Manchester United vs. Wigan Athletic, 20/11/10

Happy to see Kiko and Obertan rewarded with starts but seriously one striker at home?

Subs: PIG, Giggs, Chicha, Scholes, O'Shea, Evans, and Rooney

Our bench is probably more likely to score than the starting Xi

Not surprised with the line up Berba needs a kick up the back side, he was winning me over early season with his performances he has been very poor as of late.

Obertan and Macheda deserve a start after Villa last week.

Obertan and Macheda came on and changed the game vs. Villa, they deserve to start.

No Scholes? Other than that I'm happy as both Obertan and Kiko have been in good form. Berba not in the squad, big call by SAF if he's not injured.

Wonder if he's giving Obertan a free attacking role. Fair play giving Kiko a start he does deserve it, just hope he's not left isolated.

Happy the two of them are starting but Kiko looks rather ineffective without a strike partner. One striker at home to Wolves was understandable since everyone was injured. But one striker at home to Wigan with 4 strikers fit and available? We should win with this team too but might not be too pretty.

Oh god. Team looks poor.

Rooney on bench for #mufc: VDS, Rafa, Rio, Vidic,
Evra. Nani, Carrick, Fletcher, Park. Obertan, Macheda

No berba in squad.

I do not like this team.

what the hell is this, no berbatov and no hernandez either.

The matchday thread never fails to disappoint.

It's practically our first team apart from the front 2, who both deserved to start following the Villa game.

We've got Rooney, Scholes and Hernandez on the bench should we need them.

I'm begining to think Fergie's gone mental.

Either that or he serverly overates exactly where some of these players are at. The front six barely pass for a mid table side.

and why does he keep playing unbelievably negative formations against shit teams?

It's not the line-up I would have expected but it's still a strong enough side to beat Wigan.

Interesting to see if the front two can carry on in the same vain, here's hoping they can!

Obertan to score three.

Surprised at that team really. Well the front two really. It's not that I don't think obertan and macheda deserve a chance but I don't think they should be thrown in together for a game we must win. I think we'd be better served sticking out our a team and trying to whip someone for the first time this year.

No complaints, it's the first team other than the front two, and that's down to injury. Except maybe Hernandez not starting, which seems a little weird, unless he played in the week?

The front six barely pass for a mid table side.

There really aren't any words for this are there...

obertan-kiko did very well against villa, but surprised fergie has started with both up front

but players should be rewarded for good performances too .. fergie knows best

the defence and the midfield is solid

It's not a bad side at all. Not our strongest, but there's more then enough out there to secure three points at home.

I reckon Obertan is going to be played as a striker today in a 4-4-2.

feck me. That's pretty special Noods.

Carrick, Fletcher, Nani and Park are not fit for a mid table side?

It's not SAF that has gone insane it's noodlehair. Seriously, what the feck.

Fair enough then. But I think we're being a bit complacent with that lineup.

Maybe, but them two changed our last game so I can understand them being given starts, and we have Hernandez and Rooney on the bench should we need to call on them.

I don't quite see the problem - both Obertan and Macheda deserve to start - and both Obertan and Nani are more or less strikers these days.

And besides - we have Scholes, Giggs, Chicharito and Rooney on the bench if we need more attacking power

VDS
Rafael------Vidic-------Rio--------Evra
Fletcher---Carrick-----Park
Nani--------Macheda------Obertan

Should be able to do the job, Obertan will be tearing them up!

I like seeing Macheda get chances but what's infuriating is he's always played in some spastic role where even the likes of Rooney and Berbatov would struggle.

He comes in, plays a position he's obviously going to be shit in, then doesn't play again for a few weeks.

Is it so hard to field a functional strike partnership at home to Wigan when you've got a first team squad of about 500 players?

The bench is amazing. Starting 11 I'm not so sure, but clearly Fergie is rewarding form of Obertan and Macheda, and teaching others a lesson.
Which is good to see - and he has options on the bench, that could change the game in our favour as well.

Interesting to see whether Obertan just plays off Macheda or whether he actually joins him up front.

Glad that Macheda gets his chance and Berba is off the team

Maybe, but them two changed our last game so I can understand them being given starts, and we have Hernandez and Rooney on the bench should we need to call on them.

True but I feel for Kiko. He gets a start and inevitably it's as a lone man again. He might not do well and then be dumped for the next game. I'd like to see him start in a strong team along side another striker for once.

I'm all for giving Macheda a chance, he deserves a start, but every time he's played as a lone striker he's looked shit.

Negative team yet again from Ferguson.

Rooney has a chance in the second half to make himself a hero again as i think we'll struggle with the starting line up.

matchday threads, here we go...

Think i'll avoid this thread, most of you are retarded judging by thd reaction to the line up.

Surprised at the front two of Obertan and Macheda, but like others have said I guess SAF is rewarding them after they both came on last week and helped salvage a draw against Villa.

Most will probably say it's a weak line-up and other spastic comments, but it's good to see SAF isn't afraid to reward the young lads for a good showing last week. He has shown others that after a poor showing last week, they just can't expect to be selected in the starting XI.

I say just wait and see how the game goes before knee jerk or spastic comments.
