Manchester United vs. Bayern Munich

Murphy's law says that you're gonna lose some money at some point in time. If it's gonna be tonight, I'll personally go to Warsaw and hunt you down.

Or e-mock you, whichever way I feel more convenient doing at that point!

But if we win, I'm going to be a cult hero of epic proportions.

feck I've been nervous for about 24 hours now. I hope the supporters do their bit (Everyone at home to practice the rituals, and people in the stands to sing through the whole match).

The pre match nerves are kicking in .. and all of a sudden, i feel optimistic like I do before every game we play. We can win every game we start, we have the quality who all have enough experience and tactical acumen to beat the very best.

442 please SAF
kiko up top with berba behind him.....
I can dream though. Will be 451

More than likely - would also like to see 2 start up front, as Bayern's defence did not look at all clever in that first leg. Also feel that part of our problem in the last 2 games has been a lack of presence up front which has seen the ball returning at us far too quickly and far too frequently.

Yes, and ordinarily I'd agree, but if he gets injured and then misses the season like Fabregas did where would that leave us? Getting into the SF isn't the goal is it? We still need to beat the frenchies (which isn't a foregone conclusion), and then there's the little matter of either Inter or more probably Barca.

Even with Rooney the CL seems a very difficult prospect.

At least with the league there is a good chance if Chelsea slip up we can capitalize if Rooney is fit. Put it this way: I'd love to see Rooney start, but i'm afraid that we might be risking him too early and end up losing both the tie and the league as well.

I agree about Rooney, I'd rather he had more time than less & I wouldn't expect to see him until we play Shitty.

We have a good enough squad to win tonight & at the weekend, we are not a 1 man team.

We need to get out of this doom & gloom and boom & bust, otherwise we end up like Arse fans.

And stop thinking that if we win tonight we win the CL, otherwise we we end up like Scousers. We have no devine right to this, we have to take each game as it comes.

Do what I do, let a calm serenity wash over you between now & the start of the match then watch it through the gaps in your fingers. Also, it ain't over 'til its over, we need a proper United European night, never say never, remember the 3-1 turn around earlier in the competition?

C'MON YOU REDS!!!!!!!!

Completely agree with that bit. I think he'd be more tempted to play Giggs up with Berbs though than have Macheda on from the start. I'm not getting excited about these Rooney rumours, just can't see him being included in the squad tonight.

SSN Reporting that Robben was quick off the field during warmups. May start on the bench.

Even if he (Rooney) is in the squad, I don't want him risked if he's not 100% - I'd rather we had him for the full run in of the PL

The Rooney return story isn't going away, apparently walked into the stadium unaided and with his kit bag.

WTF? Don't tell me this.

Sorry but, unless he is 100% there shouldn't even be a hint about him playing. I think it ingrains to the team that we are desperate for him and can't get through the tie without him.

He needs to walk in with a beer in each hand, talking about how he'll be ready to play in the semis when the team today does the job on the field while he has a pint or 5.

please play 2 upfront, berbatov alone upfront just doesn't work....

Don't tell 'Feed me' either or he could end up betting on Carrick instead of Berbs.

Don't be naive. Every professional sports man plays with niggles and recurrent injurys, Evans and Berba will both be under the knife this summer for instance.

A Grade I ligament sprain is nowhere near enough to justify not playing him.

Gotta be a 4-4-1-1

Valencia - Fletcher - Carrick - Nani

--------Berba-------------------

------------------Kiko (Who I shook hands with at the Trafford Centre) Macheda

Fergie says he'll be happy with 1-0. He wont play 2 strikers - mores the pity.
Fergie said one of O'Shea or Hargreaves would sub against Chelsea. In fact, he suggested Hargreaves might sub tonight, despite the fact he's not in the CL squad.

I'm guessing at:

-------------------VdS-------------------
Rafael--------Vidic-------Rio----------Evra
---------Carrick--Fletcher--Scholes/Giggs--
Nani/Valencia--------------------------Park
-----------------Berbatov----------------

Last time we rushed back a player for an important CL game (Vidic after the broken collarbone) for second leg at San Siro - turned out to be a disaster (oh and Rio in the final last year).

Fantastic if he is 100% but, if he isn't - very well could haunt us and undermine our confidence if he ends up missing more games if he plays today and aggravates the injury.

I want Rooney to play but, deep down I have a very sick feeling (could just be pre-match jitters).

Vidic is notoriously slow at coming back though, he always takes his time to adjust.

Just seen this as well, also Robben walking in. Both seem as fit as they usually look when arriving at the ground.

Was it significant that they were both in training gear rather than match day suits?

From Oliver Kay:
Consensus in the press room at Old Trafford is that Rooney is in line to start against Bayern. Teamsheets will arrive shortly #mufc

Maybe they both went through late fitness tests?

Hmmm decisions, decisions, should I wear my 99 top or the keano-viera bust up black one? Feck it, I'll see whatever falls off the shelf first. Enjoy the match lads. UNITED!
