Rafael started this game with more pace to boot than Bale. Bale hasn't lost a bit of that pace, and in that last run, he outran both Rafael and Vidic easily.
Fergie is right to pull of Rafael, he's been great partly due to his pace making up ground. This is not to say Rafael has been bad, but he did show what a great player he can be. He will get better with his fitness in the coming days and he'll be a super player for us.

That's because Bale reached full speed before Rafael did. He also cut in with the ball so Rafael couldn't tackle it. He did everything right and his run could only end with this shot like he most likely planned. No defender would have stopped him considering how and where he got the ball.
