I fear the outcome of this game without Rooney.

We are not a one-man team but it will lift them psychologically and reduce our attacking threat significantly :nervous:

van der Sar

Rafael
Ferdinand
Vidic
Evra

Carrick
Fletcher
Scholes

Nani
Berbatov
Giggs

SUBS: Kuszczak, Neville, J Evans, Park, Valencia, Gibson, Macheda.

All depends on Rooney's injury, obviously. He has preternatural powers of recovery.

van der Sar
Neville
Ferdinand
Evra

Fletcher
Carrick
Giggs

Valencia
Berbatov/Rooney
Park

If the back five can hold strong, we will win this.

Agree with this. What a huge lift for Chelsea watching Rooney hobbling off at the end there, and seeing United lose from a winning position. We have so little time to recover from tonight and they've had nothing else to focus on all week. Before tonight's game I fancied us for at least a draw against Chelsea; now I'd be delighted with a point.

I expect Giggs and Valencia to start, given they only came on as subs tonight.

Rafael Rio Vidic Evra
Valencia Fletcher Carrick Park
Giggs
Rooney/Berbatov

We need a backs to the wall "over my dead body" attitude from every player on Saturday.

We need OT to be bouncing aswell. A typical 12:45 atmosphere would be the last thing we need.

Looks like this will be the game that nudges the side that wins towards the title (unless a draw, ofc). Our midfield has been really solid recently, tonight aside, so I don't think we'll fall apart without Rooney, but we'll have to adapt our game a bit, and with his current form, it's almost like having a goal chalked off before kick-off. Hopefully we can play without Rooney like we did at Bolton. Chelsea will obviously be a tougher fixture, but our play was really fluid, especially second half at the Reebok.

1-1. Berbatov, followed by a Drogba equaliser. My prediction.

Wouldn't be too disappointed with a draw at the weekend, especially with Rooney being out, but a win would be a massive boost, and give us some leeway in the remaining games.

VDS, Neville, Rio, Vidic, Evra, Fletcher, Carrick, Scholes, Valencia, Nani, Berbatov.

Subs: PIG, Rafael, Evans, Gibson, Giggs, Park, Macheda.

Bring on the chavs

Rooney out: fecked
Rooney playing: Fine

Neville and Schloes played at Bolton and tonight, is it asking to much from them to play for the 3rd time in 7 days ?

Rooney out: fecked
Rooney playing: Fine

That really is concerning if that be the case.

I don't for one minute think we're the "one man team" many believe us to be, but an injury to Rooney shouldn't have the catastrophic effect many think it will.

If true, we really need to buy another World class striker in the summer without question.

Why are people replacing Nev with Rafa? Apart from the handball, Nev handled Ribery quite well IMO and has been in good form aswell

Nev has played 4 games on the bounce and personally with valencia and Rafael, I dont see Jerkoff and Malouda giving them much grief on the right. Besides I want Gaz to play at home against bayern and there's no way he can do 6 high intensity games consecutively.

If we can somehow blag our way to 3 points in this thus giving ourselves a bit of a cushion at the top we might be able to hang on to it if the worst comes to the worst and we have to make do without Rooney....all hinges on saturday for me, if Rooneys out for the majority of the run in then we'll need that 4 point cushion in my opinion as we'll drop points away from home without him.

Look, no Rooney is not an instant loss. Stop being negative Manchester United thrive off this pressure. I am going for a score draw.

They have Liverpool yet to play where they WILL slip up

Everyone seems 100% certain that Rooney is out. I am not. When you "step over" (as we call it in Norwegean, I don't know what one says in English) it hurts like hell then and there, but it is often less serious than it seems. It might not be as bad as it seemed.

However, I feel confident that Berbatov can step up if he has to, that man is a footballing genius. I think we can win the league without Rooney, the Champions League will be tougher, but I think we will advance never the less.

Correct. And you're right. But for me even if he is fit, I wouldnt play him on saturday because I think we can do over the chavs without him and having him up against bayern is more neccesary.

Football | Fergie plays down Rooney injury | ESPNSTAR.com

Rooney left the stadium in Munich with a protective boot over his left ankle, using the crutches for added support, following a challenge with Mario Gomez in United's 2-1 Champions League quarter-final first leg defeat to Bayern Munich.

But it is also claimed Rooney hurt his right foot in the same incident, although there appeared to be no strapping or support on that foot as he left the stadium.

It says left ankle there.........he was hopping off the field on his left leg and holding his right one off the ground.
