Manchester City v Manchester United

OFFICIAL CONFIRMED TEAM:

van der Sar

Rafael
Brown
Evans
Evra

Fletcher
Carrick
Anderson

Valencia
Rooney
Giggs

SUBS: Kuszczak, Neville, Fabio, Scholes, Park, Owen, Diouf.

Ferguson was going to go with this team regardless of Berba and Owen in my honest opinion.

Agreed. Fergie always plays the 4-5-1 in the big matches these days; for better or for worse. Berbatov would have missed out regardless.

Our best midfield and Giggs, Valencia and Rooney upfront. Get in there Fergie, he doesn't want the Massives to end their fecking wait this year!
COME ON UNITED!

Just like Rahul said.

Bench:

PIG, Nev, Owen, Park, Scholes, Fabio and Diouf.

Should get at least 20 mins of him this evening. Cant wait!!!! Would have preferred that he started. Any, with 20 mins, if he can get a goal, he will keep up with his 4 goals a game average.

Very defensive line-up, that. Boyata is a bit shit and Kompany has been in poor form. Rooney should rip them to shreds.

Yes! A strong side!
Fletcher, Carrick, Anderson midfield.

Boyata always scored a shitload of goals for City's academy - having said that, so did most of their team. They had a decent side last year

A dead leg is still an injury. Whatever way you look at it.

And neither Owen or Diouf are really options at this moment in time.

Yeah, as Owen only got a hat trick in his last start. What would we do if Berba required surgery, play 4-5-1 for the rest of the season? :wenger:

Oh and....

Anderson -- Fletcher
-------Carrick------

Our strongest midfield imo.

Valencia against Boyata could turn the outcome of this match

Yeah, as Owen only got a hat trick in his last start.

If we'd played owen, it would have meant a weaker midfield, and not that much added upfront. With Berba out, 4-3-3/4-5-1 was always gonna be the case.

I honestly thought Diouf & Owen would have started up front together and Rooney on the bench. Probably too big an occasion for the lad Diouf to start, being at City's ground and in their biggest game in years. Would love the lad to come on and get the winner :D

Gibson injured I guess. Decent side, I'm expecting a lot from Anderson tonight.

The second coming

While we wait for kick off .... what will be people's responses if we lose?

For me, it will piss me off but I wont be that fussed. Winning the PL is my sole obsession this year. I wont really care that we lost to shittyy either cos lets be honest, its a tin pot cup with no real glory attached to winning it. Net net, if we lose tonight and over both legs, I state here in public that I will not be posting all the bollox bollox normally posted on here when we lose.

I will be hugely dissapointed. I want to stop them from reaching the final, even though it's just the League Cup. Had it been against Villa or Blackburn I wouldn't care about the result as long as the kids did well, but this is something diffirent.

Completely agree. Very glad Fergie sees it that way as well.

Am sure that is SAFs thinking and I never ever disagree with SAF. Shame though as Im just so excited about this one. Dunno why, I just think he will hit the scene and become a goal monster like George Weah. Just a feeling I cant get rid of. Do you get what I mean?

We're fecked then if Berba ever gets a serious injury. We don't have the midfield creativity or strike rate to play 4-5-1.

Yeah I think he could do very well for us but he needs to be eased in gently. If the result is okay (either we're winning or drawing), throw caution to the wind and bring the lad on for the last part of the match, see what he can do in this type of atmosphere.

Well lets not forget even if we lose tonight - which we won't - we still have the return leg at home.

Do away goals count in the CC or is it straight aggregate score lines at the end of the day?
