World Cup 2018 & 2022 bids

England going for the multi-cultural angle. Thought Becks looked nervous. But overall not bad.

Cameron should just come on and say "We could do with the money" end of presentation.

You think? Im finding it to be a bit bland to be honest

No I liked it, It was the first one that ctually spoke Football, the others have been a bit gimmicky to me so far. Ooh Holographic games, Airconditioned stadiums etc. We won't win but I think it was very well done.

Hard to fault that to be honest, I just think that there are no votes to win at this stage.

Very good presentation from England. Particularly from Eddie and Becks. Didn't think he looked THAT nervous.

In the bag ?

That was a great presentation I thought. Football hosts football is a neat idea as well.

Im a sucker for all the gimmicky shit to be honest :D
Was a bit underwhelmed by our presentation really but just having Wills/PM/Becks out there will have scored some big points.

Anyway we know that the presentations are only a small part of it and hopefully the last few days of lobbying will make all the difference - looks like it is a proper 3 horse race ...

What's with all this matching FIFAs spend to develop football, think of what we could do etc, is it a threat? don't give it us and we won't do it? We could do with doing that anyway to develop football.

Well you'd expect that the money to do it would come from hosting the World Cup event itself. ie. instead of pocketing ourselves, we'll distribute it about?

Well I dunno how the non-English saw it but I thought it was a pretty good showing from D Beck and the Fresh Prince et all....Our bid sort of presents itself cos everyone knows we have the infrastructure, transport and appeal, so there isn't really much to do but say "we really really want this" over and over and perhaps throw in a dead grandad or too for good measure...Having our PM there in a trendy head set was a good touch too

The football hosts football bit was a great idea...kind of thing that would sway actual football people...but then these aren't actual football people are they, they're corrupt politicians and former presidents of the friends of suspenders association...

Whatever happens, at least our team gave it a damn good shot, what what..jolly good.

I kinda cringed when Eddie opened, but I think he did quite well, and certainly added a bit of flavour to it.

Well done to him, 20 something year old, fronting this huge presentation. Obviously well done to Beckham...

Oh and Gerrard shouting out UNITED

hehehe

What's this 'football hosts football' you all keep mentioning? For those of us who couldn't watch/listen...

Gerrard saying "United" through gritted teeth
Made me chuckle that bit.

Other than that the bid didn't really do it for me, but then again I haven't seen any of the other presentations. Would have liked some passionate crowd (full stadium, excited fans etc) scenes.

Whatever your politics Cameron did well, he's interesting to listen to....good move that by England.

Hope we win it.

From what I gathered, it was a promise that the participating teams would be hosted by Premier League teams, so whoever was playing at Manchester would be using Uniteds training facilities and training with United themselves in preparation of their game, although how that will actually work I have no idea considering out starting 11 will be in various parts of the country anyway training themselves for their own games. They used the line 'nobody knows how to prepare for games more than world class players'
