Manchester United vs. Rangers

Very disappointed with the team. Didn't expect to see the reserves tonight.

Because Rio, Brown, Valencia, Rooney, Fletcher, Gibson, Park and Hernandez are regulars for the reserves...

Fergie just basically said a lot of players dropped because of sat

Only problem I have is with the midfield, no creativity at all without Giggs/Scholes/Nani.

Strikers is good and defence isn't bad either.

Delighted to see Fabio in there, especially since I thought he was injured. Hopefully he can take a few steps forward this season, Evra needs a deputy.

It's not a reserve side.

Fletcher, Rio, Wes, Valencia, Park, Rooney and Hernandez are first team players for me.

Fabio and Smalling are promising youngsters, so the CL is always a good breeding ground for them.

Gibson and Kuszack are squad players, no issues with them getting games in such a match.

This side is more than good enough to comfortably win this match.

bbc said we are being disrespectful to rangers with that line-up.

ha! my predicted lineup was pretty close.

Bit worried about Smalling, but the rest make sense.

Come on United!

Just showed Rooney's header at the San Siro last season.

Fergie mentioned he didn't know if he played his best team against everton n that some of the lads playing tonight are maybe more in contention at starting places based on form... Or words to that effect

Central defence is the only concern. Unsure about Rio's match fitness and Smalling doesn't fill me with much confidence from what I've seen of him so far. Hope they do well.

I think someone is trying to stir things up with "the weakened team" stuff from last season. Henry Winther tweeted something about it earlier, and said that argument is undermined because of UEFA's 25 man roster rule.

I was hoping Berbatov would play so he could keep up his good run of form, but I'm glad Chicharito got the start.

Alright you two, which is it? Midfield or central defense?

Rangers only playing Kenny Miller upfront so hopefully we should be able to contain him. I agree with doubts about Smalling. He looks like the type to make at least a few errors a game (given his inexperience).

Rio should be able to guide him though so I have faith we will be fine.

Most of the lads playing today have barely seen any action this season, so talking about their 'form' is a bit rubbish. Fergie has made changes he would have made regardless of the Everton match - just like he's shown in the past he has no trouble benching players who have just scored hat tricks - and uses the chance to say a few words as a kick up the other lads's arses.

We would have seen a very very similar lineup even if we had kept the ball after Cahill's goal and won 3-2.

I think we need these changes, or rather the players need them as something of a message.

I'll wager you'll be surprised by the performance of this team tonight.

I fecking hope so anyway!

Come on United!

I think it'll be scrappy due to the lack of match practive and cohesion, and possibly the result is even at risk.

Was planning to take my brother to this game originally. Wouldn't be a happy man at forking out the various costs now, if I had

I just ordered TSNHD with the push of a few buttons, finally a positive for Canadian TV.

To make up for it I have to get a load of other channels that I'll probably never watch, all for the bargain price of $9.99/month.

That's just poor. Goes to show you how hard pressed journalists are of stirring up something. Anything. Both with Wolves last season, or this match tonight. I'm not saying you can't discuss the changes, but stick to the sporting side of things rather than trying to figure out if a team can be punished for it.
