Manchester United vs. AC Milan

Strong reports in the Italian media that Both Nesta and Pato are out of tonights game and will watch from the stands...Antonini is also a major doubt to, Bonera set to move to left back abate at right.

Bloody Hell, Leonardo's gonna end up being sectioned if he plays too many more mind games!

Cmon now, take those red tinted specs off. He had a terrible start to the season

Last game he had a kuyt like clearance which beggared belief. Passed it straight to a hull player when he should have booted it. If Vokes had any bottle we would have been staring at a 1-1 with Wolves.

So yeah. Carrick's been good overall, but anything more is being generous. That being said, I would have liked to have him for this game. Carrick >>> Gibson. Even if they do look alike.

I have a bad feeling we are going to start poorly, Milan are going to score and us fans are going to brick it till the 2nd half when the team pulls its finger out and starts to play. Hope I'm wrong but i just get this feeling that the tie has a sting in its tail.

Carrick will be a big loss. He has been excellent as the season has progressed. Started off slow with a constant chopping and changing midfield, played defense and then once all that was behind him and the midfield was settled, he's been very solid.

Had a mediocre game against Wolves and the gift he almost gave them was shocking, earlier in the game had made a superb block for the ball to drop harmlessly to VDS.

Even if Gibson starts for him, I have faith in him because the manager will have it. Every confidence that we'll be into the next round .... probably face Bayern.

I sincerely hope that SAF doesn't go with a 4-5-1 tonight. With Wayne coming off of his knee problem, being a lone striker would put too much pressure on him. Besides, this match is made for Berbatov, Scholes and Park. Berba because he allows United to keep possession and pass it around creating movement in the attack. Scholes because he can move the ball around and Park always gives Milan fits going back to his PSV days. They don't like playing against his type of high energy.

I would like to see the following team:

VDS, Raf, Rio, Vidic, Evra, Valencia, Scholes, Fletcher, Park, Rooney, Berbatov.

I feel with those players, we would have the ability to switch between a fairly standard 442 with Park on the left, to a more defensive 451 with Rooney on the left and Park pushed into the centre (where he played vs Milan last time). Also means we don't have to start Gibson.

There are a good few ways Fergie can go, and I just hope Gibson starting isn't the way he does go!

Also, found this over at Gazetta and they are always right before games:

Don't know why the hell they've got Nesta as starting though?

EDIT: Pato and Nesta OUT, Antonini is doubtful as well!

From facebook: MUST - The Independent Manchester United Supporters Trust

We can confirm that the 10 min boycott is NOT a planned for tonights match and the press are running a story they have no source for. Get into OT and Get behind the team in G&G !!

Abbiati

Abate Bonera Thiago Silva Zambrotta

Flamini Pirlo Ambrosini

Hunterlaar Borriello Ronaldinho

And I think Seedorf will start.

They should play Seedorf if they want to get anything from this game. He was literally brilliant every time we played them and created something in mere 10 minutes at San Siro in the first leg. Even well past 30 he's easily one of the best midfielders around.

The big question around the universe tonight is will Beckham start

I wonder what Berbatov will be like in midfield. He certainly can distribute the ball and he's starting to show that he does have the ability to run. Also, his time on the ball would allow our players to get into proper positions and we would be able to spread the ball around the pitch. It'd be really interesting to see how this formation would work

Fletcher Berbatov Scholes
Valencia Rooney Nani

Nah. That team would get destroyed against any attacking team. Berbatov may have some attributes required to be a top class central midfielder but a couple that he seems to lack are an engine, determination, drive and a willing to get his shorts dirty.

Remember his pristine white shorts getting quite muddy when he slid in chasing a ball on the left side against Heskey. He's been pretty good recently at closing down, maybe his knee is feeling better.

Still not the player to put as midfielder.

I find it hard to believe Milan will be missing 3 key players. After all SAF once said:

“When an Italian tells me its pasta on the plate I check under the sauce to make sure. They are the inventors of the smokescreen.”

Looking forward to the lineups.
