mile just now. Meaning as long as long as St. John does a decent job there, it is important for squad morale to see that playing well can give anyone a prolonged spot in the starting line up when other choices are not obvious. And Gary Neville is also very important to give a match now and then to keep running, both as a cover and as a source of motivation and inspiration in the squad.

Rafael would certainly get his chances, with his potenital, whereas Brown is a bit neither this nor that. Match fit he'd probably be the best contender for a year or two, but not by much. He also did not impress when given the chance in the middle of defence, actually he was quite dreadful. The most important reason to play him regularly right now, is probably that I like him the most.

SAF has not given Brown a sniff and I am truly upset that he has not.. I think there is something more to it.. I hope I am wrong though..

O'Shea IMO should not be 1st choice.. we all know exactly what we are going to get from him and he performs consistently but is that enough? We are Manchester United we have to have players that give more than just an average performance every week..

We saw Neville put in a terrific performance against Bolton.. IMO Brown can perform at a marginally higher level than O'Shea on a weekly basis.. Rafael too IMO is overall better than O'Shea..

Yes there are games in which we require a big tall player who defends well to play as RB.. but not in every game! I would like to see SAF give Neville, Brown and Rafael (now that he is fit) more opportunities..

Quite. So much for the "O'shea has the place to lose" argument. It seems Brown is now 4th choice, presuming Rafael will be given a go once he's fully fit.

Where now for man made of tangerines?:(

Based on the number of trophies we have collected with O'Shea being a key player for us,
the answer is................................yes.

I think its a bit shocking how low you have been rating John O'Shea's performances over the last season or so.

This!

Btw. I can't belive how true United-supporters can criticize such a loyal and commited player as John o'Shea.

How low have I been rating him? You can make a poll on it and I am sure most people will agree with me when I say he has been average over the last 2 seasons.. Anyway I was not even talking of the last 2 seasons I was talking about the current campaign in which IMO he has done nothing to merit the 1st choice RB role.. Neville in the last 2 games has been marginally better and Brown too would be better.. IF SAF gave him a go..

Rafael overall better than O'Shea. Oh my.

Prove me wrong instead of leaving such a lengthy & descriptive post!

Because having a good attitude is obviously so much better than having some sort of ability...

Could not have said that better myself thanks Nilsson..

Also 7even could you please tell me where exactly I have criticized him? I am finding it quite difficult to locate that..

SAF has been giving Wes props.

Brown at top of Fergie's list

England international Wes Brown is the best defender in the country and still improving, Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson said on Saturday.

The 30-year-old's flourishing partnership with Nemanja Vidic at the heart of United's defence has been a silver lining among a list of injuries to Rio Ferdinand, John O'Shea and Jonny Evans this season.

"Vidic and Brown have been fantastic in recent games. It just reminds me that when Wes Brown is fit he's the best natural defender in the country," Ferguson told reporters ahead of Sunday's Premier League trip to struggling Portsmouth.

"I think most people recognise how good Wes is as a natural defender. You have got to pay tribute to the lad," he added.

Signed as a trainee in July 1996, Brown's United career has suffered countless injury interruptions since making his debut against Leeds United in 1998.

"He's kept coming back from the injuries he's had in his career. He's had two cruciates and a broken ankle and other injuries," the Scot said.

"Last season he had a very stagnant season in terms of interruptions to his consistency, but the previous season he was our most consistent defender.

"Now he's fit again and looking fantastic, he gets better all the time."

Completely agree. I've been really impressed with him this last couple of weeks. His spell as a full-back seems to have improved his distribution and confidence on the ball.

Great to see Wesley back doing what Wesley does best.

Does he have as high of a ceiling as Vidic or Rio, hell even Evans I dont think so. He has been at United for a long time and done well, he was awesome in 2008 when we needed a RB. I do respect him for coming through the ranks and staying with the club even when it seemed he wouldnt in March of 2008 or so.

Rubbish, there's not been nearly enough Brwning, it's all technique and positioning now. Less football, more Brwning you big orange weirdo.

He's just lulling the opposition into a false sense of security, so he can unleash maximum Brwnage when they least expect it.

Bah! I demands justice, as is my right. I give him today - if there is no Brwning today, then I am prepared to find him guilty and pass sentence for his crime.

fergie has called him the best natural defender a gazillion times..
i dont know what that means .. he never says defender..
wesley brown == TBNDITW :cool:
