Philadelphia Union vs Manchester United - Pre-Season Tour

Macheda needs to have match sharpness to be really effective. If he's not 100%, he looks slow and lethargic.

+ Cleverly good when involved
- Not involved enough
+ Welbeck has looked lively
- Macheda started well, but got worse as the half went on
+ That defender's sideburns
- That "Stop Mocking me"
+ Scholes passing at times
- Defence has been poor, and midfield hasn't offered much protection
+ Fabio has got forward well
-Obertan has been frustrating

Cleverley's grown well into the game and been energetic and creative. Welbeck has looked lively from the start and the most likely to score - his movement and link-up play has been very good.

Kiko and Obertan have been frustrating and wasted a number of good positions.

I think Obertan has been ok, but Kiko is trying to hard.

I know it's only pre-season, but a few of this lot need to have a serious fecking word with themselves. When two 35+ year olds blatantly make the rest of the side (Cleverley excluded) look like a bunch of burger munching OAPs, you have to wonder where certain players' heads are at.

Have a bit of fecking pride in yourselves eh lads?

No wonder Giggs is pissed

You don't think Welbeck has played well?

Thought we were quite ok in general. Philadelphia Union surprised us a bit I think, surprised me at least.

Obertan terribly wasteful, but he's holding his position well and getting that space. Macheda wasteful too, trying too much when the simple option's on. Welbeck's been involved in a few good moves and I do enjoy his grace on the ball but bit disappointed he's not utilised the space to his left.

Giggs and Scholes both with a few very good balls but they've not had a lot of possession and they weren't at their best, Scholes still the dictator as always mind. Cleverley's been promising I thought, couple of very good balls to Welbeck and he's been positive on the ball, think he's pushed a bit too high up off it though and left Scholes slightly isolated.

Fabio's been very subdued, and with the space in front of him - because of both Fred and Giggs' tendency to drift inside - that's disappointing, but I think he's been wary of Fred and he's had a bit of trouble with him a few times. Rest of the back three have got some good blocks in, O'Shea has been very solid as has Evans, Brown still slightly ropey on a couple of occasions but good in general.

TK's not had a lot to do and when he has he's not been particularly convincing.

Cleverley looks sharp - much better than in the last match. Welbeck has done better as well.

On the whole though the team is playing like a group of young players who are just trying not to screw up instead of trying to take the game and win it.

Fergie and Giggs do not look happy at all.

Cleverley has been brilliant when he has played in the middle, Obertan has been poor.

So who's fault is it that Union have had plenty of the ball, Scholes? Was always going to be a tough ask for him playing next to Scholes. But still, its the whole which matters not a couple of phases of play.

haha, intervew with Edwin, lol. he's just so cool and chilled out, jez, I wish I could be like that. ...maybe 2s up on a smoke ?

You don't think Welbeck has played well?

He's been alright. Hardly anything inspiring though. Couple of nice touches and a half decent shot. No runs in behind and nothing like as lively as Diouf looked against Celtic.

Macheda looks like he's just rolled out of bed ten minutes ago, Obertan maybe twenty minutes ago. O'Shea looks like some fat kid who's been forced to participate in a PE lesson.

MUTV isn't half shoddy

"Argh just stick a techno track on it, it'll be fine"

Welbeck's first touch has been simply stunning. He was our best player in the first half imo. Had that volley gone in.....
