Airtricity League XI Vs Manchester United

I hope both of your daughters marry into old money, and become really posh and anti-anarchist.

Now I can see a slight resemblance as far as John Paul & George are concerned but did no one tell these guys that Pete Best left the Beatles?

I was impressed with the stadium. Was was 3 rows from the back of the upper east and the few was perfect. The bar facilitys in the ground were great and it wasnt too difficult to smuggle those large bottles of carlsberg back to your seat. I didnt have any food, which was probably a good thing. It was annoying having to walk around the long way back into town as thy had set up exit routes and blocked roads. In true landsdown style I was sitting besite a pair of complete wankers though.

Probably not but hey, all Beatles impersonators are pretty much the same.....

Imagine, going to see that rather than watching Utd win 7-1... it could inspire me to do a Moat!

I was in the upper east stand about 3 rows from the back. Seriously :nervous:

Aye, and Fergie on the big screen mouthing 'feck me' afterwards was even better.

 i saw that was brilliant. I was cringing when I saw the kid do that..such an american thing to do. I saw it a few times when I was coaching over there..my players were under orders never to try something as stupid and pointless as that. Fergies reaction was priceless and exactly the same as mine!

 Strolling down to the odd game might help a bit lads.

Ive been to plenty of games, even now living in Belfast ive been to a few Setanta Cup games against Gelntoran and Linfield. Derry have no-one to blame for whats happened except for the various Boards over the years not being upto the task(they’re fans, not businessmen); they’ve been fecking about with the nights for home matches for far too long, changing them from Sundays which worked fine to Thursday, to Wednesday to Friday and half the time not advertising it. No investment in the early 90’s when people were going and the team was successful, almost going bankrupt 10 years ago only for the people in the city to get together and raise money and a couple of big friendlies saved them. They then had a few successful years, including the UEFA cup run but they went and did it all again, anyone with any interest in the league will know what happened with Derry last year. Ive no sympathy for the team at the minute, theres a lot of money has gone into that club through being successful and the fans themselves but theres feck all on the pitch or in the stadium to show for it. Thank God for Stephen Kenny!

Aye that echoes the views of lots of folk, and with a shiny competitor so near they deserve very little sympathy. The game here above schoolboy level is not worth a curse.

I was in the ground 15 mins before the game and didn't hear it, I know it's a big event the but working man is busy til 6 and don't live along the dort line.

Havlock Square used to be better is all. And within the same planning laws - were you really pointing that out to me?

No I was just telling you what I know about why that end looks so ridiculous.

Don't mind moses, CZ, he's a grumpy old curmudgeon.

Of course, talking about videoing mexican waves on your mobile phone was always going to raise hackles ;)

Good point about the strange demographic, moses, I said the same thing to my mate. Most unusual.

I take it you didn't order the Tempura Battered Fish?

 It was quite funny actually, there was a Manc lad sitting about 4 rows in front of us who, after everytime it passed by us, would turn around and unleash a torrent of abuse at us "out of towners" and our "wank stadium." I never managed to get him on video in the end.

I think it looks more ridicuous than it has to is all I was trying to say ....

as for that manc, are you sure it wasn't me?

To be fair, it probably was a bit harsh on the three of you because I know you have actually been to LOI games. And I do accept that the league and the clubs are dreadfully run, they're a total shambles. I'm only 19 but I've already seen so many clubs run themselves into the ground and/or go out of business.

Still, my point was that without attendances the league is just going to continue dying on its arse. No sane investor is going to invest in a league with such low attendances. I just think its a bit rich to bemoan the state of the game here if you've given up on/never go to games. No offense, but you're part of the many problems. Higher attendances wouldn't magically make everything better, but it would be a starting point.

Ah no problem man, im not even living in Derry at the minute so it is hypocritical of me to criticise when im not living there. I completely agree with you aswell, it does need people to go out and go to the games. But barring a massive change in mindset that wont happen.
