CHARITY SHIELD: Chelsea vs. Manchester United; Sun 8 August 2010

Potentially, Fabio and Hernandez on the pitch together today...WOOOOO

Would've liked to see Nani play from the start, get his confidence up ahead of next week. Carrick has had a miraculous recovery (why can't Hargreaves?) and good to see Owen playing from the start, he looked sharp against the Irish.

With all this talk of partnerships, I'd laugh if our most lethal attack force consisted of Berba and Hernandez...put Fergie in a bit of a pickle

MATCH RULES:

- 90 minutes.
- Penalty shoot-out if scores level after 90 minutes.
- Seven named substitutes
- Maximum of six substitutions.

Seems very conceivable to me, with Berbatov's eye for a pass and Hernandez beating the offside trap. Perhaps play Rooney on one of the wings and Nani on the other; there's definitely goals in that side!

Ahh thanks. 7 allowed on bench but 6 allowed? Why bother.

Berbatov is exactly the type of striker you'd want to partner strikers like chica and owen, so it is very possible that a berbanandez partnership may be our best partnership. That said, big games, we only play 1 striker, and rooney is still the man for that. Gives us much more options this season, and we can rely less on rooney :)

So to confirm:

van der Sar

O'Shea
J Evans
Vidic
Fabio

Valencia
Carrick
Scholes
Park

Rooney
Owen

SUBS: Kuszczak, Smalling, Fletcher, Giggs, Nani, Berbatov, Hernandez.

What flavour crisps shall I eat first? Cheese and Onion, or Prawn Cocktail?

ahh fook, I just realized no Macheda or Cleverley.

It's to be expected though, look at that team sheet, with the season one week away, all those players need match time.

I don't think a lots changed since then. If anyone's dropping out the top three then it will almost certainly be the inexperienced United squad."

From too old to inexperienced.

It's good that we're getting written off, does no harm to us. Makes it all the better when we lift the trophy in May.

So what are we? Too old? Too young? Or what?!

What inexperience? We sold Foster and Tosic, everyone else is still there. Idiot.

From Michael_Essien on 606: "Is it bad to admit that even as a Chelsea fan, I'm looking forward to seeing what Hernandez can do ? He looked awesome in the World Cup. He's going to keep Berbatov out of the side this season."
