Manchester United vs. Beşiktaş JK

Why are people so annoyed by this result? We managed to give the younger lads some great experience of what a lot of European games are like and we've already qualified. It's not guaranteed that we'll win every game, where'd be the fun in that?
You're annoyed by people being annoyed at losing? We lost a game where we should have won based on dominance and should have at least drawn on a ref's decision.

That in itself is perfectly good reason to be annoyed. Not going muppet crazy, but jesus...

Listening to some of you'll is embarrasing. SAF did what he always does in a dead rubber, play the youngsters. He did so but it did not result in a win. Atleast all of them came out with some experience of playing a big European night at OT and learnt that teams park their bus after scoring against us.

Noone screwed up. We put out a young team knowing we may lose. Worth a gamble

Except with the group sti to be won it wasn't a dead rubber. The kids will get beat in Germany and we've got ourselves a filthy knockout opponent.

I'm aware that we've qualified given all the news reports that say we have, but I'm still confused. We're only up 3 points over both Wolfsburg and CSKA so if they both win, wouldn't it be a three way tie for first with the winner advancing on goal differential? They don't play each other so it's certainly possible for them to both win.

Not sure quite what's been said already, as this thread is enormous, but just some thoughts.

Tonight reminded me of when we lost at home to Dortmund. We created a lot of chances, defended decently (although we backed off their attackers a bit too much), and the midfield looked commanding for large parts of the game. Due to some poor and some unlucky efforts, as well as an outstanding keeping display from Rustu, and a penalty unfairly denied us, we lost a game we undoubtedly deserved something from. It happens, and I'm not worried about our performance tonight. The younger players looked lively and creative, and we'll play a lot worse than that and draw, or even win. There was no shame in that performance tonight, even though the result is a frustrating one.

Hopefully we can carry on our 14 game unbeaten away run in Europe and grab something at Wolfsburg to top the group.

Why couldn't we have played a mixture of youth and experience tonight, got the job done, and then played the kids away? Why do we always piss about?

Foster - 26 years old - 40 top-flight appearances (4 international caps)
Brown - 30yo - 209 (21)
Vidic - 28yo - 149 - (44)
Neville - 34yo - 383 (85)
Park - 28yo - 152 (84)
Anderson - 21yo - 71 (8)

Oh if only we'd had some experience!

Not annoyed, more slightly irked. Yeah we could have won, we didn't shit happens, and i'm more pleased that the kids got a game at a high level than i am ann... i mean irked, we lost.

because it s a match we are expected to win and losing to a side bottom of the group is embarrassing for us....

We beat CSKA over 2 legs (effectively) so they can't finish ahead of us.

It's based on head to head, us and Wolfsburg are already through as we have better records against CSKA. It's between us and them only for the top spot.

Not really when people see the team that was put out, i think only beating the worst team in the competition by an aggregate of 2 goals and losing out in the group stage is embarrasing. :)

Foster had no chance with the goal...

Obertan was our best player. I think we have an absolute gem.

Welbeck, for all the hype, I dont think is actually special, and I dont think he is talented enough to ever start for us.

Macheda, I think is a better player than Welbeck, but his moaning is very bad to watch.

I got criticised because I said Anderson will always be a squad player, and two years ago, I also said he does not have the technique to be a Scholes replacement and also got criticised then. Am I really a spastic?

We started well and if we didnt concede i am sure we had won comfortably. It was interesting and also bad to see that after the goal our youngstars couldnt really cope with it. Nevertheless i think we played well but the final pass didnt come. In the end you see the difference when more experience is on the field. Especially Evra brought something to the game that was missed.

With the late chances and the clear penalty a draw would have been fair in the end so all in all i dont think it was that bad. I think SAF will give them another chance in Wolfsburg mixed with a bit more experience.

Wolfsburg will be harder test than Beskitas, I don't think we can't afford to gamble with the line-up, we need to be certain of topping the group.
