MERGED: Rooney signs new contract!

How much could we get for Rooney? It won't be anywhere near the money we got for Ronaldo.

I'd be over the moon if we cuold get £40 million for him

Again, that's from a fan's point of view. I still maintain that the opinion of the world's professionals would easily see him put in the world class bracket.

But they havent really have they? Before the Barca final i recall someone asking Pep if Rooney was world class and he almost seemed like he was reluctant to say he was, ending on "hes a great player in england" I think managers love to have that type of player in their team, never say die attitude, goal threat, bravery but at the end of it i dont think many class him as world class, perhaps on the crest of it but not quite there yet. Then again i dont know what they actually think

I'm trying my best to forget about the fat batty, but it's difficult.

I just want him gone now. Get the feck out.

Let us get on with our business and sort ourselves out. Can't wait to see where we go from here.

I don't think Rooney will play again for United. He might not even set foot in Old Trafford. There will be a deal done and he'll be sent on his way - hopefully abroad

I think it should go even further than that, tbh. I'd tell him he's no longer welcome at Carrington, order him to not attend games, and basically just treat him how he deserves to be treated by freezing him out.

That way the player's will know he's no longer a part of things and we can focus on the rest of the season.

The last thing we need is our preparation for games overshadowed by his presence. It's best for all parties if he fecks off now, arranges a transfer to wherever he wants to go, stays away, and then sell him as soon as the window opens.

no I'm a Martian, I work with a bunny and a duck and together we have adventures and shenanigans :wenger:

you can remove that word from the sentence if you like, wouldn't change anything

Simple enough question really.

You just keep throwing 'English' in there, including saying he's limited technically because he's English.

Do you employ any English people?

pretty convenient for your side of the argument to make that claim, seeing as how we can never actually find out what they truly think. did you do that on purpose?

I agree. Lets settle this asap, so we can move on. We need to focus on winning games, with or without him

Yes.

Rooney has decided that he is leaving. He's dealt with it in such a dreadful way that to have him around the rest of the players would most likely be detrimental to their concentration and morale. We can't have that.

However he is still contracted to us and I'm sure the reserves would benefit from an experienced player like that in their midst, a constant reminder of how not to behave towards the club you are contracted to, your colleagues or your fans.

He can stay in the reserves.

Perfect revenge is to get Ronaldo to seduce Colleen and get her preggers... thats why letting him go to Madrid is a must.

Anyone who thinks he's staying is blowing bubbles against a tide, to be honest.

He's as good as gone, it was all over Fergie's face and it was evident from Fergie's words and tone that it is very much the case. It's a terrible blow, an unexpected betrayal, but he's a goner. Just deal with it and move on.

He took 6 minutes to clarify a player's attitude.... seriously...how can anyone expect Rooney to come back after that? He was visibly hurt and disappointed.

Once a Red.... now feck ROO!

Surely your not serious

I'm very serious - we all slate our media for overrating John Terry and Stevie Me because "they're English", well, I've always thought that Rooney is overrated but we're not allowed to say that at the Caf.

Well, we are now - Ronaldo, Messi, Henry is his prime, Ronaldino in his prime, fat Ronaldo is in his prime - that is/was World Class.

Rooney is a brilliant footballer but I've seen better wearing a number 10 shirt. Far better. And slimmer.

Heck I'd go beyond backing him, I'd expect him to let him rot there.

You tell the club you no longer want to be a part of it, you shouldnt get the privilege of playing, simple. I'm sure there's quite a few young strikers (plus a Mr Owen) who'd jump at the chance of getting games for us.

The other lads must have known what was going on, they must have. Let's hope everybody can move on from this, the lads can string a few wins together and get the confidence going again.

I'm not making excuses or anything, but if they were knowing what was going on then, maybe it was weighing on some minds.

Not anymore, let's move on and get motoring, starting with tomorrow night.

Looks pretty obvious to me that city have sounded him out about a massive pay deal and he's trying to create the conditions to make it more palatable to the press for him to leave - I had no injury, rumours of arguments with fergie (rumours of that intensity must have come from somewhere) - and fergie has called him out on it. Rooney and his advisers obviously thought that the club would never lower his transfer value by publicly admitting he wants to leave and he's now been dropped in it. If he joins city for their millions with no excuse of falling out with SAF then he's shown up as a money grabbing bastard, or he goes abroad to create the impression it was to get away from the media/new challenge, or he swallows his pride and does the right thing by the club that has given him so much.

