Manchester United vs. AC Milan

Scholes played the whole Wolves game, is it asking too much to play 2 games in space of 5 days for him ?

He did the other week in January when we played Shitty on Wednesday in the Carling Cup semis and Arsenal on Sunday.

He's going to have to as Carrick is suspended and Anderson is injured, there's no way we'll go in with Fletcher and Gibson as a central two

Nope he'll be fine, hes played 2 games in the space of 4 days more than once this season, as already mentioned he played the full 90 minutes in the second leg against City in the carling cup then started 4 days later against Arsenal at the Emirates, he was quality in both of those.

If Sir Alex had any worries about Scholes ability to play in conescutive matches he wouldnt have played him on saturday knowing Carrick/Anderson and Giggs were all going to miss the Milan game, simple as, Fletcher would have started in his place.

van der Sar

Neville - Ferdinand - Vidic - Evra

Scholes
Fletcher - Park
Valencia ---------------Nani

Berbatov

------------------------------------------------------
Kuszczak; Rafael; Evans; Brown; Gibson; Obertan; Diouf

Will definitely be a tough game, but a 3-2 away win is a huge advantage. I see this ending 0 - 0.

Swoop Scholes with Fletcher so that his energy and determination will help out the defense. Park can cover the middle of the park, (pardon the punt) as he does so with his National team.

Scholes to move forward to connect with Berbatov.

As long as the defense holds out, United should go through.

WAYNE ROONEY will be fit for Manchester United's Euro showdown with AC Milan.
The England striker is suffering from an inflamed kneecap tendon and was rested for Saturday's 1-0 win at Wolves.

But last night it it emerged the condition is not serious enough to keep him out of Wednesday's Champions League return against the Italians at Old Trafford.

Rooney, 24, has paid for playing two games in four days on Wembley's dodgy pitch.

But the inflammation will go within three weeks and should not stop him playing again.

However there are concerns United and England defender Wes Brown may have suffered a broken metatarsal in his left foot - which would put a question mark over his World Cup hopes.

From the Sun?

They also used the headline "Wenger ready to risk Cesc". What he actually meant was he wouldnt risk him if he is more than 50% away from hamstring injury.

I'll only believe it if I hear it from the horse's mouth. It will be great if true though. But without him, we can still get a decent result I would imagine. Playing at OT and had a rehearsel without him against Wolves away, albeit they're a sorta lesser class opposition. This might be Berba's sorta game.

I don't know about The Sun, but I have a feeling Wayne will be miraculously healed by Wedn. I think SAF wants to teach him a lesson, plus a little mind games before the CL game don't hurt

Seen him ref plenty games. He did the CL final last year :nervous:

PATO INCLUDED IN MILAN SQUAD

AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato has been included in Leonardo's 22-man squad for Wednesday's Champions League last-16 return leg against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Brazil international missed Saturday's goalless draw at Roma having sustained a hamstring strain the previous weekend.

Pato will travel to England but whether the South American striker will be fit to play remains to be seen.

Milan must overturn a 3-2 deficit if they are to progress to the quarter-finals of Europe's elite club competition.

Pato has been in superb form for Milan this season, scoring 12 goals in Serie A and two in the Champions League.

You mean they lied, well, i don't who to believe in anymore.

i know milan need atleast 2 goals to even stand a chance of progressing but i'm still really nervous

i hope we dont sit back and shut shop . and i really hope milan dont score first

oh and rooney back will be great ..

Roma - Milan

This game was a drab 0-0, but it was interesting to see Milan’s setup, which I think will be how they play at OT.

Milan will play with Boriello upfront (he is a proper CF), Ronaldinho on the left and Huntelaar on the right. In the middle they will opt for physical presence and will play Gattuso next to Pirlo and Ambrosini. Their job will be to boss the midfield and tighten things up.

The fullbacks will then be expected to come up front at every opportunity and help the attack. Here the choices are interesting among Antonini, Abate, Zambrotta and Jankulovski. Nesta and Silva will fill the two remaining spots.

If Pato is fit he will feature at some point – probably in for Huntelaar.

I think Seedorf will come in on the second half for Gattuso or Ambrosini.

I’m not sure if Leonardo will go for Dida or Abbiati.

