Sorry about that

Was hoping Silva wouldn't make it. Him and Nesta are a very solid pairing. Other than that, nothing much to fear IMO. Pato is class but not match-fit so Evra must do a job on him, just show Dinho the outside, don't let him cut in at any cost. If we do this we should be ok defensively which will give us the platform to win the game, which I think we will.

Glad to see Nani has kept his place after his red card last week, he was finally showing some consistent form - here's hoping he can show some of that form tonight!

Think everyone predicted the line-up, worked against Arsenal (minus Rio) so fingers crossed it does tonight.

Really pleased Fergie's gone with Nani despite the stupidity of his sending-off. Surprised at Rafael over Brown, but what a vote of confidence for the lad.

Also, i have a feeling Scholes will get a red, but i'm sure most people have this feeling every game we play.

WOW Fergie showing huge confidence in Rafael as he will be facing Ronaldinho. I personally would have started Brown because he has dealt with him before but this will be a huge platform for Rafael at such a young age.

Very surprised to see Nani get the nod ahead of Valencia. It odd to do Nani a world of good if his confidence was a bit low.

I remember SAF playing Rafael against City which had Robinho against him and Rafael had the game of his life if i remember correctly!

Aye but either way it shows how far weve come as a squad that we look back at that now and well me personally wince when i read some of those names on the bench, we had a great first eleven in 06/07 but a pretty small squad all in all.

Yeah you do have a point, the team itself will be similar, perhaps worst so to speak, but the bench might improve due mainly to the fact that United's current defensive injury problems are not as bad as it was back then,

factoring in Evra's suspension the bench for Milan last time could've been:

Kuszczak, Heinze/O'Shea, Ferdinand (doubtful), Richardson, Saha, Solskjaer, Smith

compare it to:

Kuszczak, Brown, Neville, Valencia, Gibson, Berbatov, Owen

You're talking maybe Valencia and Berbatov making significant improvements and Gibson offering a natural centre midfielder.

In terms of the first 11 you're talking Rafael for O'Shea, Evans for Brown, Ferdinand for Vidic, Park for Giggs and Nani for Ronaldo as well as Evra for Heinze, which was force last time. Overall I feel the team is weaker.

I think perhaps in terms of the SQUAD, Major change might be that United do have better "backup players" (ignore loans)

Foster, Fabio, De Laet, Gibson, Diouf, Possebon, Obertan ... compared to Eagles, Dong, Keiron Lee, David Jones etc.

like i've said elsewhere, Rafael is our first choice fullback.

SAF's already shown that with his selection since the lad came back from injury.

Must say Milans front line looks very impressive on paper but on the pitch i see no reason why we shouldnt handle them, i expect Ferdinand and Evans between them to handle Huntelaar, Pato has been out for 2 months and only played his first game on friday so good player that he is id back Evra to deal with his threat from the right, and Ronaldinhio, not close to the player he was a few years ago yet still a threat, in my opinion Milans main threat tonight....Think our midfield will have the legs on Milans, looks very one paced for them in there.

Overall im confident...2-1 win.

quite an attacking lineup :nervous:

quite a suspect defensive line. We should exploit the flanks. Neither Bonera nor Antonini are comfortable at the back.

Our line up is as expected minus Brown.

from the two line ups this could be a pretty entertaining match.

I still see this match ending 2-2.

With Nani's form, it is a shame Valencia is not left sided, else they both would of started.

Well it's a risk, Milan's taking a risk with Beckham instead of Gattuso, United's doing likewise with Rafael instead of Brown. Hopefully Rafael won't conceed a freekick which Beckham scores. :nervous:
