Aaron Ramsey

Wenger's protecting Wilshere, he's said as much too. I expect he'll be eased into the side over the course of the next two seasons (just to get some experience, like what he's been doing with Ramsay this season), and after three more years of development I'd think he'll be ready to feature more predominantly.

Ljajic's playing in Serbia? Getting senior time in a side that is, let's face it, nowhere near United (or Arsenal) quality, playing in a league that just doesn't compare. Though the experience will be valuable (especially European), but moving from there to United will obviously be a world a difference.

No doubt, of course there will be a huge difference. I'm basing what I say soley on international performances and European, as Serbian league is awful.

Ljajic is good in the air?

Yes he is, likes to get in the box and get on the end of crosses.

Cesc, you make a perfectly valid point..but technique can be spotted regardless of the quality of your league to a certain respect (hence why Wilshere is rated so highly despite hardly being pitted up against top quality defenders), but of course it has to be allied with intelligence, strength, ability to utilise it against better players... in that respect Ramsey could arguably be seen as the better player, but I hope and feel that Ljajic will adapt quick to the english game.

He's probably basing that on his goal last week against Bruges

Which is exactly why he shouldn't be talking about Ljajic so authoritatively.

If he's as technically sound as he sounds like he's got more than a good chance of adapting skill-wise, physically will be an entirely different matter - and then coupling both will take time. Though stepping up to the plate for his national side's a very good sign, considering he's so young, and Serbia can put out a very good side.

Why are you assuming that I've based it on that goal? i haven't even seen the goal you've mentioned?

Agreed, someone like Nani proves that mere technique is not enough.

I'm assuming you're basing it on watching a few highlights from him, which isn't enough.

The only one who should be talking about Ljajic in that detail is vuc.

Well you obviously don't trust my footballing judgement on him, from the games I've watched of him live, which is fair enough. I've merely pointed out, technically very sound player.. if you don't believe it, your choice...if I've said something that Vuc points out is totally wrong, he'll say so. Vuc is also very passionate about these eastern european players so could be seen as biased at times, I actually objectively like Ljajic from what I've seen, which of course won't be as much as Vuc.

Couldnt resist with that one eh

It is however no different to what people are saying about Wilshere/Ramsey.

Back to the point in hand: The one thing you can say about him is that he gets into the positions for headers/chances so well. This is because of his football brain.

I like your thinking, but with Ramsey, its not really true. His touch, passing and technique are good, but not special.

If you have watched the Wales vs Scotland first half like I just have then no one is going to convince me that Ramsey isn't special. He's running the show at just 18 years of age. The composure, intelligence, vision and technique is all there in him setting up 2 goals and scoring 1 himself. What a player he's going to be.

I have to agree. I've disliked him ever since he apparently turned us down for Arsenal, but he tore Scotland a new arsehole in the first half. Maybe choosing Arsenal hasn't turned out to be such a bad decision afterall.

Where does Ljajic stand in comparison to him?

Everytime I have seen Ramsey he has looked very special to me.

Arsenal got him because unfortunately Fergie was on a much needed summer holiday for the week that he signed for Arsenal so Fergie sent Gill to sign him up where as Arsene met him in person! I am sure that Fergie would have convinced him to sign for us had the timing been better and been able to meet him in person! Big loss but for now our midfield seems not bad at all!

Fergie sent Gary Neville and from what I remember Wenger flew him out in a private jet to our training camp to speak to him in person.

When he first played for his touch and composure was really poor, he really looked out of place in our side but I think he has put a lot of work into that off the field. Even Wenger came out and said that which is unusual for him. However this season he has looked a much improved player, his work ethic and work rate has always looked good but just needed to improve with his awareness and passing. Still think he has plenty of improving to do but the good thing is within a short period of time he has improved quite a lot. Had a good game against Liverpool as well in the Carling Cup.

Doubt he really needed to put a lot of work in off the field, he just needed to get used to the team.

He always had excellent technique for Cardiff I thought.

No. Ramsey is a world class talent in his own right and importantly he's a Brit.

I don't think we have missed out on Ramsey with Llajic coming,
I have big hopes for Llajic, much bigger talent in my opinion.
Wouldn't be surprised he makes an impact the way Fabregas did for Arsenal.

Whether he won the league or European cup with Arsenal or not,
you must admit Fabregas is a class player for them, thats what I was alluding to
in the comparison.

Have you seen him play that much to make such a comment?

Just a question, is Ljajic actually a better talent than Ramsey?

If he is ,then he must be fecking unbelievable.

And what do you base that on?

No he most definitely did, his technique might of looked good in and around the Cardiff player but he looked quite off here. His touch was okish but his passing and awareness was quite average, a few times got himself a bollocking from Wenger off the touchline as well. I got to say when I first saw him for us I didn't quite see what the fuss was about but this season he has quite clearly improved a lot. Many Arsenal fans last season weren't too sure about him but some much improved performances this season have given us a lot more hope about him.

Alright then, makes no sense that some people were calling him the new Scholes if his technique wasn't great, but there you go.

You must have been blind!
When England played Wales under 21 in the play offs for the European Championships in 2008, a seventeen year old Ramsay was head and shoulders above any other player on the pitch in both games!
The likes of Huddlestone, Milner and Cattermole just couldn't handle him and considering the lack of quality in the players in his own side he almost caused an upset on his own.

Jazz is talking about how Ramsey did for Arsenal last season, and he's spot on.
Ramsey looked completely out of depth in pretty much all matches last season, and I couldn't see what all the fuss was about either.

That's also why I find Jazz cautious reaction to Ramsey's last couple of games more believable than the general Caf consensus which generally tends to be very knee-jerk - not least when it comes to Arsenal.

You have to hear truth from drunk people, kids and Jazz.

I should of been more specific, I haven't ever seen him play for Wales or Cardiff just for us so should of said when I first saw him play for us.

[edit]

Top is right, I am being cautious about how I speak of him because last season I was very unimpressed with what I saw. However this season he has improved quite a lot. Sky Sports | Football | News | Wenger reckons Ramsey's ready Wenger says so himself here that last season he looked a youth team player.

He is also right about me speaking the truth :D I think.......... :nervous:

Ramsey's goal (0:40 onwards) against Scotland yesterday.

I blame Gary Neville

And with good reason...
