MERGED: Rooney signs new contract!

Yes, he's too good to have and stick on the bench for 3 months assuming he shows some form in training. More to the point, I don't think there's a worse thing you can do for getting a good fee than sticking the guy in the reserves. Nothing says "we need to sell here" more than that.

hope he never plays for us again. Why should he? He doesn't want to be here. Keep him in tip top shape and make sure we get as much as we can for him. We know he'll got to City - Cash + Hart and A. Johnson please. However with our negotiating team we'd end up with £10m + Jim Whitley

It's pretty obvious he expected big signings in the transfer window. That didn't happen so he reversed his decision to sign a new contract. Do I blame him, yes to a degree but is the current squad going to win anything major without huge investment (which we don't have), no. Comes down to his ambition to win trophies, same reason he left everton.

I hope I'm wrong but maybe there is some irony in once a blue always a blue...

We aren't Arsenal for crying out loud, nobody has ever left utd because the club failed to match their ambition.

The Irony - of Ronaldo, Rooney and Tevez, Tevez was the one who tried hardest to stay and who was then branded as a money grabbing whore.

Well, he did go to City.

Do you have a boner for Tevez? A player who talked shit for months about SAF, constantly complained in the media, and then fecked off to City? And let's not forget he was shite in 08/09.

I still don't have a problem with Tevez, he would have stayed had we not waited till the last possible minute to offer him a deal, he would have snapped our hands off if we'd offered him a contract at the start of the season but we didn't show enough desire to keep him so he left. If he'd gone to any other club (apart from the scousers) fans wouldn't be against him, Rooney will get shit wherever he goes.

He's obviously had his head turned , and may be Coleen wants out of the UK ...... I suppose we may get the answer with the opening of the Jan transfer window.

However, he's been well treated , I think Fergie has been more than fair with him :
he's entitled to do what he wants , and he takes notice of what Stretford says, so:

thanks Wayne, now **** off you under performing waste of a Red shirt

I don't think there's any way back for Wayne after the way Fergie has spoken of him today. He's gone.

Tevez wasn't.

Initially he didn't, but ultimately I think SAF was partially to blame because he didn't show Tevez enough love (and when you look at all the players we have had in the last 5 years, Tevez is the one who to me needs the most love for him to perform on the pitch).

In any case, that's over...it honestly didn't even bother me that much that Tevez left. Even him doing well doesn't worry me because he strikes me as the sort of fella who will one day just decide to quit the game and walk away. He's got the wildness in him.

But this shrek looking motherfecker...I genuinely feel swindled today.

How should a player leave then?

When has he not respected the club?

Well, if you don't already know, nothing I say will change your mind.

Give it a week, I'll come back and ask you the same question.

If Wayne has his reasons, which are family reasons, perhaps he should have told Fergie about it. FFS, you'd think their relationship was better than this.

I hate football at the moment.

Just saw the MUTV interview on sky, SAF didnt really reveal much but how good United has been with Rooney over the years. Comparing the situation to Giggs and Scholes etc. The history of the club being a players/family club. How things has changed with all the money in the game today, giving the example with VDS and his father after the game on saturday and how all that is gone in todays game. Also says the door is still open for Rooney to stay if he wants...

That's my day effectively ruined.

day...we'll be lucky if this news doesn't ruin our season.

Top 4 finish would be nice, and hopefully we can get 35-40+ million for this greedy bastard. I have this sick feeling we are actually going to lose money on this twat.

What the feck is with the players not knowing. Rio is almost second in charge. Fergies comments do not correlate with reality if what Rio is saying is true. Why would players feel pressure if they didn't know he was leaving?

I would imagine Rio did not know that Fergie was going to reveal all to the press today rather than not knowing anything about the situation.

SAF said before he used to be in contact with the players father to help guide them and now the player live in the pocket of agents.

Agent scum.

This is the thing if it was now I could understand because of his family situation. But he has wanted to leave since the summer. There wasn't any issues then. I don't understand it. Probably money.

Fergie seems very hurt from that interview...

Yesterday I said to Edwin who made that mistake on Saturday, ‘Well, how are you feeling?’ He said the first phone call he’d received was from his father. I said, ‘Well listen to him, he’s the one you should listen to.’ But that’s gone now. We’re dealing with agents who live in the pockets of players. We live in a different world now and we have to deal with it in a different way. It’s a pity but it’s there and we have to deal with it.

True that. Loyalty counts for nothing nowadays. For one there's no gratefulness, respect shown by the supposed superstars of todays football. Just mercenaries, just like Wayne.

The message is that they have to trust Manchester United. If you look at the history of our club over the last 50 years, at the amount of trophies we’ve won, the honour we’ve received, the recognition we’ve got, the respect we’ve got from around the world, the admiration we’ve had from everywhere. We’ve produced more players than any other club in the country for England. It’s a fantastic history and we should always remember that. You have setbacks, we have some blips at times. Last year for instance, we could have created history by winning the league for the fourth time in a row. It had never been done. We lost it by a point. That doesn’t tell us this team is falling apart or anything like that. What it always represents is the next step forward. How do we challenge? That’s Manchester United. You can’t continually win everything every year. But when you have the little blips, we have the structure, we have the management staff to deal with that in order to get us back into line again. We have to deal with Saturday’s disappointment and we have the wherewithal to deal with that.

Really there's nothing much to say...

We've lost Ruud, Ronaldo, Beckham, Tevez and Stam in the last 10 years or so. All of them still had a lot to offer and were genuinely fantastic players.

Manchester United is bigger than any player and will continue to be so. Berbatov and Hernandez will step up to the plate and we will still be a fantastic team.

Nice from him to put pressure on club to sell him too, now instead of £60m we could get we'll probably sell him for £40m or thereabouts, at least Ronaldo was specific that he was happy to stay here in those two years when we refused to sell him. Ungrateful cnut, it's beyond me how he can treat the club this way after all we've done for him, but then again there's Rooney for you, a lad who cheated on his wife with a dozen of 45-year old prostitutes. He can feck off.

That is odd. Rooney merked Rio.
