Manchester City v Manchester United

I dont mind 4-3-3, especially as Anderson plays better, but Fergie must play Rooney on the left. He is not a target man, and is much more effective dropping off.

There is coverage pre game on BBC, press the red button...

In theory, I reckon something like this would work really well...

-------------Carrick--------
-----Fletcher-------Anderson

Valencia--------------------Rooney

Put Berbatov up front and thats a very strong side and something id like to see....unfortunatly we will never see that as Fergie has said Rooney will never play wide left again as much as a point of principle if anything else...its a shame because it could work really well especially in the bigger games.

Berbatov wouldn't work as the frontman in that formation.

Ronaldo was basically perfect, when we played it. Fast and clinical, thats exactly what we need.

If I was Gibson and Welbeck I'd be pretty pissed off not to be involved at all given that they fired us to the semi-final. Not great management from SAF.

I more expected Gibson to be involved rather than Welbeck. Sorry, but these young lads will have to realise times like this. If this semi final was against anybody else rather than City, you'd have seen both Gibson & Welbeck probably start. But against City, in a semi final at their ground, their biggest game in years, I'm glad he's went with the big guns.

Fair enough, but they got a chance against Leeds and totally botched it.

Rooney is a striker

Think a semi final at Eastlands would have been more telling of any of the young ones character than any other game. Offcourse at home against Leeds they didn't cut it but, even the manager said, he expected the more experience guys to lift them and that didn't happen.

Anyway the team is what it is - lets start talking about beating the shit out of Shitty on their own crappy patch.

Edit: Not surprising Nani isn't starting. Just off of a long lay off and played full 90 - he'll start against Hull.

Fergie specifically mentioned Gibson as playing at his presser, so he must be injured. I'm not surprised Wlbeck is out as I'm sure that Fergie is eager to see what Diouf can do.

Hey guys I am at work. Any one know where I can get a radio link for this game? (other than MUTV as my sub is cancelled)

Yes, we are. Or even worse, Rooney.

I actually rate the midfield 3 of Ando, Fletch and Carrick as our best midfield combo. Its the attack that lacks in the 4-5-1.

Agree with both points.

We can just about cope with Rooney up front on his own as long as Giggs and Valencia are both on form. Without Rooney we lack any outlet going forward.

The 3 man midfield works extremely well and it's just a shame we don't have a pacy centre forward who can handle playing up on his own to play as the main striker.

I like it too. In theory. But in reality Rooney ends up playing more like a left back.
