Barclays Premier League
Kick Off: 17:30
Sat 09th January

First matchay thread, get in. Thought someone should make this seeing as the city match is postponed.

The way we're playing and the way Brum are playing this is a dangerous game.

Kuszczak
Rafael Vidic Evans Evra
Valencia Carrick Fletcher Giggs
Rooney Berbatov

diouf on the bench anyone?

I think he might well be. He wasn't eligible for Leeds, and City is too big of a game to just drop a new player into - I think Fergie realised that after Evra's nervy debut against them. I think he'll play some part in the game, or at least make the bench. It'd be a good game to bring him on in, especially if we're a goal or two ahead, and it's not a really high-pressure or particularly rough fixture.

Think it's worth exploring the systems that we might opt for in Milan so try Park instead of Giggs on the left of 4-3-3. Want to play with lots of energy, pressing them as we did against Chelsea away.

Birmingham are in very good form. It's not going to be an easy game.

This will obviously get cancelled, heavy snow will hit saturday and sunday again apparantly according to BBC and the MET Office.

Jeez, remember the days when they'd play in a blizzard, on a pitch that was both rockhard then in some place a quagmire of mud and slush.

Team should be...

GK: PIG

RB: Rafael
CB: Brown
CB: Evans
LB: Evra

RM: Valencia
CM: Fletcher
CM: Carrick
LM: Park

CF: Rooney
CF: Berbatov

Subs: Amos, Fabio, Neville, Anderson, Scholes, Giggs, Owen

Good time to play them IMO, their good run has to come to an end at some point

0-1 Rooney with the goal

Not so sure. If it's just snow then its more likely to go ahead than if it were freezing and ice covered. At least the roads can be cleared instead of having to salt and grit everywhere.

Premier League grounds are all the best equipped in the country, though, and unless there's heavy snow on Friday night then the game will go ahead.

I'd go with:

Kuszczak

Rafael
Evans
Brown
Evra

Valenica
Carrick
Fletcher
Giggs

Rooney
Berbatov

SUBS: Foster, Neville, Fabio, Anderson, Scholes, Park, Owen.

But thats the point, the matches midweek were postponed because of the danger the supporters would have trying to get to the ground. I'll be surprised if theres over a dozen fixtures throughout all the leagues at the weekend. Espically when all this snow gets icy.

I don't get this. People go to work this week, don't they? Wouldn't that be dangerous, no?

Do you cnuts use snow tires in England during the winter?

-20 in Oslo today. Brr.

I'd be surprised if this is on. I'm sitting here two miles from st Andrews with four inches of snow outside the door and it's still coming down. More is forecast for the rest of the week too.

One Diouf on the bench is worth four Berbatovs on the Pitch. - A Wiseman.

No we don't use snow tyres and the problem is not that its snowy in England, its the problem that not only will it get VERY icy, but also the grit is running out around the country and therefore getting to work / blues will be very dangerous as the roads won't be gritted properly.

This country is never prepared for winter.

Play Carrick, Fletcher and Giggs in midfield, Birmingham will try to bully us all over the pitch. We need to win the midfield battle to get all the three points, otherwise this could end up being another loss. We had a hard time beating them at Old Trafford and they are having a fantastic run at the moment.

PIG
Rafael - Brown - Evans - Evra
Carrick - Fletcher - Giggs
Valencia - Berbatov - Rooney

Not completely sure, I mean I'd imagine some Championship and Scottish grounds would be better than some Premier League ones. No Premier League ground would be able to cope the way The Millenium or Wembley could.

Rafael, Brown, Evans, Evra

Berbatov, Rooney

Bench: Amos, Fabio, Scholes, Nani, Owen, Neville, Anderson

As far as game getting canceled. Might not be a good thing, fixture congestion when we are in midst of CL could be harmful.
