MERGED: Rooney signs new contract!

Getting to the point of death threats and hanging out outside his house is TOO far, I don't care if he had came out and said "Yeah I can't be dealing with this, I want to go to City", it's just too far. He plays for us, it doesn't give us a god given right to stalk and threaten him over his own professional choices, leave the torments and that to the football world.

It's not too far, actually doing it would be too far. Death threats and aggressive protesting is normal, I bet not 1 of them would kill him if he came out. A good kicking yes, but that's what he deserves.

Evans has been hit the hardest by the Rooney saga:

j23evans: in one of those modds where i dont know whether i need to go for a shit or a haircut!!

We'll do the same in front of your house and see how you like it.

If you think what they did was fair game then you're a tool.

I m not saying that we want him to stay but during negotiations at times you tend to hide your real intentions.

I believe Fergie wants to him stay. It's possible he knows one or two things we don't, and that is a factor.

I just can't see us giving him a bumper contract, allowing him back into that dressing room, getting him playing again - possibly well - and all that, in order to see him off in a few months.

I am going to be very upset if there is any sort of U turn from this twat. Get the feck outta' my club, you shitbag.

Jesus, big daft going out and speaking to them isnt it.

Im pretty sure Rio didnt open the gates and go face to face, it was probably through the gates, at a distance and he had some people with him + wearing a few thick jumpers.

Still it doesnt excuse what they did, at the end of the day its just football no need to give personal threats

He'll never get a good reception from us lot again IMO. He can stay for another 6 years and my opinion of him now will never change. You're bang on the money, get the disrespectful fecker out of here asap.

think Fergie does want him to stay.

Gill has not come out looking professional at all in this though.

How so?

I'm not going to slag the bloke off for this one. I don't know what more he can do. If Rooney asked for assurances that he can't give then what does he do? Lie? That wouldn't go down well.

And now in the unlikely event SAF wants Rooney to stay then it's Gill's job to try facilitate that.

The only thing he could possibly be blamed for is letting the contract run but given Rooney's stance (stay for life) that doesn't seem that unreasonable.

I hope so much that he doesn't stay, I couldn't stand him in United shirt again.

fecking idiots using a legend like Cantona to hide who they are while they act like utter cnuts, should have arrested them and thrown away the key for disrespecting the king.

Anyone think that the captaincy issue may have been another small factor? Maybe he was told he wasn't getting the armband and that fecked him off. I do realise money is still the overall reason, just hadn't seen the captaincy discussed.

The thing here is Rooneys camp have pulled a blinder here.

I give up..

If you cant see how clever a ploy this is by his agent I give up.

Its a PR stroke of genius.

Rooney could end up being the hero here, because he could be the one that forces Gill to come out and admit the truth as opposed to teh usual bollocks we know he's prone to spout off.

Right on the fecking button .... Get in there my son!

No.

I have no doubt that Fredthebraindead will await the outcome of this little episode, then return and tell us all how he "called it right from the start."

Incredible stuff.

Right on the fecking button .... Get in there my son!

When I first heard his statement and saw how he was angling towards becoming some sort of Martyr for the fans.... I had a vision of Fred building some sort of shrine to Stretford and Rooney.

I don't see how Rooney's agent has been clever. At the minute it's Rooney that's looking the idiot in all of this.

I was thinking that earlier, it is possible he likes being the main man

thats it. Does not matter what a player says. A professional gets the job done. It looks like he may have taken Rooney for granted when he said he wanted to stay for 10 years or summat. They should have started negotiation before last season started.

On Fergie wanting him to stay, I'm just stating what he said about leaving the door open is all.

The one thing that I've been shocked by so far is the absence of any overt recognition on here of what Rooney going to City would mean. I wrote a post about it on one of the threads that got deleted, but in summary: it'll be fecking horrendous, from every possible angle. One thing's for sure, I wouldn't bother going to another Derby

There's also been a weird lack of shock at the merest possibility of this happening, as far as I can tell it would be without precedent, except perhaps Figo, Di Stefano and the rest of Barca's traitors (not a local rivalry though) or perhaps Mo Johnston. For a major uropean club to sell their best player to their inferior local rivals purely because he wants more money would be astonishing...I struggle to think of a comparison

That scouse cnut could do considerable damage to this city, Im amazed people aren't more aware of this.

Rooneys now public enemy number 1, not just with United fans but the view of football people in general, i think every manager whos spoken out on this has backed Sir alex and the club and lambasted Rooney, former legends of the club have as you'd expect done the same, ive not seen one respectable member of the modern game come out and back Rooneys actions, christ we even had Paul Merson off his piss bed talking sense the other night! when Paul merson thinks your a dick you really are in trouble.

And yet here we have Fredthered of Redcafe.net telling the world Rooney and his agent have played a blinder.......ill just leave it there but all ill say is.....i hope freds getting the help he needs.
