Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur

I like your team but I'm torn between Nev and Rafael at right back. Bale is mighty quick and Nev is mighty slow but Rafael is mighty impulsive.

I also wonder if Carrick might get his game after having an enforced rest. He's usually excellent against his old team.

Mmm yeah. Right back is the perennial question mark these days. Irrespective of who is picked, you know that Valencia is going to put in a shift to help his full back out.

It's a tough one. Bale deserves every bit of respect he's getting at the moment. As you say, I'd be very worried about Rafael's rashness and positional discipline in a game like this - and I think if he did play, Redknapp would encourage his side to channel even more play down that flank. I know what you mean about Neville, but in fairness, I thought he shackled Bellamy superbly and contrary to what most people have said, I think he handled Ribery fine as well. I'd sway towards Neville now we're at the business end of the season.

Carrick! I hadn't even considered him - he's fallen off the radar hasn't he? He's had a long rest now. Who knows, it could be the making of him for the last few matches. Wouldn't be shocked to see Berbatov out and Carrick in, in a three man midfield. He's had wretched form, but he's capable of so much more. I hope he has a strong end to the season so we can put to bed these ideas of him being flogged in the summer. Edit: Carrick, that is! Though the same applies to Berba.

Are you lot having a laugh!? Fergie will never play 4-4-2 in this one!

4-5-1 all the way:

---------------------------------VDS--------------------------------
-Neville------------Evans-------------------Vidic----------------Evra-
----------------Fletcher-------------------Carrick--------------------
-------------------------------Scholes-------------------------------
Valencia-------------------------------------------------------Nani---
--------------------------------Rooney-------------------------------

I was thinking the same. He might if Carrick was on form. Valencia/Fletcher/Scholes/Nani is midfield-lite and Berbatov can't be trusted to give a dimension up-front.

I see 4-3-3 - Sorry!

Just heading to get the boat now and then a train for this one, stupid volcano!

Should be a cracker and lets hope Spurs keep up their abysmal record in Old Trafford.

----------VDS--------
-Neville Ferdinand Vidic Evra-
Valencia Scholes Fletcher Nani
----------Berbatov-----------
------------Rooney-----------

So no-one knows what times the train leaves from the stadium? None of the information sites have the time. I usually get the metro and then drive but got to rush back for a wedding.

With the way SAF was talking up Neville in the press conference ... he was really really bigging him up .... Rafael is a sure starter.

Was surprised not to hear anything about Rooney or Berbatov during the press conference - no one asked how Rooney was doing which was just weird.

Given injury updates, this is Spurs team I think will play tomorrow:

------------- Gomes -----
Kaboul - Dawson - King - Ekotto
Bentley - Palacios - Modric- Bale
----- Defoe - Pavlyuchenko

Subs: Alnwick, Bassong, Huddlestone, Jenas, Lennon, Gudjohnsen, Crouch

I'd expect Lennon to come on in the 2nd half for 20 -30 mins almost regardless of the game situation at that point, so that his pace can be unleashed against some hopefully tiring defenders.

sure thats what i always do!

I cant see a 4-4 2 here in this game. i am hoping for a quick start and to have the game dead and buried after 60 odd mins

big win would spook chewsea

Strangely calm for this game...it must be because we did what was considered impossible- picked ourselves up and won at City, and Chelsea dropped points. If nothing else, we are going to put a fight till the last game of the season
I'd say 3-1 United

I'd go with that.

Lets pass them to death.

Felt like Chelsea got caught re: Bale. It was a good performance and scored a good goal but he mostly ran straight lines and don't think he'd be any more worriesome for the right backs than what what they generally face.

Man United vs Tottenham Team News

Wes Brown returns to the Manchester United squad for Saturday's Barclays Premier League encounter with Tottenham at Old Trafford.

Brown has recovered from the broken foot he suffered at Wolves at the beginning of March but is available to bolster Sir Alex Ferguson's defensive options.

With Chelsea not in action until Sunday, United have the chance to reclaim the Premier League's top spot for 24 hours but Owen Hargreaves will not be involved as his planned comeback has been delayed by a calf strain.

Winger Aaron Lennon could return for Tottenham for the first time in almost four months.

He will not start but is expected to be on the bench and manager Harry Redknapp says he "could get 20 minutes".

Nico Kranjcar and Vedran Corluka (both ankle) are both still out but Ledley King has a chance of returning and Jermaine Jenas has recovered from a virus.

Teams:

Man Utd (from): Van der Sar, Kuszczak, Foster, Neville, O'Shea, Rafael, De Laet, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evans, Evra, Carrick, Hargreaves, Scholes, Fletcher, Park, Gibson, Obertan, Valencia, Giggs, Nani, Berbatov, Rooney, Macheda, Diouf.

Tottenham (from): Gomes, Alnwick, Kaboul, Walker, Assou-Ekotto, Bale, Dawson, Bassong, King, Dervite, Livermore, Huddlestone, Modric, Bentley, Rose, Pavlyuchenko, Jenas, Lennon, Defoe, Gudjohnsen, Crouch, Palacios.

I hope Evra doesn't get tired because Lennon will play for like the last 20 minutes and with his speed he could have an impact like Walcott had for Arsenal in their first leg tie against Barca.

fök I'm so nervous about this I can't sleep..don't actually know why, haven't been this nervous since Milan away which I saw live. Maybe it's because we have fought ourselves a chance to nick it from the chavs... 9 hours to go people!!

But we're at home so that will give us a big boost.. In Wayne We Trust!

i hate early kickoffs on a sat

if things dont go well , it ruins the weekend

:nervous:

I dreamt we were drawing nil-nil till the ninetieth minute, except they were Oldham for some reason, and then there was a goalmouth scramble in which Frank Lampard, who appeared to be playing for them, shoved a butter knife in the tiny gap a defender's leg and the goalpost, withdrew it, showed the ref that it was wet, and the ref gave a goal. I was gutted.

 You can't really add to that.

We should twat them 3-1, am pretty confident.

if we put in a performance like we did at white hart lane we'll win well

think this will be tight and nervy - i really hope we come out and tear into them like we did against bayern

think we'll win by the odd goal