Probably Ronaldinho behind Huntelaar and Borriello in 4-3-1-2, Milan did that until Becks came on and they went back to 4-4-2, Ronaldinho on the left.

Agreed, if we do another Wolves then going 1-0 down will make the game really interesting.

The only way we can kill the game off properly is to score first and for that reason alone I'm hoping Rooney can play somewhat.

Is Huntelaar usually deployed on the right? Given his finishing-ability I thought he only played throught the middle?

Agree with you that I don't think Beckham will start though.

VDS
Rafael, Rio, Vidic, Evra
Fletcher, Valencia, Scholes
Park, Berbatov, Nani

Put Park and Fletcher covering more on the right side where Dinho will be playing.

Valencia can play through the middle, strong and will work his socks off.

Park and Nani can even swap wings.

We wont.

Rafael Ferdinand Vidic Evra

Itll be that or......

Itll be that.

Gets my vote, although if Rooney is fit i would like to see Berba play where Park is and put Park on the left wing - to give us more of a 442 formation and not a 451

VDS

RB- Rafael
CB- Rio
CB- Vidic
LB- Evra

RM- Valencia
CM- Scholes
CM- Fletcher
LM- Park

FC- Rooney
FC- Berba

That's what I'd like to see, more than likely it'll be 451 with Park behind the striker though, and Nani on the left for Berba if Rooney is fit.

Wouldn't mind Nani starting ahead of Valencia either, that way a fresh Valencia could have another great impact against the tiring Milan left back.

I hope we play with a good tempo to this one, could rip Milan to shreds then. 4-1.

They really play their players so out of position, dont they? Plus I think Pato is going to be fit - must be one of their worthless mind games. I just read he has been included in their squad to face us. He might play on the right and Klaas and Becks are going to be on the bench.

What makes ya think Gattuso will start in front of Flamini?

And I reckon Abbiati will get the nod, Leonardo seems fed up of Dida. Outta contract in the summer, if he gets the choice I reckon he'll let him go, Brazilian or not

He's usually second choice striker

Nah they don't, Huntelaar was stuck on the right because all their options were limited. Pato and Mancini were injured, while Adiyiah isn't near experienced enough to be considered.

Looks a little thin if Brown's injury is quite serious, and with Giggs and Macheda still injured, Anderson, Owen, and O'Shea out for the rest of the season, Carrick suspended, and Hargreaves still not back. Although, I'm not sure if De Laet and Fábio are fit, they've got a shot at making the bench if they are.

I must admit it looks slightly weak and it'll be a tough game, but I reckon we'll get a score draw with Milan and go through.

Berbatov to score.

Oh no, not you again! Sir Alex Ferguson reunited with controversial referee Massimo Busacca for AC Milan return

article-1256487-04DAD7A40000044D-172_306x384.jpg

Tomorrow's referee Massimo Busacca, 41, is well known to Manchester United, having taken charge of last season's Champions League final in Rome when they were outclassed by Barcelona.

A year before, United manager Sir Alex Ferguson laid into the Swiss official for failing to award a penalty in the semI-final against Barcelona that 'the world and his wife' would have given.

Busacca has suffered an eventful few months since last coming face to face with United.

He was suspended for three matches in September after showing the middle finger to Young Boys Bern fans and later faced bizarre claims that he urinated on the pitch in the middle of a match in Qatar.

I think he's always been a good referee. Press trying to create something out of nothing.

Rooney trains to boost United

Wayne Rooney has provided Manchester United with a Champions League boost by taking part in training ahead of Wednesday's date with AC Milan.

Manager Sir Alex Ferguson said after Saturday's victory over Wolves, which the striker missed, that Rooney was "a big doubt" for the game after aggravating a knee injury on England duty last week.

However, Rooney's presence at Carrington this morning suggests United's top scorer will be involved at Old Trafford as Ferguson's side attempt to reach the last eight of this season's competition at the expense of David Beckham and his team-mates

Possibly, but it would surely mean Rooney on the wing. Not much chance of us playing 442 when we're protecting a lead.

I think 9 of the starting 11 are pretty clear, then it's 2 out of Gibson, Nani, Berbatov and Rooney.

Busacca is definately one of the better refs. Not his fault why we were outclassed in the final...

Wouldnt be surprised if Rooney would be punished for another game by Fergie
