MERGED: Rooney signs new contract!

SAF said he'll "put it to bed tomorrow when he reads Rooney's statement".

I have a feeling tomorrow could be a big big day.

If David Gill realised that Rooney wouldn't sign without assurances of future investment, why wouldn't he have just lied to him, got him to sign the contract so at least we'd have protected his value? I mean afterall, this man in your opinion is a two faced lying b*stard isn't he?

I get the feeling that Rooney's talking out of his arse to try to cover up the fact that he's a money grabbing whore but anything to beat the Glazers with eh?

Where are the signings?

If we had bought top quality to replace Ronaldo, Rooney wouldnt have been asking the question.

Fergies response when Shreeves told him that bit about ambition tells you all you need to know, as soon as Shreeves started to say it Fergie smiled and made that sarcastic comment, he knows full damn well its nothing to do with ambition, Rooneys looking to line his pockets plain and simple and Fergie knows it.

One problem with all the huff and puff being vented here and at Old Trafford is that right now, I don't really think Rooney cares anymore what people, esp United fans will have to say. Having gone through the entire prostitution disgrace and had to look his family in the eye and deal with that is about as low as any man can have to drop .... the banter from jilted United fans will be the least of his worries.

He will have been told to prepare for the mother of all insults and abuse to come his way after this sequence of events and so, if I were his agent, Id just tell him not to read the internet, papers or TV for a while so that he does not feel the level of vitriol coming his way. But as I said, since the world cup, I would guess he is kind of use to it by now.

His mind is in a very strange place right now, he is listening to all the wrong people and cant see the wood from the tree's. At some point he will wake up and smell the awful acrid stink that he has created, all of his own doing and then will realize just what a complete wanker of a human being he has become.

But that moments in the future. Right now, he has worked himself into a self initiated state of hate and anger and truly believes he is in the right .... and so unfortunately, no matter what anyone says, it will not get through his admittedly thick skull.

What is certain is that he will never ever get the level of support and adoration that Manchester United fans have given him. Quite simply and without bias, we have the largest, loudest and most passionate fanbase in the world who were convinced he was our talisman and cornerstone player. No matter where he goes, he will never be able to recreate that magic relationship with the fans ... and I do believe Rooney is a player that needs to be adored and loved .... and so Id be surprised if he ever reaches the levels he did with us last season when at times he was simply sensational.

Its a sad day to be a Manchester United fan today .... like it was when Cantona left, when it all kicked of with Beckham, Roy and Ruud, but I have had these feelings before. And so luckily I also know that with SAF at the helm, tomorrow will be a better day and so we will move on.

I love the US political drama called The West Wing. Theres a great passage in there when Leo McGarry, President Jed Bartlett chief of staff explains to a Government minister who wont apologize to the president that if she doesn't, The president will be forced to sack her, be sad about it for 5 minutes in genuine sorrow, but then quickly ask, 'Ok - What's next'... and so life moves on at pace within the White house.

Its the same way with SAF at Manchester United. Once he makes his decision and puts its actions into play, he wont muse too long on the subject and just carry on as he always done, which is creating great teams worthy of winning the biggest prizes in English and European football.

Where are the signings?

If we had bought top quality to replace Ronaldo, Rooney wouldnt have been asking the question.

We bought Valencia who supplied the ungrateful cnut with a large number of goals last season. Ronaldo wasn't world class when we signed him either.

My point is, was the question even asked in the first place? Because if it was, what was to stop Gill from lying, to get him to sign an extension, so if he wanted away, we'd get proper value for him?

Rooney is clearly talking out of his backside, the slime ball.

in his defence, what ambition have the club shown since getting rid of the BPITW and Tevez? We signed a £7 million pound unknown and a kid from Mexico. So purely from a football perspective, his comments are valid.

If he wants the money, then Spain is where he will go. 500k at City, he would lose half that in tax.

So what guess as to when we can get this thread to 1million+ views ..... how long did it take with the Ronaldo thread?!!

A very talented kid from Mexico.

only possible outcome I can see now is that rooney will be up for sale tomorrow. time to put disruption of all this to bed and clarify the situation so the rest of the squad can get on with it. SAF looked like someone who has already moved on.

Rooney things were stalling/going backwads.

I agree with him.

No, Stretford is trying playing you like a puppet.

If this was about signings, then this would have all happened in the summer. It's about greed, simple as that. Both sides are now playing the spin game, whilst we are in the middle.

It's probably a case that City are doing so well this season, they figured a marquee signing like Rooney in Jan will push them on to at very least 4th, hence why it's all coming out now.

I don't believe rooneys statement because earlier this year Sir Alex was still not going to last forever and he made NO mention about the spending or us lacking ambition. He MIGHT be telling the truth but it don't quite cut it. Sorry Wayne.

Living in the past?

Are you serious?

He's just making a point that this isn't about ambition and to try to suggest that a club with SAF at the helm has no ambition to win is bullshit, his trophy count should be a testament to his ambition.

Manchester United legend Lou Macari has revealed to talkSPORT a trusted Old Trafford insider told him Wayne Rooney's reasons for wanting to leave: Money.

While pundits have postulated on why Rooney has refused to sign a new contract, Macari believes his reasons are less than honourable.

And he expects Rooney to never don the red of United again.

Macari told Drive Time: “I spoke to someone at Old Trafford who I trust with my life – I know he is honest and genuine – and he said to me it is down to nothing else except money. And I believe that.

“I have heard all these reports about this or that happening, but it is simply an open market for Wayne Rooney and whoever pays the most money to him and his agent, that is where he will go.

“It is all about money. You can forget about rifts with the manager, that he is not happy with the team at the moment or that he is concerned about silverware in the future.

“That is all nonsense – it is all about money. So whether it is Manchester City or abroad I don't really care.“

Apologies if this has already been posted, interesting nonetheless.

Man United boss Sir Alex Ferguson: "I haven't read Wayne Rooney's statement, but we'll have a view on it tomorrow and probably put it to bed tomorrow. As I said, the door is open. We keep good players, particularly when they are that young. He wants assurances? Have I won 30 trophies or what?!"

Cumbubble Rooney obviously thinks he is bigger than the club in asking for assurances or he won't sign.

His statement is silly and I feel sorry anyone that says he has a point. How can can it be good for Man United to cave to a player that says, if you want me to sign, assure me you'll sign X number of big players otherwise am out. You actually think that is good for the club you supposedly love?

Biggest club in the world that has won umpteen trophies and thinks we lack ambition? Definitely spent too much time being a transfer muppet if he actually believes that load of bull.

I don't think he is that daft - it's purely an attempt to deflect off him. Sac up boy and stay with the club if you think we are about to go through a lean period with trophies and be here to ensure you are the reason we win them, not go some place where you think they can be bought for you.

who scored more goals in the World Cup than Ronaldo, Kaka, Messi and Rooney together.

Bollocks they are. From a transfer muppets perspective they're valid, from a football perspective we almost won the league last year and are unbeaten this year.

I cannot see how there is anyway back now, the damage is done

Yeah. I can honestly see us coming out with a statement tomorrow saying he has been placed on the transfer list.
