Sunderland v Manchester United

Obviously that's not true in the slightest though.

Would be a bit depressing if it was, but it's not. Not even slightly.

Anyway, back to the game...

Nani's been the best of the lot by quite a bit I think.

Berbatov's been quite poor all-round, unusually.

Rooney's been energetic and promising but still very wasteful, found space time and again though.

Giggs has been very wasteful but could've scored a cracking goal.

Fletcher and Scholes both very good.

Defense haven't had to work very hard except when they've been closed down on the ball.
\

It's starting to get a bit embarrassing the way Berbatov messes up his chances.

A bit?

He does everything else pretty well. Passes, flicks, holding up the ball. Then just as he gets into the box he turns into Anderson's retarded quadriplegic sister with two left feet.

It's insane just how many times he bumbles, fumbles and generally fluffs goal scoring chances. It does my head in cause you look at him and think this is a guy who should be scoring these.

2 season...i'm done. time for a change.

Perhaps. But regardless of the price tag, as a striker he just hasn't done enough. We create more then most teams in the world and for Berba to only get 12 goals in a season is shocking.

Lampard and Gerrard have 20, and they're midfielders...

Sorry, it's just not good enough.

To be fair, he had 27 in 2 seasons at Spurs. We knew what we were getting into.

EDIT: In the league, I meant

Can I just point out to all the Berba-bashers, that if his confidence is shot - taking him off at HT is not going to help. Would rather see him stay on and then see Macheda for Rooney around the hour mark - give Rooney a rest and keep him fresh for the Stoke game.

Well said.

Rooney's not 100%

Would have been great had liverpool decided to put in at least half the effort Sunderland are putting in.

We've not been brilliant but, have the goal. Need another one to ease the tension a bit. You can't score if you don't shoot. Someone's got to grab the game by the scruff of the neck. When the going gets tough, the tough get going. And other sporting cliches.

Is right.

Berbatov's finishing is shocking really. How did he not even test the keeper with that chance. Rooney must be frustrated with him

Did I hear a very quiet chant of Viva Ronaldo earlier?

Just been saying the same thing here, I like him but man alive he really does make a rod for his own back sometimes.

I know right. I mean I understand the fact that he's not a quintessential finisher and we've always known that.

But his consistency and shooting have been downright appalling during his time here. He has a decent game one week and fails to build up on it. For a guy who's 29 and now closing in on 2 seasons at a club, I fail to conjure up any defence for it.
feck knows how his finishing has gotten this poor.

Decent half from us. Could've had a couple more had it not been for Berbatov.

The dippers fecked our hopes considerably, but still all is not lost. Let's get the job done today. Anything can happen on the last day.

I would also consider giving Macheda a go in place of Berbatov.

Rooney and Evra have been the best players in my eyes. Nani was very, very quiet before his goal.

Very rarely does he contribute next to nothing in the build-up, quite the opposite in the first half usually. It's normally him and Nani being the two biggest threats in the first half but it's not happened.

Can't Jamie Redknapp afford another suit, shirt, tie?

Next time he does decide to take the plunge and buy a new suit, lets hope that its the next size up, particularly the trousers.

Macheda on for Berba at HT could be a significant signal about Berba's future at United.

N.B. - Unless we're losing, then bring on Macheda for a defender

So, we take off our best striker to build Berba's confidence in this penultimate game when we still have a borderline chance of winning the PL?

Good thinking!

I still feel sorry for him though. He was doomed from the start with that price-tag.

Why say that?

Veron came in with a big tag and didn't live to expectations, but Rooney and Rio came in with big price tags and have more than lived up to expectations. All depends on the player imho and Berbs has been found wanting so far imho :(.

I also think he hangs on to the ball too much when there's a quick pass to pick and that kills our fast breaks. In my opinion, he destroys much more than he creates.

fair play for sunderland attacking us giving us numerous opportunities to break. we should really have a goal or 2 more but those chance will continue to come. We just need to take them or it could be squeaky bum time at the end of the game again

Mostly agree with this.
I take it that the "unusually" thing was meant sarcastically :)
Think Fletcher'sand Oshea's passing was a bit shit today so far.
Evans was a bit shaky and Vidic was immense.

Right, so thats the reason why a less then half fit Rooney has been picked above that shower of shit twice in the last month.

Berbatov's scored more league goals than any other second-choice striker this season though, including Anelka.

Depends what you base your expectations on.
The expectation is for a 30 million pound striker who's had an enormous amount of game time to nab more then 12 goals in a season. Anelka is not a 30 million quid striker now is he

Instead, a free transfer has probably close to double the goal to minute ratio.

We could have fecking bought Villa for that 2 years ago. Its about time he either starts scoring or fecks off. Manchester United does not adapt to the slow arse pace that he plays the game at.
