MERGED: Rooney signs new contract!

feck him, let him rot on the reserves bench until he goes.

Ouch, 32 pages... Had no idea about this.

"The way Giggsy's life is, you've got to have respect for the way he handles himself," said Rooney.

"You look at the things he done, the things he's won and for me he's the perfect role model.

"I hope I can reach 800-odd appearances for United. The number of games Giggsy's played is unbelievable and if I can get anywhere near that I'd be delighted.

"I've always said that I'd like to end my career here and if I could emulate what Giggsy has done at this club then it would be an amazing achievement."

I don't know if he'll stay but it was pure genius

"The fans were chanting his name" (The fans want you to stay ffs!)
"There's always a contract if he wants it" (Keeping all doors open)
All the help we've given him
The genuine upset on his face
Saying he's let the club down a bit

Perfect, we're about to see just how deeply motivated by money Rooney really is.

This isn't going to work, those are the things that he should've known for a long time, besides he's not really a clever fella this Rooney lad, he won't grasp it all of a sudden.

Where is Rooney camping? If it's the North East, lets send Gazza up there. Hopefully his offering of beer, chicken and some common fecking sense might turn his head.

You forgot to mention the spare fishing rod and an afternoon spent whipping some dinner out of the local stream, such a tranquil activity tends to bring ones thoughts into sharper, deeper focus ;)

The most interesting aspect of all of this is what has changed in the interim. Money probably, but if it's something else then this could run and run.

Poor Kai, when he gets old enough to understand things he's going to be really proud of how his father handled his transfer from OT.

Deceiving the fans by lying and slagging off his boss who had done everything to help and protect him whilst he was a player at OT, particularly when he was caught deceiving his wife by visiting prostitutes whilst his wife was pregnant with baby Kai. Making underhand deals with other clubs without permission from the club he was contracted to, selling his soul to the highest bidder and betraying the fans who'd also loved and supported him too.

Poor little Kai.....yes, he will be proud of his father. Wouldn't anyone.

If he went to City, would we get (or want) Adebayor in exchange?

One ungrateful mercenary for another? No thanks.

Agreed.

Wow, I actually agree with Green. He says that if it's true that Rooney wasn't happy with how the quality of the squad was, he owes it to the club to be the focal point and make it better, not leave and make it worse.

He was part of our problems, if HE had played better our squad would look better. He's a loser, quite simply and I won't lose a tear if he goes to City, I will laugh. Wayne Greedy, stupid greedy Scouser with a huge lack of character, discipline, loyalty. May he fail wherever he goes to.

Ferguson has pledged to make changes, although Michael Owen and Jonny Evans are on the sidelines in addition to Rooney, who may never return.

Feels strange yet.

Then ask any professional player or manager and you would find very different results.

You only have to look at the likes of RAWK, Blue Moon and some of the muppets on here to realise that the majority of football fans know nothing about the professional game. No matter how much they would like to think they do.

Yes, Rooney is good, one of the best natural talents to come out of England in recent memory...but he is not World Class. He sits right outside of that echelon. There was way too much admiration and overhyping of Rooney because he was the common man's footballer, a fat English scouse who could play some footy and is really good at it. And over these past few months he's shown his true colors, we really shouldn't have been surprised though.

Like I've said in other threads, IF it's just personal problems things may settle down in a few months time and he'll happily sign a new contract. I'm sure most of us have been in a dark place where we're not thinking clearly for a while, and I'm hoping that's all that's happening here. That's why I'm hoping the fans don't get on his back too much until we know more about what the hell is going on.

Didn't he ask to leave in mid-August? That's a few months already.

SAF 1st, then the individual players.

if he goes I think we'll struggle to win anything this season but, unlike some of the players, SAF and us fans are in this for the long term.

Your argument against my opinion is too compelling. I concede. You are teh king of teh internetz.

Again, as is pretty common on here, this has turned from my simple opinion that Rooney is a world class player into a group of wankers thinking they can be one of the boys by ripping into someone, most likely because they have a higher post count and therefore feel the need to wave their e-peen around.

Fact is, none of you has even attempted to address the topic relevant points i have made in my posts with anything closely resembling anything intelligent.

I stand by my point. Rooney is a world class player. And if it satisfies your urge to be feckwits, being three games away from winning the CL is pretty fecking close.

As far as I can see you have made 2 main points: Rooney is world class and we came close to winning last season's Champions League. On the first I agree - though it is a problem for him he has never really performed at that level in an international tournament. He is world class and most people around here would have agreed with that a few weeks ago.

On the second you are clearly wrong. Getting knocked out in the quarter finals isnt coming close. You are undermining your credibility to suggest otherwise.

100% yes.. why the need for debate. Dignity and reputation of the club comes first, results for one season comes a distant second.

I imagine Kai will see things from his father's point of view. He left a football club to go to another for a whole load of money. It happens.

You keep throwing 'English' in there, I take it you aren't?

I don't think Rooney will play again for United. He might not even set foot in Old Trafford. There will be a deal done and he'll be sent on his way - hopefully abroad

A very likely scenario. Fergie wouldnt have come out like that if he saw away, cause he knew the fans would turn against Rooney

Again, that's from a fan's point of view. I still maintain that the opinion of the world's professionals would easily see him put in the world class bracket.

Yes, in my eyes he would taking games away from players who deserve to be on the pitch.

I'm slightly struggling to see how he can play again now

I can't see the supporters reacting well if so, and if he wants to feck off, why not give opportunities to the lads staying straight away?

Think a lot depends on how long it takes for another club to official wrap up his signiture

If Fergie thought the situation was salvageable, he would have kept quiet for a bit longer whilst trying to persuade him (as he has for the last 9 weeks). Now all the fans have turned on him and if he plays another minute in a Utd shirt he'll be booed to hell. Absolutely no chance he will stay.

He's a fat, overrated Scouser anyway. Lets get 50 mill and bring in a proper striker who actually scores goals please.

I would never admit this before but Im actually GLAD he's going

The way I see it that's one embarrassing personality out of OT, I mean I enjoyed laughing at Big Man and Stevie Me's antics but when our Wayne was at it it just brought the club down too.

I also got the impression that he was obviously being given special treatment. I mean its OK to slag Berba to vile ends but it was blasphemy to EVER suggest dropping Rooney, even in a run of bad games. The guy seemed untouchable and it shows now, he really does act like the club owes him the world whereas in truth its the other way round.

And hopefully we're now left with a bunch of loyal vets and youngsters keen to impress and willing to make it big here, and no more of these holier-than-thou personalities. Playing for United is a privilege, not a chore.

This isn't a knee-jerk opinion either, I've never really warmed to Rooney despite his great performances and determination on the pitch. I just kept my mouth shut until now because not only because he's a United player, but he was being dubbed as a 'legend' by most.

If Rooney is already a Manchester City done deal

What happens then? Especially if its announced before he's actually left
