Manchester United vs. Rangers

On a side note, those this mean Fletcher is our most important player? :O

Andy Gray would make a brilliant giant bobblehead.

Does Owen have a future at the club?! Am very surprised not to see him starting and cant imagine how he will motivate himself or how the club keeps him motivated if he does not play in a game like this.

He knows his role and we are lucky to have sub like him in the club. Any criticism against him is unfair and ignorant.

Rangers: McGregor, Broadfoot, Weir, Bougherra, Papac, Whittaker, Davis, McCulloch, Edu, Naismith, Miller. Subs: Alexander, Lafferty, Foster, Beattie, Weiss, Little, Hutton.

One of my happiest line-ups in ages, this.

Sky are playing it as SAF resting players before the Scousers, which I agree with to a point, but a lot of players have been dropped too.

Good to see SAF isn't taking this points-dropping thing lightly. Looking forward to the game a lot more now, let's see how the lads do.

I hate that they now say 'United are on HD2 and Spurs are on HD4', yeah it's also on normal 2 and 4 you nobs, stop trying to get me to spend my money.

Can't remember last time I was this excited  Maybe the Chelsea CL final

I think the players 'dropped' would include Gary Neville and Jonny Evans, possibly Patrice Evra (but I could make a case for him being rested for Liverpool as well).

van der Sar, Vidic, Scholes, and Berbatov are definitely rested for Liverpool. Probably Nani as well.

People praising saf for dropping a few players (and i have nothing against that), but the fact is, the vast majority of the dropped players will be in the squad for liverpool.

They're still missing out on a huge game

Evra got subbed before we conceded those two soft goals

Evra and Evans imo.

Or Fergie figures he has to give Fabio and Smalling some pitch time, and that's it's probably better he did it against Rangers than Liverpool... It's just the way he sees the group stage, at least the home matches. Evra didn't even start two of those matches last season.

Gutsy lineup but I like it.

It shows the 'guaranteed starters' that they have dropped the ball, big time. We have a strong squad and hopefully these guys will show them how it's done. We have enough to beat Rangers at home anyway. Just gotta perform.

Cmon United!

That's a mad team selection, to be fair.

A few changes is fine, but why change the entire fecking line up, and, why leave out by far your three best attacking players this season from the squad completely, for a game where the other team are likely to sit back and be hard to break down?

Goes down as one of Fergie's inexplicable spastic episodes, for me.

Maybe in the past. When you're in the CL year in year out, I doubt they feel a group stage match to be huge at all. All due respect to Rangers and the battle of Britain concept.

They are missing out on apperance and goal bonuses ;)

Only one I'm not sure about is PIG for VdS. But then at Edwin's age he can't play every game, and in all honesty Rangers' at home shouldn't be a difficult game.

Looking forward to seeing Rooney & Hernandez as a pairing, and good to see youngsters (Smalling, Gibson & Fabio) getting playing time.

Agreed!!! I think it's total DUMB from Fergie

I'm expecting Valencia and Rooney to have great games!

I'll wager you'll be surprised by the performance of this team tonight.

I fecking hope so anyway!

Come on United!

I don't see this side as any statement to any players who could be to blame for the last minute goals on the weekend.

It's rotating the squad as we are playing a side we should easily beat and every single one of those players picked tonight is desperate for games and has hardly any match practice(with the exception of Rooney and Park who have abit).

Fletch is playing because we have no Anderson or Carrick.

Still looks a good side and there are a number of players I want a look at, Hernandez, Gibson, Smalling and Fabio in particular.

Very disappointed with the team. Didn't expect to see the reserves tonight.
