Manchester United v Portsmouth

No but the 'he is shit' and 'we're shit with him in the team' nonsense might get dropped.

Berbatov should have scored, but misses like that happen. Wayne also missed a sitter against City in the cup. It's how you atone for it. His general performance has been fine otherwise. I suspect he'll get on the scoresheet in the second half.

:wenger: Why're people complaining about Valencia? He's had very little playing time over the past few weeks. Of course he's not going to be spot on with everything.

Great half of football. Really wonderful to see that the team is confident in its ability to be patient and continue to probe. Easily deserve the lead, possibly deserve even more, any one got the possession and shots stats, they will be so one sided!

Left it all till the last 5 minutes but at least we got off the mark. Up until then we were fine till we got to the box and then a lack of quality meant we were finding it hard to break through. Luckily Fletch popped up on the right to put a great cross in and Rooney finished well. Nani bamboozled the right back and created another O.G

I'd like to see Nani on the right in the second half and if Valencia cant play on the left, he can make way for someone else. With Nani's delivery from the right even Berbatov cant continue to miss the target and we could improve our goal difference considerably today.

Lets be fair, a few momments of magic from Berbatov that half, but he's been one of the worst players on the pitch for us. Simply not at the ballgame. Evra was oddly crap that half too.

Hopefully they can turn it around in the 2nd half. Berbatov needs a goal.

Poor Nani though, will he ever get a fecking goal?

I fancy him for a goal today, he looks like he's got the beating of his FB, and obviously playing on the left, that brings him onto his right foot

I'd like to see us give Fabio a look on the left for a decent period in the 2nd half, perhaps Nani back to the right

Fletcher and Carrick have been excellent... Valencia and Berbatov have been a bit sloppy but you can't complain at 2-0 up.

Hopefully The One will get a run out.

Want us to go up a gear in 2nd half and batter the living daylights out of this lot. My pre match prediction was 6-0 and I see no reason why we should not win by at least that.

Would sum Berbatov up if he adds a 3rd or a 4th for us while missing the chance when it was 0-0 and we really needed the goal.

Good half, not brilliant but we're two to the good so thats all you can really ask for. Berbatov has really been off today, usually his linkup play is good but today he just hasnt got in the game. Valencia has also been out of it and Nani looks half the player on the left, i would love to see SAF try Valencia on the left to see how he does but i doubt he will

:wenger: Why're people complaining about Valencia? He's had very little playing time over the past few weeks. Of course he's not going to be spot on with everything.

He's done fine. He's been the antithesis of Nani - staying wide, keeping his discipline. As per, when the ball has come to him, he's caused trouble for his full back. He slipped Neville in expertly for the Berbatov chance.

I too think that Berbatov needs to up his game.

He's capable of so much more.

He's played a couple of nice final balls and as usual his touches have been silky. He's still playing within himself, I agree. Still 45 mins to play.

Well we've barely moved out of 2nd gear and we've got 2 goals (should have been more). Guess the match is over already and we'll be looking at Villa midweek.

yep we're in second gear but one more goal and we can look forward to villa. I meant to add the miss from Berba is a player who's letting the price tag effect him too much. Hopefully he'll learn to relax because he's too good a player to miss chances like that

Is it just me or does the pitch look really shite and wobbly ?

TBH, I'd rather Berbatov stay on and get some under his belt. His confidence could do with a few good goals.

Wouldn't mind Rooney coming off for Diouf quite early. Rooney could do with all the rest he can get, and he won't get much, and when they're parking the bus Diouf's aerial abilities would be a great asset.

Yeah, it was a bad miss, but if he scored a brace in the second half then kudos to him. Goal difference is important.

We need to be a tad less dramatic. That miss was never going to cost us this game.

i hope berba gets a full game

fergie played him too deep in his first season and he has been in and out for various reasons for a while

there is no way i am giving up on him ..

and his price tag is immaterial .. nothing to do with him . no point talking about that

he is here and he is expected to perform at the same level as anyone else in the team .. give him more game time . and stop getting on his back

surely fergie has seen more of him in training and reads the game better than anyone here

in short .. leave berba alone

agreed

He looks a little shorn of confidence again.

He'd gotten on a little run but that has again been disrupted by another untimely knock.

I hope he can get his act together.

hate to do this, but if anyone has a half decent stream in english, i'd greatly appreciate a PM. will be sure to get you back in the future...

Berba has been awful quite frankly, the injury is playing a big part.. even his general play which has always been good is suffering.

Really want him to turn it on in the second.

Looks like those wankers Stoke will stay up.
Leading B'Burn 2-0. With a game in hand..

Nani is just a completely different player.

That bit of control over in the corner mid way through the half was world class.

Really getting into the mix - very happy for him.

He's been below par, but not awful man.

It's like the only alternative to black is white sometimes on here.

Reserve judgement until the end of the match.

Berba does look short of confidence and like his price tag is weighing him down. Always playing on his mind. Unfortunately no-one will even let him forget that.

But I still think he is a quality addition and we are yet to see the best of him. Though truth be told, his finishing has been poor compared to what it was at Spurs in his time here yet.

Nonsense. Four of his seven goals in the league this season has been our first of the match, but don't let facts get in your way, eh? His other three; 2-0, 3-1, and 4-0. Two to seal the deal, only one unimportant.

Owen would get slaughtered just as much if he missed that chance.

Neither player can really be affording to miss such chances if they want a first team spot next season.
