Manchester United vs. Valencia CF | Champions League | 7/12/10

------------- VDS --------------
Rafael -- Smalling -- Vidic -- Fabio
Nani -- Carrick - Fletcher -- Park
------- Rooney - Hernandez -----

SUBS : PIG, O'shea, Evra, Giggs, Scholes, Berbatov, Anderson.

This, except put in Evra and Rio. Next 2 prem games are critical, and they've not played in forever. Put them through 3 games and then look at the xmas cluster, where all other sides will be equally as tired.

Will we? Dunno. Should we? Why not? We don't need a win, we just need to keep them out of goal.

why should we go into a match to play for a draw, its not our style of play, we always play to win.....

Whilst I don't think we will play 451 it would hardly be a shock if Fergie did go 451. He's done it time and time again in Europe and whilst we are still playing for the win we are also playing with the intention of keeping it very tight at the back.

This.

Also, the lineup I suggested was only two changes (Scholes instead of Anderson and Rooney instead of Berbatov) from what we played against Valencia before.

Whats the score if a CL game gets postponed?
The weather is for fog all day tommorow and getting thicker at the night.
Admittedly not likely to happen , but you never know.

I imagine it would be a simple case of re-arranging it. Nothing else you can do really.

Wholesale changes from the West Ham game ...

Van der Sar; Rafael, Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra; Nani, Scholes, Carrick, Park; Berbatov, Rooney

Subs: Kuszczak, Brown, O'Shea, Fletcher, Anderson, Giggs, Hernandez

I dont see why Anderson shouldn't play. He's been arguably our best player in the last 2 games, and deserves to be starting, even ahead of Scholes. We should play the same midfield as against Blackburn, and give Scholesy the last half hour.

Fergie says he will play his strongest side tomorrow and worry about Arsenal after that.

Right decision for me.

No need to rest anyone.

Good news if he said that - I'd been reading that he was in favour of keeping the big guns back for Arsenal. Let's go with the same X1 that demolished Blackburn, as some have already said, and recover the impetus we partially lost at West Ham.

Why is everyone in the Line-up game suggesting, we'll play Vidic-Smalling. Am I missing something? Rio injured or what

People are assuming thatbased on Rio's fragility, SAF will rest him to make sure he is fit for the Arsenal and Chelsea matches.

Imo, we will be playing our starters vs. Valencia. I doubt that anyone will be rested.

Thanks. That's what I thought.
Kak si Tedi?

So this for tomorrow then?

...............Van Der Sar
Rafael - Ferdinand - Vidic - Evra
............Carrick - Anderson
..Nani - Berbatov - Rooney - Park

Bench:

Hernandez
Giggs
Scholes
Fletcher
O'Shea
Smalling
Kuszazck

I'm with this team right here...

Apparently it will be the 150th time in a rw that Fergie has changed the starting lineup. The way modern football is I guess. I remember they used to call Ranieri the "tinker man" What would this make Fergie?

Ben Amos to start. You heard it here first (unless you follows @ohpebbles on Twitter).

I want us to play our best team tonight, so hopefully ohpebbles source is wrong.

I would also definitely go with this, Afo. The only one I am not sure about is TK vs. VDS. I have a hunch that maybe SAF will want to give TK some playing time especially since we have qualified. On the other hand, we want to win the group. Ah, decisions, decisions.

Can only play 11, that's a good reason ;)

That and perhaps tactical reasons to do with Valencia's threat.

It wouldn't surprise me not to see Smalling in the matchsquad. I think Brown will get a chance tonight.

No point in giving TK playing time IMO. He has probably been a bit demotivated by the arrival of Lindegaard and I think he knows his time at OT is nearly up - will he have the motivation to do really well now? Dunno. He was flappy against West Ham.

I disagree if he's going, it'll improve his value. If he's not then it'll boost his confidence so he can at least show that he can challenge Lindegaard if he gets all "rabbit in the headlights" like Ben Foster did.

Plus it'll spare Edwin from the chills.

Damn, Corry and Reese by any chance?

Here is the full article:

Manchester United will field their strongest side at home to Valencia as they seek the draw or victory which would secure top spot in Champions League Group C.

With their weekend game against Blackpool having been postponed due to the weather, United should be fresh. Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov are expected to start up front ahead of Mexican Javier Hernandez, who scored the winner in Valencia earlier in the campaign. Alex Ferguson has said he will not rush back Michael Owen. Winger Nani will start with recent returnee Ryan Giggs or Park Ji-Sung on the other flank. Patrice Evra has not trained fully for a few days but should feature at left-back; Wes Brown and Jonny Evans will not make it while Owen Hargreaves and Antonio Valencia face a long period on the sidelines.

Valencia, defeated 2-0 at Real Madrid at the weekend, can win the group if they grab an unlikely victory at Old Trafford. Coach Unai Emery said: "We've got two objectives: the first was to qualify, the second was to finish top of the group. We've achieved the first and now we're going for the second. We want to taste victory at a place like this, which would set our stall out and send out a warning sign to the other clubs." First-choice goalkeeper Cesar Sanchez is struggling with a hamstring injury while understudy Miguel Angel Moya is definitely out with a thigh injury. David Navarro, Manuel Fernandes, Mehmet Topal and Jeremy Mathieu are miss the match, but right-back Miguel may play after coming on in the Bernabeu following a thigh problem.

Qualifying chances

United and Valencia are both through. United will top the group unless Valencia beat them at Old Trafford. Rangers are sure of their Europa League place and Bursaspor are out.

I've got a good feeling about tonight - I think we'll send everyone a message and really take it to Valencia tonight. Either that, or it'll be another boring 0-0..

I would have never predicted that.
