Manchester United legend Lou Macari has revealed to talkSPORT a trusted Old Trafford insider told him Wayne Rooney's reasons for wanting to leave: Money.

While pundits have postulated on why Rooney has refused to sign a new contract, Macari believes his reasons are less than honourable.

I saw Lou Macari interviewed on Sky Sports News.....The interview took place at pitch side at Old Trafford.
A few minutes later I tuned into Talksport (I know I Know....Ill hate myself in the morning) and there was Lou Macari again.
Now Ive no problem with Lou getting interviewed all day and all night by every broadcaster in the world......but I think that this kind of clearly facilitated witha "United legend" INSIDE Old Trafford will nearly always parrot the party line.
Lou Macari nailed his colours (no pun intended) during the Green and Gold demos.

Now in this particular case......I have no problem with the "party line" as all my previous posts have shown.
But we really need to be careful about former players who appear licensed by the United authorities to say the right thing.

Almost certain it can be changed in January, otherwise it makes the Transfer Window void unless a team wants to risk registering 24/23/22 players to keep spots for January.

There was one player who we would have liked to have got but he chose another club. I don’t think he ever wanted to come to England anyway. Some players don’t want to leave their country, it’s a fact of life, some players are happy in their own country. Some players are happy to leave and Manchester United is always a big attraction for any player. If they don’t want to leave their country then we forget about it.

"In terms of the future of Manchester United there are a lot of things in my favour – history, the respect we have from people – if I told you how many agents phone my secretary every week about players who would love to play for us - and I don’t just mean run of the mill players, I’m talking about players at almost every club in the world - it would amaze you. It’s because this club still has that fantastic romance and respect from everyone.

"Sometimes you look in a field and you see a cow and you think it’s a better cow than the one you’ve got in your own field. It’s a fact. But it never really works out that way. It’s probably the same cow which is only as good as your own cow. We have to deal with that – some players like to think that it’s a better world somewhere else, it never really works like that.

"As I said, three Premier League titles in a row is fantastic and we were within one point of a record fourth. It didn’t happen for us and we didn’t like that and we want to do something about it. It'll be a case of Gill & SAF deciding the next steps for the player. As in, what the club will do. Putting it to bed for him will be a case of saying almost that he'll be transfer listed for January, nothing more.

RvN was a toy-throwing prat who turned in transfer requests three consecutive seasons.

Keane has proven what he's all about time and time again.

We're permitted to call it like it is, even if they've been legends during their playing careers at the club.

Call it like it is? We don't know who that player is, it's an assumption, so how can this be calling it "like it is"?
