We could really exploit this if our midfielders could get control in the middle
Park needs to get into the game more, ideally occupying that space between the Bayern defence and midfield where their CBs are getting too much time on the ball. I know SAF won't change anything, but at the moment I'd not mind seeing Valencia replace Carrick, Scholes to stay deep with Fletcher, Park to hassle their defence behind Rooney and Valencia and Nani on the wings.

ESPNs Gamecast shows Bayern having 60% of the possession and I was being told to have my examined to suggest we'd have a hard time keeping possession with 2 mids against Bayern.
From the sound of it, we are really poor in possession - not sure who or what is the culprit but, hope we sort it out in the second half.

Very scrappy and bizarre half of football for a CL game. Should be 2-2!! Lucky to be in front and SAF needs to reorganise.

valencia's pace could be lethal on the counter specially when bayern start throwing everything they've got.

Fletchers cross for Rooney was immense, really.
we need more in the second half. Scholes and Park have done little to nothing, would sacrfice one of them for some more pace on the wing with valencia, shifting nani to the left. We need to show some courage and give rooney something to play with, hitting too many long balls and losing possesion cheaply.
The 3 in midfield hasnt worked. The closing down has been apalling in that area of the pitch, only Fletcher comes way from that half with credit. He's been very good. Park has barely found a way to touch the ball and hasnt been much of a factor defending either. It would be nice to see Park playing behind Rooney again with Valencia on the right and Nani on the left, or keep the 3 we have in midfield and get Nani left, Valencia right.

Park has been dissapointing, he looks like he doesn't know his role out there right now. He's not wide enough to stop the Lahm threat, he's not central enough to bulk the midfield and he isn't advanced enough to be a support to Rooney.
No 2-1 is better to take home. 2 away goals is better than 1.
Hasnt been a good half but we've scored, i think towards the end of the half we started to get more control of the game when we pushed Carrick up top and had Scholes sitting back - good move by the manager there
Neville has done well but mind you... Ribery is an excellent player. Give him the ball and who knows what he'd do.
I think a away win is good regardless of the scoreline, but we havent won anything yet still another 45 to go.
Oh please, he and Evra has hardly got the ball, he has made quite a few intercepts and give credit to Lahm as he did superb going up front.
weird game. we seem to be letting them rule the midfield and it may end up costing us. Its clear to me at least that we are a real threat going forward and if wayne or nani had taken there chances this tie could really be over.

All true, but at times our play has been positively suicidal. A better offensive team would have punished us. Hopefully SAF can iron out our noticeable vunerabilties.
Need to be more solid at the back. . .and the midfield needs to tighten up a tad more. Another than that, they're not great in the final third. Here's hoping we kill the tie next half.
Tighten up in midfield, keep hitting them on the break and there are goals in this, there's no question about that.
Evra's looked a wee bit sluggish to me. We could really do with a fit John O'Shea to give him a week off.

I give credit to Lahm but you can't tell me half the threat is because Park isn't actually doing enough.
The goal aside, they have been slightly the better team in the 1st half to be fair. Our possession play has been woeful and i'm sure Fergie is letting Carrick, Scholes and Nani know that right now.
If we can get the ball and control the game more in the 2nd half we can easily get another goal or two here.

That was pretty shitty football from both teams especially from us. We cant play like Barca because we just dont. We need to try and counter attack more. Bayern are going to keep pushing guys up front and we need to attack more.

Absolutely tremendous, especially given the fact that his was his left foot and the added bonus that he skipped by their defender, Lahm I think.

Bayern's midfield of 32 year old Van Bommel, and their backup left back/left midfielder, is playing like they're the ones with an extra man. We're making them look good.

I think you're right. In fact that kinda describes the 1st half. Quite a few players have looked out of sorts.