For me he can get fecked, feck off to city, put tevez out of the team and win the hollow titles with the pointless pay packet. You'll be remembered as a money grabbing mercenary scouse cnut instead of the legacy he was heading for as a loyal legend of the biggest club in the world.

On the second you are clearly wrong. Getting knocked out in the quarter finals isnt coming close. You are undermining your credibility to suggest otherwise.

It wasn't meant to be a point and is in no way relevant to what was my initial point, that Rooney is to be considered world class.

So i consider getting to the quarter finals of the CL a great achievement and am of the opinion that we came close to winning the double. What's the fecking issue with some people? It wasn't at all important in the context of my comment. It was just highlighted by a couple of muppets who feel the need to pick the bones out of every word in a post and has since turned into a debate of it's own. Get over it.

Good post

This takes me back to a conversation I had around the time Ronaldo left, or when it was becoming clear he would inevitably leave. It was about the difference between him and Rooney with regards to loyalty. The perception that Rooney would spend the rest of his life at United, while Ronaldo clearly wouldnt.

At the time I remember buying into that perception but I didnt think it was necessarily a difference of loyalty / integrity or anything like that. It was just that Rooney seemed to be a home-loving Northern lad who would always be satisfied playing for Manchester United because we offered him the things he wanted: CL football, trophies, prestige, convenience. Ronaldo wanted to play in Spain, which Rooney didnt. That seemed to be the difference.

I guess what I am saying is that I never really bought into Rooney being a true United Fan kind of a player, someone who would never want to play anywhere else, someone who grew up thinking exclusively of playing for United. For a time it suited him and there seemed little reason for those circumstances to change but apparently they have.

What I really do want to hear is a clear, intelligible and believable explanation of exactly why he wants to leave. Can it really be purely and simply he wants a shit load more money? If so, it just goes to show how wrong you can be about someone as I never would have thought that would have been his prime motivation. But as some have said, the amount of money we are presumably talking about here, I guess a lot of people would do the same thing.

umm....I know you're mad and all, but you must realise that's bollocks. Of course he's world class. He's just a twat is all

I would never admit this before but Im actually GLAD he's going

The way I see it that's one embarrassing personality out of OT, I mean I enjoyed laughing at Big Man and Stevie Me's antics but when our Wayne was at it it just brought the club down too.

I also got the impression that he was obviously being given special treatment. I mean its OK to slag Berba to vile ends but it was blasphemy to EVER suggest dropping Rooney, even in a run of bad games. The guy seemed untouchable and it shows now, he really does act like the club owes him the world whereas in truth its the other way round.

And hopefully we're now left with a bunch of loyal vets and youngsters keen to impress and willing to make it big here, and no more of these holier-than-thou personalities. Playing for United is a privilege, not a chore.

This isn't a knee-jerk opinion either, I've never really warmed to Rooney despite his great performances and determination on the pitch. I just kept my mouth shut until now because not only because he's a United player, but he was being dubbed as a 'legend' by most.

Take your head out your ass

Yeah getting to the quarters in the CL is a very good achievement.

I really hope that picture is a hit job by Wes. If anything this whole sordid affair will help people appreciate the likes of O'Shea alot more... shit yes, but fecking loyal.

To be fair I don't think O'Shea can ask for £150,000 and have the likes of Madrid and Barca on his tail. I mean I like the guy, but he really should be ecstatic that he still somehow gets games for us. I get your point but the likes of Giggs and Scholes may have been better examples.

if his first choice is madrid, it is plausible he's just fed up with the lack of investment in the team and the media in england.

If his first choice is city, then its obvious he's looking for one big payday.

That said, even if his first choice is city, he could end up with madrid especially if we refuse to sell him to city.

Love the way how some of you are saying he's not that good, there are much better people out there etc etc now. Where as before nearly everyone was saying, "Best playing the in league, world class, one of the best 3 players in the world."

I still think he's world class, but a massive cnut and I will keep saying that wherever he goes. Unless he never recovers his form, then well, he's just shit

Thanks for pointing that out... Shame it wasn't well said when the 'winker' got him sent off. Your as much as a hypocrite for having this opinion than not making it known when he was banging them in last season.
